... [redacted]                                         ... February 22, 2016     Ms. [redacted] Revdex.com Serving Western Pennsylvania 400 Holiday Drive, Suite 220 Pittsburgh, PA 15220   RE:  Complaint #[redacted] Against Omni Electric   Dear Ms. [redacted]   Since Omni Electric’s letter of 2/22/16 continues to be full or lies and inaccuracies, we stand by our request for a full refund from Omni.   As God is our witness, Omni’s work was either NOT DONE OR DONE DECEITFULLY AND UNSCRUPULOUSLY.  Bottom line is that it was imperative that we hire another electrician for safety reasons AND to actually complete the work we hired Omni to do.  THERE IS NO OTHER POSSIBLE REASON TO HIRE AND PAY ANOTHER ELECTRICAL COMPANY.  We are fortunate that our new electricians knew what they were doing.   Consumers count on Revdex.com to hold businesses accountable, but it seems that Omni has their own set of rules.  Perhaps Revdex.com should have an unbiased electrician make an assessment of our complaint.  Nevertheless, Revdex.com needs to warn consumers not to hire Omni, or they will regret it, as we did!   Sincerely,     [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
• Mr. [redacted] called our office; we quoted him our minimum service call which is $139.50 which includes our service, call and 1 hour of service time. • We dispatched an electrician to his home on 11/26/14. Our tech reported to the office how much time and materials it would take to complete the project. • Mr. [redacted] scheduled the work with our office on 11/26/14 with the work to be completed on 12/1/14. He was quoted over the phone a total of $295.00 to complete the work.   As stated in my complaint initially, the $139.50 quote was for one hour, and I was told by Omni they charge hourly for every hour after that. The quote of $295.00 was a quote for 3 hours of work. The technician was not there for more than 2 hours. Money is not a big issue in this case, as you can clearly see the bigger issue in my below comments about the installation.       • I explained to him that a surface mounted wire mold box would have to be used because his walls in his older home are made up of rock lath and plaster. If a hole is attempted to be cut in it, it will weaken the plaster and possibly crack the plaster with a possibility of large chunks of plaster falling off the wall. Also the junction box that holds the receptacle cannot be securely fastened to rock lath and plaster style walls. The box used is designed to be surface mounted, it is decorative and only sticks out from the wall 1/2”. It is commonly used for this application.   The phone call and “explanation” that I received was very unprofessional and did not clear any of my issues up. He was very rude from the moment I picked up the phone. I could not get a word in as he screamed through the phone and eventually hung up on me. As for the explanation of why they installed a mounted box, this is not in agreement with 2 other electricians I have been in contact with since. As explained to me by these other electricians, they cut boxes in plaster all the time with no issues, and securely fasten the boxes to rock lath and plaster style walls regularly. They said it takes a little more work, but that is how it should be done with no question. I also have it done this way on the same walls within the same room for the other outlets. The box that he says “only sticks out from the wall .5 inches, actually sticks out 1.75 inches (See attached picture). So either he is lying or he doesn’t know anything about the box that he installed on my wall.         • In summary, Mr. [redacted] was quoted a price. The work was performed while Mr. [redacted] watched. Mr. [redacted] paid the bill in full at the time the service was performed. There were no questions or complaints from Mr. [redacted] while my electrician was present. The price quoted was an hourly quoted price, and I was charged for extra hours. There were questions/complaints while the electrician was present, the same questions/complaints I called about after the install. I asked him why there was a huge box sticking out of my wall, when no other outlet in my house looked like that. The technician used the same excuse as to why it was installed that way. I am not an electrician and did not know for sure at the time whether the installation was correct or not, so I had no choice but to accept it. But after reviewing with other electricians, I now know that it was a "lazy install". . • Attached is our field work ticket that Mr. [redacted] signed stating all work had been satisfactorily completed. It is Omni Electric’s policy to try to satisfy all of our customers. Had we been able to recess the box in the wall we would have. The fact is we could have caused extensive damage to his wall making us the responsible party to repair. We were looking out for the customer’s best interest. Satisfying customers should not consist of doing a "lazy install", leaving the customers walls filthy with hand smears, and screaming then hanging up on the customer. And again, according to other electricians, the box could have been recessed without causing any damage, and it should have been done.

February 11, 2016Revdex.com 400 Holiday Dr. Suite 220 Pittsburgh, PA 15220RE: [redacted]To whom it may concern:In reference to customer's statement complaint ID: [redacted]. First let me say that Omni Electric, Inc. has been...

in business for over 27 years. We strive to do quality work and to satisfy our customers. This project was no different; we went to customer's home, made a list of customers repair items, as to customers prepared list. We then sent a proposal (see attached) outlining each and every repair item or new installation items. On October 30th 2015 Omni Electric, Inc. completed all the work according to the proposal. The work was reviewed with the customer and a payment in full was issued. We were not notified of any problems until December 18th, 2015. This problem concern was an un¬energized wire dedicated for new dish washer. The outside casing only unknowingly was torn while being installed. This tear was concealed in the wall and not visible at time of completion. The internal wire conductors were not damaged and posed no shock or fire hazard due to DE energization. All other work was completed in full. We advised customer that we have a 1 year warranty parts and labor and would be glad to return to install new wire (see attached letter and pictures). Per our letter we would have returned to install new wiring but to date we have never been contacted by said home owner. In regards to customer request to speak with owner, upon calling Omni Electric, Inc. office customer was asked to leave name and phone number and refused to leave information. Mr.[redacted]s Omni Electric, Inc.'s superintendent and runs all field operations. Again we strive to satisfy all of our customer^md we stand by our warranties.Thank you/J/Greg K[redacted]PresidentOmni Electric, Inc.

We are sorry for the customers dissatisfaction with our work.  The reason again for using a surface mounted decorative box was merely to protect the integrity of the rock lath and plaster walls.  Furthermore an old work type box could not be properly supported unless a stud was in the exact location the homeowner wanted to place the receptacle.  If Omni Electric would have tried to cut the lath and plaster wall it could have caused extreme damage to the plaster and/or weakened the surrounding plaster around the box thus causing plaster to fall off the wall or crack.  This would have made Omni Electric responsible for the damage.  The customer observed us installing the box, paid and signed our work ticket stating all work was satisfactorily completed.  The customer never questioned my service electrician as to why the box was surface mounted and not recessed.  I don't know what more we could have done to improve our service for this customer.Thank you[redacted], President

Customer is selling home , home inspector found two minor violations concerning breaker size and no inspection sticker. The job was installed over 6 years ago. report can be obtained by calling West Penn Power. The electrical inspector and Omni Electric does not keep records after 5 years.  If a violation exists it was done by someone else. I advised customer to obtain inspection record by calling [redacted] Power. Customer got verbally combative and demanding. I advised customer that we could repair the problem for a service call fee.

I read the company reply and some of it was correct, but some was not.  First off, I did not become verbally combative and demanding with them.  Second, he did not advise me to contact the electrical inspector; he said he would do this and get back to me.  (This was the nature of my original call a few days earlier, when I was told he would look into it.)  But, I called back the next day when I didn't hear anything, due to a strict timeline with the closing company and was told he was still checking into it.During my initial phone conversation, he was defensive from the moment I said something was found wrong on the breaker box by a home inspector.  The gist of the conversation entailed (paraphrase): "We did not install it wrong.  We would not do a job like that.  If it was done incorrectly, either you did it or someone else."  When it was "suggested" that the inspector found error and no one else has ever worked on that box (or even touched it), he became angry in tone and either hung up the phone or we were disconnected.  After I called back, we had a brief conversation about the same things and he hung up the phone again and said "We're done here."

Review: I hired Omni Electric to upgrade an old electrical panel to a breaker box. This was done approximately six years ago. I had a recent home inspection and the inspector cited two main issues in his report: there was no inspection sticker on the box and there were estimated five instances of improperly sized breakers, which present a safety concern, as the wires could heat up without tripping the breakers.

I contacted the company and told them the problem. I was met with resistance and told that it was too long ago and they would not warranty the work. It didn't matter if there installer did it incorrectly, and put me at risk. I was told that anyone could have come in since then and did that. The fact of the matter is that no one ever touched the box since then, aside from flipping the breakers when power went out. There would have been no reason for anyone to.

He proceeded to deny any wrong and said "they wouldn't have done that." Ultimately, he hung up on me; I called back and he hung up again, saying "We're done here."Desired Settlement: I want this fixed and done right, and the inspection sticker and information, if it was done to begin with. If it wasn't, it needs inspected.

Review: I had called them to install an outlet in my bedroom. Their cost quoted to me was 140 for the first hour and 65 for every hour after. The electrician told me it would be 3 hours to install, so the total quote was $295 after everything. The guy who then installed the outlet took 2 hours max and still charged me the full $295. The installation that was done was not satisfactory. He didn't fish the box through the wall so the outlet would be flush with the wall. He installed a big box on the outside of the wall. My bedroom looks much worse with it sticking out of the wall. I asked him why, and he said that he didn't want to go through the wall because of the lathe and plaster. I knew this was not right as other outlets in my room are flush with and inside the wall. I have spoken to 2 other electricians since then who confirmed my suspicions that the install was lazy, because the lathe and plaster should not have been a deterrent to making the outlet flush with the wall. It just would have taken a little more time.I called this company to inform them that I wanted the outlet to be inside the wall and that the quote given and the time spent on the installation was not in sync. The lady told me [redacted] would call me back. 2 days later and I did not receive a call. I called back and the lady again told me [redacted] would call. Finally [redacted] called me, and was very rude. I couldn't get a word in as he yelled over me to tell me everything I was saying was wrong, and that they did nothing wrong. He then hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I paid $295 for a service that was quoted as being lower, and for a service that was not done the right way.

Everything that [redacted] said in this response was said in his previous response. So for the sake of repeating myself, my first reply can apply entirely to this second response of his. He claims he is sorry. The only reason he is saying that now is to save face, because I escalated the issue to the Revdex.com. When I contacted him directly on the phone, he shouted at me and hung up on me. He was not sorry at all then. He also is either not reading my replies or is lying about the facts, because as I said in my previous reply, I did question the service electrician as to why the box was surface mounted. He says he doesn't know what more he could have done to improve the service. They could have simply installed it the correct way, not take the lazy way out, which resulted in a big ugly box sticking out of my wall (See my previous reply as to why rock lathe and plaster is not and should not be a deterrent to installing the standard old work type box, as confirmed by multiple other electric companies).

Regards,

Requested a quote to have an outside outlet installed and received an email reply. Very professional and reasonable price. Individual that was sent over was not aware of the work that was supposed to be done. Had a poor attitude and did not intend to do the work that was expected. I called the company and they said they didn't have time to deal with the situation so I cancelled the job. I would not call them again.
