We are sorry for the customers dissatisfaction with our work The reason again for using a surface mounted decorative box was merely to protect the integrity of the rock lath and plaster walls Furthermore an old work type box could not be properly supported unless a stud was in the exact location the homeowner wanted to place the receptacle If Omni Electric would have tried to cut the lath and plaster wall it could have caused extreme damage to the plaster and/or weakened the surrounding plaster around the box thus causing plaster to fall off the wall or crack This would have made Omni Electric responsible for the damage The customer observed us installing the box, paid and signed our work ticket stating all work was satisfactorily completed The customer never questioned my service electrician as to why the box was surface mounted and not recessed I don't know what more we could have done to improve our service for this customer.Thank you [redacted] , President

I read the company reply and some of it was correct, but some was not First off, I did not become verbally combative and demanding with them Second, he did not advise me to contact the electrical inspector; he said he would do this and get back to me (This was the nature of my original call a few days earlier, when I was told he would look into it.) But, I called back the next day when I didn't hear anything, due to a strict timeline with the closing company and was told he was still checking into it.During my initial phone conversation, he was defensive from the moment I said something was found wrong on the breaker box by a home inspector The gist of the conversation entailed (paraphrase): "We did not install it wrong We would not do a job like that If it was done incorrectly, either you did it or someone else." When it was "suggested" that the inspector found error and no one else has ever worked on that box (or even touched it), he became angry in tone and either hung up the phone or we were disconnected After I called back, we had a brief conversation about the same things and he hung up the phone again and said "We're done here."

Customer is selling home , home inspector found two minor violations concerning breaker size and no inspection stickerThe job was installed over years agoOmni Electric Inconly warranties work one year parts and laborThe violation is a simple breaker exchange on two circuitsThe inspection report can be obtained by calling West Penn PowerThe electrical inspector and Omni Electric does not keep records after years If a violation exists it was done by someone elseI advised customer to obtain inspection record by calling [redacted] PowerCustomer got verbally combative and demandingI advised customer that we could repair the problem for a service call fee

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below • Mr [redacted] called our office; we quoted him our minimum service call which is $which includes our service, call and hour of service time• We dispatched an electrician to his home on 11/26/Our tech reported to the office how much time and materials it would take to complete the project• Mr [redacted] scheduled the work with our office on 11/26/with the work to be completed on 12/1/He was quoted over the phone a total of $to complete the work As stated in my complaint initially, the $quote was for one hour, and I was told by Omni they charge hourly for every hour after thatThe quote of $was a quote for hours of workThe technician was not there for more than hoursMoney is not a big issue in this case, as you can clearly see the bigger issue in my below comments about the installation • I explained to him that a surface mounted wire mold box would have to be used because his walls in his older home are made up of rock lath and plasterIf a hole is attempted to be cut in it, it will weaken the plaster and possibly crack the plaster with a possibility of large chunks of plaster falling off the wallAlso the junction box that holds the receptacle cannot be securely fastened to rock lath and plaster style wallsThe box used is designed to be surface mounted, it is decorative and only sticks out from the wall 1/2”It is commonly used for this application The phone call and “explanation” that I received was very unprofessional and did not clear any of my issues upHe was very rude from the moment I picked up the phoneI could not get a word in as he screamed through the phone and eventually hung up on meAs for the explanation of why they installed a mounted box, this is not in agreement with other electricians I have been in contact with sinceAs explained to me by these other electricians, they cut boxes in plaster all the time with no issues, and securely fasten the boxes to rock lath and plaster style walls regularlyThey said it takes a little more work, but that is how it should be done with no questionI also have it done this way on the same walls within the same room for the other outletsThe box that he says “only sticks out from the wall inches, actually sticks out inches (See attached picture)So either he is lying or he doesn’t know anything about the box that he installed on my wall • In summary, Mr [redacted] was quoted a priceThe work was performed while Mr [redacted] watchedMr [redacted] paid the bill in full at the time the service was performedThere were no questions or complaints from Mr [redacted] while my electrician was presentThe price quoted was an hourly quoted price, and I was charged for extra hoursThere were questions/complaints while the electrician was present, the same questions/complaints I called about after the installI asked him why there was a huge box sticking out of my wall, when no other outlet in my house looked like thatThe technician used the same excuse as to why it was installed that wayI am not an electrician and did not know for sure at the time whether the installation was correct or not, so I had no choice but to accept itBut after reviewing with other electricians, I now know that it was a "lazy install"• Attached is our field work ticket that Mr [redacted] signed stating all work had been satisfactorily completedIt is Omni Electric’s policy to try to satisfy all of our customersHad we been able to recess the box in the wall we would haveThe fact is we could have caused extensive damage to his wall making us the responsible party to repairWe were looking out for the customer’s best interestSatisfying customers should not consist of doing a "lazy install", leaving the customers walls filthy with hand smears, and screaming then hanging up on the customerAnd again, according to other electricians, the box could have been recessed without causing any damage, and it should have been done
