Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The inquiring of the car repairs occurred in a weeks time, I inquired about the repairs on the Monday of the week of April 3rd and was told to take the car on the following day Was told that car would be ready on that FridayI stopped by on Friday during am to ask about the status of car and was told it was almost done Left the business and called during late afternoon to see if car was ready it was almost closing time (4:pm) and closer to the weekend Was told it was ready and to pick it up My brother gave us a ride to the shop and at that point I was told that there was no damage to the fuel pump and the car had stalled once during driving test My daughter proceeded to take the car home and I left with my brother My daughter called an hour later to tell me the car had stalled on her After we got the car home I called the shop and it was already closed for the weekend The car continued to give problems all weekend On Monday morning I went to the shop and informed them of the weekend issues I asked them why they released the car if they knew it continued to stall Their response was that they don't have time to drive a car long enough to assess the repairs This is my yr olds car and she used her entire paycheck with confidence that it would be repaired as they had initially stated I feel this unfair practice and unprofessional behavior on the business part as they may have been aware of any possible additional problems with the car and did not provide services as a mechanic shop should I would not take any of my vehicles to this shop in the future What does this tell our future generation about business practices in our society Regards, [redacted] [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, the consumer must give a reason why they are rejecting the responseIf the consumer does not provide a reason if he complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]

ID ***Prior to the customer and her mother bringing the vehicle in, she called several times for two weeks and was very persistent on getting an estimate for repairing her vehicle We told her that we had to look at the vehicle first to make a diagnosis on the problem She finally
agreed to have her vehicle towed to the shop. The customer is listed as (*** ***) Her mother, (*** ***) is the person that we have been speaking with this entire time (*** ***) stopped in to ask how much to repair her vehicleI told her I couldn't give her an accurate estimate without diagnosing the car and seeing what repairs needed to be done She wanted us to look at the car and requested that we tow the car to the shopWe did not charge for the tow The car was towed in on April 3, She told us that her son had replaced the fuel pump The fuel pump fuse kept blowing after he replaced the pump (As a result of the fuel pump fuse blowing, the car quits running.) When we looked at the car, we found that the wires to the fuel pump on top of the gas tank were shorting out We told her that to discover this information, we had to drop the fuel tank When we dropped it, we verified that the wires were indeed pinched between the tank and the body of the car The son used household wire nuts to secure the wires, which is not the correct or safe way of repairing the wires We repaired the wires and re-installed the gas tank The car started and ran without blowing a fuse She was charged for only what was done: remove fuel pump and to diagnose fuel pump fuse blowing We fixed the issue of the fuel pump fuse blowing and the pinched wires I told her that there could be a different problem other than the no start problem/blown fuses it was originally brought in for and would take more diagnostic and driving timeShe did not want to leave the car or do further testing During the day while we were working on the car she called several times and came in at least twice to to see if the car was ready I spoke with (***, *** and another gentleman) for at least 30-minutes explaining that the car might have further problems because of the wires being pinched that it could have damaged the pump and that the car would have to be driven to find any other issues It did stall on us one time but did not stall againShe said she would drive it herself She was in a hurry to get her car back She didn't want to pay for further diagnostics She called a few days later informing us that the car was stalling I asked her if the fuel pump fuse was blown She said no She kept insisting that she wanted us to fix the car because she has a warranty I explained to her that the warranty applies to the work and parts we repaired This was not a pump that we installedShe insisted that we honor the warranty I again tried to explain how the warranty works I mentioned that we need to look at the car again to see what else was wrong but she insisted that we need to fix it She called several times regarding this issue I spoke to her several times explaining this Finally I agreed to do the diagnostic at no charge but I explained to her that if it was something other than what we repaired she would have to pay to fix those repairs She also wanted us to pay for the tow I told her if it was something that we did wrong, we would pay for the tow but if it was not related to something we did then she would need to pay for the tow We did not hear from her again until this complaint We did an honest repair and she was only charged for the work we did She was not charged for the full diagnostic fee of $ Her total bill was $ We feel that we have been fair and honest in our business practices but unfortunately, this customer wants more work done than what she paid for I will still honor my original offer to diagnose the stalling issue for free but I will not be able to pay for the tow bill or new repairs to her vehicle if it was not something we did (under our warranty policy.)

The
customer's mother stated that she inquired about repairs on the
Monday of the week of April and was told to bring the car in the
following day and the vehicle would be ready that FridayWe
arranged to have a tow truck pick up her vehicle on Friday April at
9:00am (this is the specific information on the tow bill) because the
vehicle was not runningWe did not charge her for the tow billWe
also did not give her a time of when the vehicle would be ready
because we did not know what was wrong with the vehicleThe
customer's mother stated that she came by in the a.mto check on the
progressThe car was towed in at 9:00amWe did not have time to
diagnose the problems yet she stopped by and called several times
that dayShe clearly indicated her urgency to get the car back
Our mechanic did a test drive but we did not have the proper time to
do longer test drives because the customer's mother kept calling to
ask about her carWe explained to her that there were other issues
but she said she couldn't pay for any more repairs and would drive
the car herselfWe fixed the fuel pump fuse issue and that is what
she was charged forOur work is honest and she paid for the work
that was doneBecause we fixed one portion of her repairs does not
mean we were negligent in fixing any other problemsWe fixed the
initial issue and the customer paid for that repairThe customer's
mother insisted on taking the vehicle, stated she did not have any
more money for further repairs and said she would drive it herself
I cannot give her money back because we repaired the electrical
short which was blowing the fuel pump fuseWe also clearly told
them that there were other problems which her receipt stated a few
(but not all of the problems)She declined the workI am still
offering to diagnose the car at no charge but they would have to pay
for the repairs and tow charge if it is not something we did

Monday March 3othWas given possible estimate on cost of repairs
based on assumption of [redacted] (mech) that it was a fuel pump issue as we did not
know what the problem was, causing the stalling of the car
 Tuesday March 31st
Personally made agreement with [redacted] to have car towed on
Wednesday April 1st
Wednesday April 1st
Car was towed at 9:am
Thursday April 2nd
Did not enquire about car, no contact with mech. Shop

Friday April 3rd
12:am personally went to shop, car was lifted up upon
arrival, [redacted] informed us car would be ready by the end of the day,
3:30 pm I called to see if repairs were completed as mech.
had stated earlier in the day, [redacted] indicated the car was ready to be picked up
4:00pm traveled to mech. shop with daughter and brother, was told
car was running and had stalled during test drive, [redacted] also indicated at that
time that fuel pump was found to be in working order
5:00pm car stalled on route home
6:00pm called shop to inform of problem, MECH. SHOP CLOSED
April 4th,5th problems with car
stalling

Monday April 6th 9:00am Personally went to shop
to inform weekend issues with car stalling,

After we picked up the car, we were never told about other
issues, in fact, [redacted] informed us that it did not need a fuel pump. He never once
indicated other issues found during repairs.
[redacted] admitted later the following week that a diagnostic had been done
prior to the repairs.  If a diagnostic was done why would they
offer to do another after repairs.  I was NEVER offered a free diagnostic, therefore:
I felt I did not need to again pay for another diagnostic or additional repairs
after said repairs were completed.  I was
not aware or told that there were any other issues with cars stalling.
My daughter and I are not mechanics , When we arranged for
the repairs to be done, we had confidence that the car would be repaired to
satisfaction. It was Not to our
satisfaction.  Since the repairs the
car has been parked In my garage with no running condition.  My daughter is out of transportation as she
was prior to repairs and is out 293.00 dollars.
My daughter did not have a problem with paying additional costs had we
been told during repairs that additional repairs and costs would be
possible.  We were NEVER informed of other issues involving the car.  In fact, upon picking up the car we were told
the car was in running condition.  The receipt (in which I have possession of)
does not indicate AT ALL that there are others issues with the car.
It is up to the mech. To determine issues involving the vehicle
at the time of the customers request for repairs.
As qualified mechanics in addition to the tools
used (diagnostic machine) , That alone should have indicated issues involved
with the car.  Initially, customers
should be informed on repairs needed on their vehicles to assure quality of work

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
The inquiring of the car repairs occurred in a weeks time,  I  inquired about the repairs on the Monday of the week of April 3rd and was told to take the car on the following day.  Was told that car would be ready on that Friday. I stopped by on Friday during am to ask about the status of car and was told it was almost done.  Left the business and called during late afternoon to see if car was ready it was almost closing time (4:pm) and closer to the weekend.  Was told it was ready and to pick it up.  My brother gave us a ride to the shop and at that point I was told that there was no damage to the fuel pump and the car had stalled once during driving test.  My daughter proceeded to take the car home and I left with my brother.  My daughter called an hour later to tell me the car had stalled on her.  After we got the car home I called the shop and it was already closed for the weekend.  The car continued to give problems all weekend.  On Monday morning I went to the shop and informed them of the weekend issues.  I asked them why they released the car if they knew it continued to stall.  Their response was that they don't have time to drive a car long enough to assess the repairs.
This is my 16 yr olds car and she used her entire paycheck with confidence that it would be repaired as they had initially stated.
I feel this unfair practice and unprofessional behavior on the business part as they may have been aware of any possible additional problems with the car and did not provide services as a mechanic shop should.  I would not take any of my vehicles to this shop in the future.
What does this tell our future generation about business practices in our society
