Olympia Inn Motel

To whom it may concern:
My name is Jerry B*** and I am the manager at Olympia Inn in Olympia, WA. I am responding in regards to case #***. I was the person on duty at the time that Ms***-*** is referring to. On January 15, at
approximately pm, I had a gentleman call and ask for a room with beds but for only person. I asked why the need for the 2ndbed, to which they replied that they were doing laundry and needed the 2nd bed to use for folding. I told them that they would have to pay the person rate since they are requesting beds. About an hour later, another gentleman called with exactly the same question, how much for a bed room, but only person. I asked why and they said they were folding laundry. I pointed out that another person had called with the same question an hour ago. We get, as a hotel, a lot of people that will say that they need a room for person, but then have a number of unregistered guests in the room, so this is why I was suspicious at this point. At 11:pm, *** ***-*** entered the lobby alone. She asked for a bed room, but only person was staying. I asked if she was the only one staying in the room and she said yes. I pointed out the sign in the lobby that says that only registered guests are allowed in the room after 9:pm, and that she couldn’t have unregistered guests and she again stated that it would just be her and she was using the second bed to do laundry. She then asked me where was the closest store and she left. She never returned. At approximately am, I was watching the room (registered to ***) from the office and watched men approach on foot carrying backpacks and observed them enter room 104. I immediately went to room and knocked on the door. At that point, a gentleman answered the door and I asked who he was. He stated that his mom rented the room for him and his buddy because he has no identification. I then said that unregistered visitors are not allowed, especially if the registered guest wasn’t even in the room. He then again told me that it was his mom and she rented it for him because he has no identification. I then told him that based on our rules, him and his friend would have to leave. They then exited the room with no incident. Once outside, he asked me if he could get a refund, and I told him that the room wasn’t in his name, that he didn’t pay for it. Then he asked if *** could come and get a refund. I told him that we would not issue a refund, that if SHE wanted to come stay in the room, she could, but I wasn’t issuing a refund. They then left while mumbling obscenities while walking away. The following morning, (January 16th), at approximately am, Ms***-*** called the hotel and spoke to my fiancée, Melinda M*** (Co-Manager). Said I was very rude to her son and said she wanted to speak to the owner about a refund. When my fiancée told me about this, I called Ms***-***. She answered the phone and I said who I was. She immediately told me she didn’t want to talk to me, she wanted to talk to the owner. I then replied “I handled it in accordance with our policy and I am not even going to have the owner of the hotel call you”. She replied “we will see about that”…then she hung up the phone. This was the end of the incident until I received the complaint letter yesterday. I assure you that I never cursed at anyone nor laid a hand on any guests. I also have video footage of her checking in alone, the guys entering the room, and of me going to the door and telling them they had to leaveIt shows very clearly that I never entered the room nor did I touch anyone. I would be happy to submit the surveillance video if you would like it. We will not be issuing a refund in this case
