Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2017/02/01) */ The customer brought me his own used engine to installHe purchased it from an out of state junk yard and had it shipped to meWe advised that this was a bad idea, as we would not be able to give any warranty on a part that we did not provide, and if we put the motor in and there was a problem with it, he would have to deal with his vendor, and that we would not be able to warranty anythingThe customer insisted on supplying us with the motor, and we went ahead and began the repairWhen the motor arrived, we immediately noticed that the motor was different, and that it was missing electrical plug ins for the crank sensorThe customer called the vendor, who then called usWe told the vendor that he sold his customer the wrong motor, and that it would not work and that he needed to send the correct motorThe vendor says the motor is out of a different year honda, and that he would fax over instructions on how to "cut and splice the wires"I told the vendor that this is not correct, and that the same type engine that came out should be going inHe told me "Its fine...we do it all the time"When we attempted to do the procedure, and I use that term loosely, that the vendor instructed us to do, we noticed that the color codes on all of the wires did not match the instructions that he sent, and that we would not be able to do the procedureWhen we told the vendor this, he said that it didnt matter the color of the wires!! At that point I though we were on a hidden video show! The manager, ***, told the customer that we installed his motor as was agreed, and that we were unable to do the hack job that the vendor wanted us to doI will not cut into a factory engine harness and "cut and splice" wiring because the customer was too cheap to purchase the correct motor from usI will not "cut and splice" wiring because a junkyard vendor God knows how far away seems to think a round peg can fit in a square holeAs the age old adage says, you pay for what you getThe customer tried to beat the "system" and bring his own meat to a restaurant to cook for him, and when the meat didn't taste good, blamed the restaurant Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (2000, 7, 2017/02/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Customer purchased a used vehicle from a third party, and that vehicle overheated that same day causing damage to the engine. We replaced the engine with a used one. WE CANNOT PREDICT IF, WHEN, AND WHERE OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE WILL FAIL! ...

If the owner of the vehicle feels that it is a lemon, or that they got a bad deal from wherever they purchased it from, they should address this with whomever they bought the vehicle from. We always do our best to assess the condition of a vehicle, but we don't have a crystal ball to see the future. Especially a vehicle that someone just sold and probably spent a lot of time hiding items that it needed so that they can sell it easier. I do not accept the customers implication that these problems can not occur a month after the purchase of the vehicle, when in fact the engine failed less than 1 day after they purchased it!! Common sense would dictate to take exception with the seller of the vehicle, which didn't even make it a full day (per the customers own admission) after purchase. We purchased and installed a used motor. We installed new spark plugs, new oil, and new coolant. The vehicle needs further repair. I can understand the customers frustration, but I didn't sell them this car. I simply put a used motor and made it run again. The proof that I did the aforementioned repairs is in the vehicle itself. Towed in. Driven out. I am not a wizard or a magician. Had I not did what I said, how is the vehicle running at all?
