One Day Bath Incorporated Reviews (1)

Although the company had mixed reviews on-line, I gave them a try. Their only area of work was re-glazing (coating) tubs so I thought they would know what they were doing. The work they agreed to was to re-glaze one tub and fix a chip on a second tub. I scheduled the work for 1pm on 3/17/16. at 9:40am on the day the work was scheduled I got a call from the technician, Joe, saying he was at the property. I told him he wasn't expected until 1pm and that he should call his office. I called the office and they said there was a miscommunication and that the tech should not have showed up early or called me.
Later the same day, since I am the landlord, I left my office at 12:30 to get to the property on time. After I arrived at the property and just 5 minutes before the 1pm appointment, I got a call from the technician that was doing the work. He was an hour away and wouldn't be there until 2pm. I asked him why on earth he didn't call me as soon as he knew he was going to be late, he had no explanation. I called the office and asked why no one had told me of the 1 hour delay and that I could have just stayed at my office, and they said it wasn't supposed to happen, just like showing up 4 hours early wasn't supposed to happen. I waited at the property for an hour for him to show up. He finally showed up. Within the first hour while he was preparing the tub he hit the water valve and flooded the hallway below. Thankfully my partner was there to turn the shut off valves. He still wasn't done at 5:30p when my partner who was staying at the property had to leave, so I had to take a taxi to the house and continue to wait while he finished.
Immediately I pointed out that the old color of the tub was showing through on the front and that the chip fix had dripped down the side of the tub,and that there were areas where the glaze was almost see-through and others too thick. He said that overnight the glaze would become more opaque and even out. He totally lied. Furthermore, he had no care instructions or warranty information to give me and told me to call the office the next day for them to email it to me. I couldn't understand why he didn't have piles of this information if this is all they did. He also couldn't process my credit card and kept calling the office over and over again even though he knew no one was there since it was after 6pm. So I had to write my credit card number on a piece of paper for him. These were all red flags.
I returned the next day since the customer has to remove all of the masking paper and tape covering half of the bathroom and to re-caulk per their instructions.
The repairs looked exactly as poor as the day before so I took photos and I spoke to Charlie who said that if it's not perfect they'll make it right.
I had to spend another day to meet Anthony to confirm the poor quality of the work, at which time his only comment was "I've seen worse".
He agreed it needed to be redone and we scheduled a 3rd appointment at which time I clearly, repeatedly and specifically said that I did not want the same tech to come back. He said no problem.
The new appointment was set for 4/13/16 somewhere between 9am and 10am. At 8:40am I got a call from the person who was to strip the improper glazing and fix the mistake from the previous technician--it was the same person who did the initial unsatisfactory work! I told him I specifically told his boss I didn't want him to come back. He said that was office policy and that he'd tell his boss to call me. His boss, Paul said that I can't tell them how to run their company and either Joe fixed his own work or nothing. I told him I told Charlie when he confirmed the poor quality of the work that I didn't want the same technician. Paul didn't care, said it was the same tech or forget it. From there, the conversation went downhill and all he kept saying is that the customer can't fire the tech, only he could and that everyone has a bad day and I have to give him another shot.
I've been a landlord for 23 years and I've never had a more unbelievable conversation with a less professional contractor with a more incomprehensible policy. Seriously, I've hired dozens of contractors since 1986, and One Day Bath has to be the worst I've ever encountered. From beginning to end, they've done the worst work with the worst customer service I've personally encountered. I worked for a home builder and contractors for 7 years and I cannot understand how One Day Bath is still in business. This is the first time in my 48 years that I'm complaining to the Revdex.com and Yelp...that says it all.
