Review: they installed new gutters on our home, and in the process damaged all of the existing plastic drip edge and some of the shingles, some of the existing aluminum drip edge was pulled off the fascia and not reattached properly with screws and caulk, the gutters are not properly installed they are extremely whobbly and hold water, they left a large amount of sharp metal debris all around the propertyDesired Settlement: I would like them to replace the damaged plastic drip edge, and straighten the gutters so the water drains properly and reattach the existing aluminum that was pulled away from the house with new screws and caulk

Response:

Mrs. [redacted] Dispute Resolution Specialist Revdex.com of Western Pa Please accept this letter in response to the complaint filed by [redacted] against On Top Gutter Protection. On 7/20/15 we installed new aluminum gutters on the home at [redacted]. We left an invoice for the amount of $1000.00 for the owner to mail in payment. The next day the owner called us ([redacted]) to express concerns about a plastic drip edge that was cracked but still functioning. Brandon (the Business owner) explained to the owner that plastic drip edge is not normally used on roofs because it very fragile and breakable and that the plastic was very dry rotted when we were there to do the job. He also explained to the owner that it may not have been from us walking on the roof that since the plastic was dry rotted that it could have been cracking from being in the direct sunlight. He recommended to the owner that he call the roofing company that installed the drip edge and talk to them about his concerns. At this time the owner became very irate, was calling our employees nasty names and was very unreasonable about the situation. Brandon again tried to explain that we do not deal with plastic products and that we can repair the damage with aluminum but the owner was still seemingly upset. At that point Brandon hung up the phone due to the fact that the owner was being verbally abusive. The Next day a text message was sent to Michael’s fiancé explaining that we were going to have another crew come out to assess and repair the areas that were cracked with new aluminum drip edge. By this time the check that was mailed to us for $1000.00 was cancelled. The owner said they would send a new check after the damage was fixed. Our head installer (Steve) proceeded to go back to the home and repair the damage. According to our employee [redacted] came outside while they were working and began to complain about the way the aluminum flashing looked, that it looked like “garbage”. It was again reiterated to the owner that we do not deal with plastic products and that we had even called multiple other roofing companies to research on where we could find this product or if any other companies have used a plastic product before. At this time the owner said he did not want any more work done on his home. The employee (Steve) called me (Kelle) at this time and explained to me what had happened. At no point in time did any damage occur to the gutter we put onto the home. The gutters have nothing to do with the drip edge because they are attached to the side of the home not the roof where our employees were doing repairs. I instructed him to tell the owner that if he can find and buy the plastic drip edge materials that On Top Gutter will replace the drip edge at no cost to the owner. The owner agreed at that time that he would begin to look for the material and contact us if he found it so we could come back and fix it. At that time the owner still did not reissue any new form of payment for the original gutters that were installed. A few days later, I, (Kelle) left a message for the owners to further discuss how we could resolve the situation. The next day we received a text message on Brandon’s Phone that they decided to have some estimates done by other companies and did not want to use our services to repair the damage. In reference to the other concerns that the owner has written in the complaint you have sent me is the following explanations. The gutter apron he is speaking about is the same thing as the drip edge and I have addressed this in the above statement. Fascia board is made of wood, the estimate provided to the owner was not for a fascia wrap to be added onto the boards, it was for the gutters only and the owner never expressed any interest in this feature. The downspouts were moved at the owners request and he was told by Brandon and the workers that the downspouts would have to be angled to be the way he wanted it. We use all new aluminum hangers on all our gutters so I am not sure where the owner’s confusion is coming into this. I am guessing that he is not used to seeing the type we that we placed in his gutters because we use a high quality hanger that looks different that many others on the market. As per our workers that were on site for the service calls and original job, there was no visible damage to any shingles or anything else on the roof besides the drip edge. At this point we could care less about collecting payment from the owner after the rude and disrespectful treatment we received from him. We would just request that we have no further contact with him. Our company made multiple attempts to responsibly rectify the situation and concerns of [redacted]. If you have any further questions or concerns you may contact me at, [redacted] Or [redacted]. ([redacted]) Thank You, Kelle H[redacted]
