Review: My husband & I were looking for a location where we could renew our wedding vows. We found a special package from the business for a 5 night stay in October for $700.00 that was posted on their website. When trying to book the reservation, I noticed that it did not total the advertised price. I called & spoke with the owner about this and she said she didn't know that was the price on the website but that she would honor the $700.00 package. I made the reservation and a confirmation was sent to my husband's email. The next day I got an email from her stating that because this was a busy season they could not honor the stated package price. I checked the website and the package had been changed to $850.00. I emailed her and stated that the wrong information on the website was not my fault and that she should keep her word. She replied that because they were a small business they could not afford to charge the $700.00 as stated on the website. This caused us much frustration and stress as we thought we had found the perfect place. We have a copy of all documents if needed. The confirmation and an email that I resent to the owner where I copied & pasted the verbage of the package that was offered when I replied to the owner in an email.Desired Settlement: Would they reconsider and let us stay at the $700.00 price as long as they would not be hostile towards us. It is a beautiful place and my heart was broken because I thought I had found the perfect place for our wedding renewal.

Washington, DC 20005-3404 Dear Ms. Campbell,

This is in response to a customer complaint re ‘Advertising Issue’, ID 9676387.

Though a price of $700 was posted on our website for a 5-night stay in October, it also states in our Policy Section that ‘Price subject to change without notice’. This is a standard business

policy.

October is high tourist season here and as a small business - 3-room Bed & Breakfast - we are dependent on full occupancy, at full rates during the Fall Season. Also, we don’t usually cater to weddings or elopements.

The cost of $850 for a 5-night stay in October cannot be reduced. All rooms book up for $185 mid-week and $195 weekends with a 2-night minimum stay in October. At $850 for 5 nights the guests would still have a savings of $75.

Please convey my sincere apology for this inconvenience to your customer.

To the VA Revdex.comI tried to reply to this email, however, I was unable to write anything in the body of the response email. I was going to reject the business reply. I would like to do so here. Although it says that prices are subject to change in their aid, we received a conformation email stating they were happy to accept our reservation and also stated the price of 700.00. The owner states they usually do not handle weddings, which may be true. However, I advised her that we would make our own arrangements for the wedding (which was only going to be the two of us We only requested that we hold the service outside and only use the interior of the Inn in case of inclement weather. It was only the next day that I received an email stating they could not honor the previously accepted reservation. This is an unacceptable business practice and others should not have to be treated this way. [redacted]
