Review: I hired Olson Toon to provide landscaping including shrubs and trees in Summer 2012. The warranty for the work was noted as 1 year. I paid in full for this service. In the spring of 2013 I hired Olson Toon to provide spring clean up services and to mow my lawn on a weekly basis. After the spring clean up service I called because the work done was of poor quality as branches, leaves, and other debris were left in my yard. This matter was not addressed so I cleaned up the yard myself. At a later point in the spring I called regarding the poor quality of the lawn service provided. My edging was not completed, large areas of grass were left uncut, and piles of grass were left across my lawn. I called after each lawn service to address the issues and I was told that someone would come out to address the situation. My lawn care needs were never addressed as I had to do my own edging, mow the lawn to address the areas left uncut, and clean up the piles of grass left on my lawn. In addition, I had requested thatching as recommended by Olson Toon. I called to inquire about when this service would be provided and I was told it had been provided. I asked for someone to come out to evaluate and someone came out and said it had been done, yet I knew it had not. After several weeks I contacted another company to complete the necessary thatching and was told that the level was in the moderate to severe range and that it could not have been provided already by Olson Toon.

To address these issues I called and requested to speak with the owner to note I was canceling all of my services. He requested to come out to look at my lawn after the most recent poor quality mowing. His response was that his lawn had piles of grass left after mowing, that his edging was not done well, and that large patches of grass left uncut was normal. I said that I was canceling my services and that I would not be paying in full for the poor quality services provided. During this phone call I also stated that I had spoken to two different employees on site and one by phone to address the warranty issues from my landscaping. I was told by the owner that he would come out to evaluate the warranty issues and make all replacements as he would honor the warranty.

Through the subsequent billing process, the reduction in fees was resolved yet I still had remaining charges for mowing and fertilization services. I noted on the monthly bills that I would not pay for these items until my warranty issues were addressed. I noted the exact items that needed attention and needed replaced. For four consecutive months Olson Toon continued to send me the bill for the remaining services, ignore my requests for advisement regarding my warranty issues, and did not honor my warranty.

At this time, I still have a balance on my account. I still have several items that need to be replaced and the only leverage for my warranty is this remaining balance. I have called, spoken to employees in person, and sent written materials (5/31/2013, 8/10/2013) to address resolution, and the reply has been to send me another statement with an outstanding balance.Desired Settlement: I would like my billing to be adjusted for the items under warranty that were not replaced. This is a simple exchange that could be easily resolved.

The account was supposed to have been credit months ago. We contacted [redacted] and let her know the situation, and that we credited her account back immediately. She is satisfied with that.

My wife contacted this firm and said not to proceed with anything until they talked to me (her husband). She was working with Rich. She told me Rich would review all the plans with me before proceeding. Rich never contacted me. We were gone the morning they started working on my yard. When we got home, they had ripped out most of my planting beds. This was without my approval! When they planted lawn in the place of my planning bed, it was all unsightly weeds. I would. Never recommend this firm to any body.

We built a home in 2014 and used Olson Toon for the retaining walls, planting beds, landscaping, grass, etc. We were so pleased with their work, we hired them again this year to do additional landscaping work. We were very happy with the design, quality and execution. The designer came up with plans and selections that matched our tastes, updated us on work status and answered all our questions promptly. The work crew were courteous, professional, hard working and very knowledgeable. Olson Toon was originally a referral to us and we would and will refer them to others.
