Omega Home Improvements Inc Reviews (6)

We all knew it was going to be a tough job on our 117 year old Victorian home, but Omega did it! As soon as the weather broke this spring, they made it a priority to get it done quickly & efficiently. They even put our weather vane back on the highest peak at the front of the house. I find myself looking at our new roof every time I drive past our home.......wonderful job!

Wonderful First Class Service from "Beginning to End"

Review: Terrible!!!!!!!!..I signed up to have windows done by Omega Home Improvements located in Irwin. The sales guy preached how they use their own employees and never subcontract anything out... The sales guy gave the family business pitch and how they take care of their customers.... They have impeccable customer service etc..We decided to sign up and use Omega. Well they dented the siding on my house at every window location. Omega blamed the subcontractor who did the work. I was furious and they were relieved when we accepted their offer. They agreed to replace only one side of our house siding or to replace two sliding glass doors. This was around the end of Sept... We called them and they said to call back in November because they were so busy. We called in November and choose to do the doors. They said the weather was getting too cold and to wait to the spring. I called in the spring and finally got a call back after leaving four messages over a month. Of course, [redacted] had amnesia about the whole thing and said we can only do one door. We agreed to do two I said. He said I would never commit to doing two doors....but I have to check my notes because I cant remember. He tried blaming me. Why did you late so long was his quote. He said he would get back to me multiple times and never did. I had to call him another 4xs and he pretended to not remember me. We disagreed and then he said we can probably do two doors if they are standard size. I would need to come out and measure them. I called him back to set up the appt and again he had amnesia.. I cant make it out and I referred it to the owner. The owner says the siding was old and we can give you $421 dollars.. Thoroughly dissappointedDesired Settlement: I want the cash refund equivalent of two sliding doors like we agreed upon..I want the cash to pay another contractor to do it. I was quoted $1500 per door by another contractor...so $3000 dollars

Response:

Thank you for letter dated November 4th 2013 informing Omega Home Improvements of our customer's complaint regarding his siding. Our response is as follows:

Omega Home Improvements did a beautiful job. Removed our outdated tub/surround, etc., and installed a gorgeous, ceramic/mosaic tile , walk in shower, with sliding glass doors. [redacted] tile work was outstanding.

Feels like being at the [redacted], when we take our showers now!

Would recommend Omega to anyone looking for high quality workmanship.

Review: I had them put a bathroom in the basement and they did a horrible job. First day the plumbing leaked. After they fixed the leak and moved the toilet they left the concrete in the floor all lumpy. I can not do anything with it except paint the floor. They continually contact me for additional work, to the point of harassment after I have told them not to call me over the past 2 years at least 8 times. They make a point to call immediately again with a dead line after I tell them to not call again. I have not filed out a card requesting them to contact me as they tell me I did also. I use proper language and tell them they do a horrible job and I make sure all my contacts know what a bad contractor they are and not to use them. They are not a company to deal with and take advantage of people.I would like to see my complaint out on your website so others are warned.Desired Settlement: I want others to be warned. I never want them in my home again.

Response:

Thank you for your letter notifying Omega Home Improvements of Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Our response is as follows: Issue #1: Contact for additional work This customers name has been added to our interna! do not call list as of today. We are unable to say why this did not occur in the past, we have no record of her previously requesting not to be called. We can assure both her and the Bureau that she will not be contacted again. Omega Home improvements extends a sincere apology for any inconvenience this may have caused. Issue#2: Quality of job We are unable to find any record of service or request for service in this customer's records other than an initial leak that was fixed. At the conclusion of each job, Omega collects a completion form stating the work has been completed to the customer's satisfaction. This form and the change order addressing the leaking toilet are attached as exhibits A and B. While the form states that the customer is satisfied, under no circumstances does is preclude them from asking for a service call after the work is done. Furthermore, our callers are instructed to refer any customer with a complaint to our service department. We are unable to find any requests for service on this customer's job. The completed date of Ms. [redacted]'s project was February 1st 2009. During this time, our interiors department was under different management. Since we have no record or reference point, we would like the opportunity to revisit the project and address any issues, There would be no costs to Ms. [redacted] either for the Inspection or any work that would follow. Omega has gone to great lengths in the past to rectify problems and we respectfully request to do the same here. Given the chance, we will do our best to make it right.

Review: We purchased windows from this company 11 months ago. We started noticing that a window started sweating about 2 months ago. We called the co. to ask them to come out to look at it. After 2 days, we got a return phone call, left on our answering machine. Stating, the windows are fine, if they are sweating on the inside or outside, there was no need to come out to look at them. There are now 2 windows dripping wet inside, called them again, and again we are told there is nothing wrong with them. They will not come out to look at them. Very poor service. Would not purchase anything from this Co. again. Especially when they make no effort to even look at a problem.Desired Settlement: I want them to acknowledge a problem, and replace or correct the problem.

Response:

Thank you for letter dated November 5th 2013 informing Omega Home Improvements of our customer's complaint regarding her windows. Our response is as follows:

Our customer is complaining about condensation on the inside of two of her windows. We have twice attempted to explain to her that this is not a problem with the window but rather an indoor humidity issue. Windows do not cause condensation therefore windows cannot cure condensation. Unless the moisture is between the panes of glass on the window which indicates a seal failure, there is nothing that can be done to the window to remedy the problem as the window is not causing it.

Interior condensation calls are rather common in the early part of the heating season as it is a normal reaction to blame the new windows when condensation appears. Once a seal failure is ruled out, we attempt to explain to the customer that humidity is the cause of the condensation. We then ask them a series of questions in an attempt to help find the source of excess humidity and finally make suggestions to lower the humidity. Finally, we direct the customer to research the issue as there is a wealth of information available from multiple sources. It is not our policy to visit the home in an attempt to solve moisture problems. Omega specializes in window replacement, not moisture control. The suggestions we make to the customer regarding locating moisture sources and lowering humidity are common industry practices. In most cases, following these common recommendations will alleviate the condensation. In extreme cases, it is recommended that the customer consult with and industry professional who specializes in moisture control.

In conclusion, Omega Home Improvements, Inc maintains that our customer's "problem" is not caused by her window but by the humidity in her home. We are attaching three separate brochures that hopefully will help educate her on this issue. These exhibits are but a sample of the plethora of information available to consumers on this subject. Should our customer ever have any issues with the window itself such as seal failure, glass breakage, parts failure etc, Omega will gladly honor our warranties in a timely manner. Since this issue is one of humidity and not the window itself there is no window problem for Omega to come "look at". We sincerely hope that the information we are providing will help our customer understand her situation. Moreover, we strongly suggest that the recommendations made regarding moisture control are followed.

Desired Settlement:

"I want them to acknowledge a problem, and replace or correct the problem"

Response to desired settlement: Windows do not cause condensation. Condensation is a result of excess humidity. Please refer to the enclosed information for recommendations on moisture control. As long as the condensation can be wiped off and is not between the panes of glass (seal failure) the window is functioning properly. Should seal failure occur, Omega will promptly replace the glass as this is a product issue. Humidity control is the responsibility of the homeowner. We hope the enclosed information will help.
