Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Essentially none of what Mr. J[redacted] has written is correct. I brought the comforter in myself on December 30. I was told it would be ready to pick up January 4th. I was unable to pick up the item that day because I went into labor and had my son the next day. The next week, on January 11 my friend went to pick up the item when it was discovered it had been sent home with the wrong costumer.  On January 12, a woman from Browns called my friend and let her know the item had been returned but the customer who had returned it was a smoker and the item had been opened and had a smoke odor. I called back to tell her I did not feel comfortable I accepting the comforter back after it had been exposed to cigarette smoke. I purchased this comforter after a house fire and my old comforter had been replaced by my insurance company because it was damaged by smoke. Most of my clothes were cleaned but the insurance company did not feel it was safe to clean the comforter because of its density. Third hand smoke is a real concern with cigarette smoke and I don’t feel that I should have to bear the burden of that concern due to Browns mistake. I don’t need to come see the comforter to assess third hand smoke. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble and chosen another cleaner, which I will be sure to do next time and I will share my experience wherever I can. Regards,[redacted]

To whom it may concern,     In response to the letter of 2/1/18, case #[redacted] of one down comforter from [redacted]. These are the facts as I know them. The blanket was brought in to be cleaned on 1/15/18 by Miss [redacted]’s room mate. The due date for pick up was 1/17/18...

after 4:00. Her room mate put it in under Miss [redacted]’s name. The CSR who took the order was Amy. Come the 17th of January another customer; [redacted], C. came in to pick up her order. She was accidentally given [redacted]’s blanket along with her own order. Later that day [redacted]’s room main came in to pick up the blanket which we no longer had. My CSR quickly understood what had happened, and called the other C. [redacted] to have her please return the blanket that was accidentally given out to her. She returned the blanket the very next day, which was 1/18/18. It had never left the back of her car, and stated that the plastic bag we package our blankets in had never been opened.  When the blanket was returned there was some question as to whether there was some smoke odor in the blanket so it was re-washed and aired out. At some point either [redacted] or her room mate was told we would refund her the cost of cleaning which was either $** or $**. I am the only person who has any authority to replace a garment or household item.  After the 18th there was some laps of time that we couldn’t either reach [redacted] because there was some confusion as to the phone# to reach her. Then the weekend of the 20th and the 21st. The original CSR who waited on the room mate was sick the 22nd and the 23rd. There was some correspondence that continued for the rest of that week.None of this was brought to my attention until the 29th. This is when the blanket came into my possession, and I attempted to contact [redacted]. In the meantime I dry cleaned the blanket and deodorized it as this is what you do with fire, smoke damaged items. When [redacted] got back in touch with me on 2/1/18 I stated that I had taken care of her blanket her rebuttal was that she wanted $[redacted]. My response was that I was not going to reimburse her for the cost of the blanket. I have been in the laundry, dry cleaning industry for 35 years. My grandfather started this company in 1943. My uncle owned it until 2014 at which Tim I became the owner. I have 75 years of accumulated dry cleaning knowledge plus I have cleaned thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars worth of fire, smoke damaged clothes and household items in my 35 years. I also have an excellent track record of taking care of any claims I am responsible for. In my professional opinion, this blanket is in better condition than when it came to me in the first place. I still stand that I will not charge her for the cost of the cleaning but I will not pay out $[redacted] for a year and a half old blanket that, as I stated is in better condition than what it was when first brought in. As a side note [redacted] could have done herself a great deal of good to at least come to me in person to at least see the blanket herself before just refusing acceptance and demanding money. To me that says a lot! Best Regards,Jordan Cary J[redacted]
