Olympian Fuel Oil Corp. Reviews (4)

I would like to preface by stating that in the 22 years since our inception, we have always held our customers' needs in the highest regard and with the utmost in professionalism and integrity. Unfortunately, as many entrepreneurs can surely vouch, some customers simply can never be satisfied. In...

regards to the aforementioned complaint, this customer in question is completely unrealistic in expectations and demands. For example, customer complained his boiler was installed crooked, however his pre-existing cement base was in fact what was crooked, which he failed to mention in his complaint. When finally realizing we were not conducting business with a rational customer, we offered to take our boiler back and he could take his business elsewhere. He refused to return our boiler at first, however two weeks later decided he would. This customer did not adhere to our terms and did not return our boiler within the time frame agreed upon, thus pushing it beyond the return period. Furthermore, he was certainly made aware that a permit should be pulled. His accusations are as preposterous as his demands. Installing hidden cameras in a boiler room speaks volumes and absolutely shows malicious intent and a desire to get something for nothing. Finally, we take our relationship with the Revdex.com very seriously and only conduct business in a completely ethical and professional fashion.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Dear Revdex.com, Once again, Olympian Fuel refuses to address the facts about the unfortunate situation at hand.  Perry N[redacted]s workers installed an illegal boiler and installed it improperly, on a slant, voiding my warranty and endangered my home and my tenants in the process. His workers are unprofessional and disgusting as they smoked cigars and urinated in the boiler room, all when I was not aware this was happening.  Were it not for the cameras in my home, I would never know the atrocities his workers are capable of.   All I want is to be done with this and have Perry remove his boiler off my property and refund my $5000 deposit as per our agreement.  I am hoping the Revdex.com will step in and help remedy this situation and also get the word out that this company is not reputable, so that other innocent people will not have to go through the same situation from this awful company.  Looking forward to your response.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Let me start by saying Olympian Fuel and its workers are completely disrespectful to myself, my fiancee, my house and of other customers as stated in Yellow Pages public reviews. To my dismay, I should've looked online and read the reviews before hiring them because everything negatively written applies to my unfortunate experience as well. One of the comments on the reviews states that "They should be investigated" and I concur with that statement. Here is the link to the Yellow Pages reviews:

I put my faith in this company believing they were reputable. My expectations were not unrealistic as I gave them several chances to rectify their mistakes and they refused to do so. I even have a written statement, signed by both parties that the issues in question would be resolved after a $5000 deposit was received. See attached agreement. I gave him the $5000 deposit in good faith and again he did not honor his end of the agreement. To say that the cement base was crooked is irrelevant. My original boiler, which was in place for 10 years was completely level and so is my present legally installed boiler. I would also like to add that I received several professional opinions from Master Plumbers and oil burner installers who explained that it is the duty of the installer to level the boiler regardless of the existing base. Furthermore I would like to add that my main concern with the boiler being crooked is that it voided my warranty from the manufacturer and Olympian Fuel was well aware of this. I have emails from the manufacturer that if the boiler was left "as is", meaning un-leveled, it would void my 10 year manufacturers warranty. He even referenced where it is sited in the installation manual. My desire to want a properly, legally installed, fully warrantied and safe boiler, does not constitute being an irrational customer. At the end of the day I have a responsibility to my tenants and Ive never let them down. After three failed attempts to correct the boiler, we decided to return the boiler to Olympian Fuel and have my $5000 deposit returned to me. The agreement was to do a swap, where we would return his sections and he would return my $5000 check. Contact was made with Perry on Friday,
January [redacted] that the boiler was ready for pickup as long as he had the
check ready for me at the moment of exchange. During this conversation, Perry was rude to my fiancee and threatened to call the Dept. of Buildings on my home. When it came time to pick up the boiler on Monday, January [redacted], he had one of his workers, Peter, reach out to my fiancee to tell her he was on his way to remove the boiler sections, however he did not have the check. I rightfully told his worker he cannot take the boiler without the $5000 check as per our agreement and told him to have the owner Perry contact me to make arrangements. He failed to do so and let a couple of days pass. By Wednesday, January [redacted], the boiler was professionally uninstalled and I informed Perry via email, by leaving a message with his office and speaking directly with his worker Peter. Call logs and emails can be retrieved upon request. The only response I received was an email from Olympian Fuel on Thursday, January [redacted] with an agreement that Perry wanted me to sign, trying to charge me a $250 daily rental fee of I which I refused to sign because I never agreed to it.  He ultimately never had the check ready and as a matter of fact, he wanted to take the boiler and have me pickup the check at his office, at a later time. A request like this is ludicrous!
As for permits, Perry advised me they were not needed as only sections were being replaced and not an entire boiler. After the boiler was improperly installed I had my doubts and contacted the NYC Dept. of Buildings, who informed me that I did indeed need a permit called an LAA (Limited Alteration Application) if more than 50% of the boiler is replaced. When I questioned Perry about this, he once again said that it was not needed due to it having been previously filed with the city. I asked him if the insurance would cover such filing fees under my claim and he said they do not cover such fees. Currently my insurance, Hartford Steam Boiler has reopened the claim and has determined that Olympian Fuel did not install it to NYC code and has approved an additional payment that includes all filing fees and safety features. Since permits were never filed, the boiler was never subject to a formal inspection and Perry never updated any of the safety features as per NYC code, causing a potentially unsafe boiler. I would like to know who the Master Plumber was when the boiler was installed as I have found out through NYC Dept of Buildings that a Master Plumber is needed to oversee the job. After searching online for license #'s of Olympians workers, no master plumbers were found. As a landlord I have cameras all around my building as a safety measure. To say that it was "malicious intent" to get something for nothing is absolutely absurd. First, I gave him his $5000 deposit showing good faith with intent to pay in full. Second and most importantly the camera in this situation has been of great help to me. In reviewing the footage, I was appauled as to what I found. His main installer, Mike was constantly lighting a cigar while installing the boiler over open and dripping fuel lines of which his helper mentions at one point. Another one of his workers, a helper decides to urinate in the water drainage pit located inside the boiler room while Mike stares at the boiler. This is completely inappropriate and unprofessional when a full bathroom was made available to them in the next room.Video was divided into 3 sections before battery ran out. Video links attached:My boiler installed - part 1[redacted]Cigar smoking and lighting does not begin till 14 mins into video and throughout others. My boiler installed - part 2
[redacted]My boiler installed - part 3[redacted]Urinating at 4.00 mins into video. My experience with Olympian Fuel has been completely disastrous. I just want my $5000 deposit back and they can have their sections as agreed upon. I am reaching out to the Revdex.com in hopes for a quicker resolution than going to court.

Review: Olympian fuel tried to install an illegal, unregistered boiler without a permit in my home. First they tried to convince me that a permit is not needed, then to accept their sloppy work which included installing the boiler backwards with multiple leaks and finally reinstalling it on a slant which voided my manufacturers warranty (picture proof available). In this process, they damaged my original parts and almost started a fire in my house by allowing his workers to smoke cigars while they work (video proof available). The owner signed an agreement saying he would straighten it otherwise I'd get my deposit back, then tried to charge me a rental fee and threatened to call the Dept of Buildings when I decided I didn't want it as to forcibly keep the illegally installed boiler. As of now he has my $5000 deposit with no intention of returning it, claiming his boiler is now used although it is uninstalled and ready for pickup. The owner is rude, unprofessional and deceitful while he defends his sloppy, dangerous and unprofessional employees.Desired Settlement: I want my full refund as agreed in exchange for the undamaged items which were improperly and illegally installed.
