13, 2015. At this time the patient received and signed a treatment consent which included the rates that would be billed to her insurance for hospice services. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) sets a daily rate that is to be billed for hospice services. When a patient elects the hospice benefit, the hospice assumes the responsibility to pay for all services the patient needs, including but not limited to, medications, home medical equipment, nursing services, social services, etc. CMS sets the daily rate, as well as the rate for Medicare Advantage plans, such as Blue Cross, the patient's insurance.
