Olympia Sports Reviews (1)

Review: On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, I purchased a pair of Nike sneakers for my grandson. He wore the sneakers twice and now the Nike swoosh symbol is communing up from the sneaker. I contacted the store to be told that if I bring the sneaker back they will call the police. I returned to the store on Saturday, November 9, 2013, for one person saying she was the manager that she was going to replace the sneaker until another employee interjected saying that I have to contact Nike. They Olympia sports do not state this policy anywhere in the store nor is it on their receipt. They would not take the defective sneaker back.Desired Settlement: They should make their store policy known to the customer on the receipt and in the store. They should take the defective merchandise back and not put the burden on the customer.

Response:

Dear **. [redacted]:

When **. [redacted] first contacted our store, she used very abusive language towards our store manager, but she was politely asked to bring in the shoes for evaluation. We have a store policy that allows for exchanges of merchandise that have not been worn badly and do not show any wear and tear, as per Pennsylvania consumer guidelines. **. [redacted], had notified the manager that the product was defective, the "Swoosh" mark on the side of the Nike footwear was coming off.

When the sneaker was brought in to the store and examined by our manager, she immediately noticed that the sneaker was very dirty and showed signs of wear; however, our manager was willing to work out something with **. [redacted], but she had no receipt. When the manager explained that under those conditions she could do nothing for her, **. [redacted] became so loud and abusive that the store manager considered calling the police.

Olympia Sports, Inc., has been doing business in Philadelphia for over 20 years and we have attempted to maintain good business relationships with the neighborhoods we are in as well as our customers.

Despite our store policy of not exchaning worn or abused merchandise, we are willing to resolve this issue as amicably as possible and if **. [redacted] can bring us the receipt dated November 5, 2013 (or within a week of that date) for proof of purchase from our location, we will be willing to exchange the product for her.

If you require any further information or clarification, please feel free to contact me.

I am rejecting this response because:

When I went to the store on 11/9/2013 I asked for the manager, as the manager and I were speaking another worker interjected into the conversation stating that I would have to contact Nike as per their policy they do not take back damaged merchandise. I had then asked her was she the manager as that's all I needed to speak with. I then resumed my conversation with the manager whom before we were interrupted was getting ready to exchange the sneakers for another pair without the receipt as she remembered I just purchased the sneakers on Tuesday 11/5/2013. I then asked for her boss name and number along with their corporate information she stated she was not able to give out the information per store policy. At that time another employee decides to get into the conversation I asked if he was the manager he stated no and again I said I only need to speak to the manager . I then googled Olympia Sports Inc. and called the number listed the women I spoke with said she would have someone call me back no one as of this day 12/18/2013 has done so. At no point in time did I raise my voice or become abusive in the store. In fact I was the person that was going to call the police. As the stores policy is no where in the store nor is it on the receipt. This is what upset the manager as I was questioning a policy that they Olympia Sports Inc. do do have visible anywhere for their customers whom the falsely claim No I did not have my receipt but as I stated the manager did remember selling me the sneakers only 4 days earlier . I asked if I found the receipt would she exchange them she said they do not take back damaged merchandise. Was there some wear on the sneaks yes but the wear did not cause for the swoosh to bubble up. The manager also stated that this happens all the time and they send everyone back to Nike do they Olympia Sports Inc. are aware of the problem. I will never buy anymore products from Olympia Sports Inc. and have instructed many friends and family to do the same as they do not value their customers business. After this letter stating lies I most definitely will advise others not to buy from Olympia Sports..

Please see attached pictures of the sneakers show the defect that was not caused by wear of only 2 days.
