Olympic Aire Services Inc Reviews (1)

Review: Olympic Aire replaced my HVAC system with an inferior system that does not support my heat pump.I have had to pay other technicians to come out and attempt to resolve the problem; however it was concluded that the aire conditioning system that was installed was not a match for my previous system because it does not have a heat reversal valve. I spoke with the owner and he contends that there is no problem, I was told that the system has to be replaced at a cost of approximately $8000.00 ( in addition to service fees that I have already paid which resulted in no resolution). I am currently heating my house with space heaters (also purchased because of this problem). before they installed the new system I had no problems with my heating unit.Desired Settlement: Replacement of unit

Response:

We were contacted August 21, 2012 by previous customers of ours, **. [redacted] and **. [redacted], to inquire about a problem with the air conditioning at the property located at [redacted]. Upon arrival at property our technician found and confirmed with **. [redacted] that the outdoor a/c had been damaged by a weed trimmer, slicing the coil causing all the Freon to leak from the unit. **. [redacted] contracted us to replace the outdoor air conditioning unit at the price of $2,385.00. The new unit was installed on August 22, 2012 and [redacted]. [redacted] paid our company $2,385.00 with personal check #[redacted]. The unit came with a one year labor warranty. We were called back to the property on April 11, 2013 (nearly 8 months after the installation) and the technician found a broken wire in the thermostat, which he repaired at no charge, even though it was a pre-existing thermostat which we neither installed nor ever previously serviced. (this repair was unrelated to our installation). Our next contact in regards to this property was from **. [redacted] on Saturday, November 23, 2013 (15 months after the installation and outside of the 1 year labor warranty period and 7 months after our last contact with the property) and our office was already closed for business. Our operations manager, who handles our after hours calls, spoke to **. [redacted] and explained the charges relating to an after hours service call. **. [redacted] felt that we should come out to service her heat at no charge. We had NEVER previously serviced the heat system at this location (indoor air handler with hot water coil for heat) and any problem with the heat is unrelated to the outdoor AIR CONDITIONER which we installed. The call from **. [redacted] on November 23, 2013 was the FIRST time we were ever contacted in regards to the heat at the property, both other contacts with the home were in regards to the cooling system only. We called **. [redacted] on Monday, when our office opened, and explained to her that we never serviced her heat and so a service call on her heat would be a chargable call. She refused to pay and threatened that if we didn't come out for free she was going to report us to the Revdex.com. Our operations manager and owner both attempted to discuss the situation with **. [redacted] and she hung up on both of them when they would not agree to come service her heat for free.

**. [redacted] has NEVER paid our company any money EVER for any service on her old or new system nor did she pay us for the installation. [redacted] Services was contracted to replace her existing outdoor air conditioning unit with a new air conditioning unit. Apparently she has contacted another company which is suggesting to her that she should have a heat pump system installed and is quoting her $8000. We have never given **. [redacted] any pricing for a heat pump system. We replaced only the cooling component of her HVAC system (the air conditioner) which also consists of an indoor blower and indoor hot water coil for heating. If there is a problem with her heat, it is related to those components which we've neither installed nor serviced. Also, **. [redacted] heat worked just fine for the entire winter following her initial installation and we were only notified of a problem 15 months later when, apparently, her heating components failed.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Information submitted by **. [redacted] is not true. The heat system DID NOT work last year and I have receipts to prove that a company was contacted on October 29th 2012 to determine why my heat was not working. At that time it was determined that the heating unit was dependent on a reversal switch that was supposed to be located on (and had previously been located on) the hvac unit. [redacted] was not initially called because it was not known that the heating unit was not working due to an incompatible hvac system.
