In response to the customers complaint, it should be noted that there is a balance owing of $1,for completion The reason why work stopped is because the homeowner removed building materials, drywall, baseboards, etc, which was not part of our quotation To avoid further conflict, we feel it is in his best interest to use the balance remaining to have another contractor complete the job We wish him all the best

Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: The items in question were in fact discussed upon the initial inspectionAny concerned person would not cover up a mold issue and also be concerned if there were scratches on the new windowsThe windows were not received in that condition [redacted] Sincerely, [redacted] ***

In conclusion to the customers response we replace the hot water tank and by doing so we had to drain it into the sump pump which was not working I replaced the market flow switch and tested the unit the motor was working with or without the piggyback switch of the line voltage if the sump motor
is not working at this time then for the repairs would have to be done I hope this concludes our business thank you

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/18) */
Regarding [redacted]'s renovation for a bathroom the money received was for work completed, including piping repair insulation drywall mud and tape the balance was due for the final installation of fixtures however there was a balance due of $1500 if...

[redacted] would like to proceed with the work to be completed we would gladly finish this job and a balance of $1500 would be due if we cannot come to an arrangement we wish Megan all the best
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/11/09) */
In March [redacted] came to fix my upstairs bathroom sink trap, as I was complaining of sewer smell ever so often. He cut an irregular 2-3" vertical and horizontal hole(s) to get pipe. Said the sink trap was incorrectly installed and he would fix it. I paid him 300.00 cash. He gave me an invoice for 276.00. *pic
At the same time I discussed having the downstairs fan exhaust be vented outside, he said it needed to be rigid hose not flexible, per code, core thru concrete, and he said he would utilize the existing vent structure (it was actively in use before)except it would be in the utility stack and not as visible before. He said it would be 495.00 I believe this is on the invoice...
He explained how he grouped the jobs together by trap pipe/ vent work. I said I would let him know about the basement vent work.
I called him back to say I needed the downstairs bathroom plumbing lines checked, as I ran into a problem where the pipes froze in winter. I had someone come out and tear down the drywall behind the toilet and sink to see where the line blockage was. When he came back to relook at the job, as we talked about if required by code to core thru [redacted] stated he since he would not have to core thru concrete, and the bathroom was open to insulation, he could easily reroute the bathroom fan vent through the new to be built opening in utility stack. For 200.00 I agreed we then discussed the bathroom, he said the utility stack need to be enlarged, lines, rerouted, and drywalled, and all returned back to its fully finished prior functional state for $1000.00 .
[redacted] must be confusing my job with someone else's, as my complete dollar value was never more than $1,500.00
When [redacted] opened up the downstairs bathroom utility stack, to enlarge it, he rerouted the flexible hose, from the exterior of the bathroom, thru to the utility stack. I paid him $225.00 cash he didnt have his invoice book and said he would get me one later. ( not supplied)
When [redacted] came back to work on my house,my son would leave the door unlocked for [redacted] to come and go, as his schedule dictated when he worked on my house. Over time he built the new utility stack, installed drywall, bead board, rerouted exhaust line, plumbing line, Mudded and taped. [redacted] was on his 3rd mudding. I said it looked good, he said thanks only a couple of hours left to finish the job. It may look like a lot but its not. ( ie, toilet not installed, sink, vanity, mirror, light, hand towel holder, etc bathroom not usable)
I said I could write you a cheque, he said yes, a thousand , as I'm almost done and it will only be a few more hours. On may 28,2015 I wrote [redacted] a thousand dollar cheque.
*pic he said he didn't have his invoice book but that he would write me both invoices and bring them next time. I said OK great.
All his tools were at my house, may28,2015.
I came home unexpectedly during the day, to see [redacted] at my house sayo g he just needed so e too!s for a job he was doing and would be back later to finish. He said that the bathroom should be sanded, primed and pai Ted before I called him to install. That wasn't our original agreement, but I agreed to get my job finished. I sent [redacted] a couple of text saying the rooms were primed and painted and ready for hi. To finish the job. He didn't reply until I left a vmsg and he sent a text saying he broke his leg and wouldnt be able to come finish until healed. I sent a text after 8 weeks asking to be scheduled in, and that I had company coming and needed the bathroom functional before Sept 18,2015. He replied saying g that he promised to do it before that date and then never arranged or responded to my texts, call, or email.
Hence this complaint.
I arranged to have the drywall under the upstairs bathroom sink repaired, as I am doing other drywall work in the main bathroom. On Oct 20,2015 the drywaller called me to show me the upstairs bathroom sink repair, that was not quite repaired. *pic
For this reason, I would request a refund
of $500.00

FYI I asked [redacted] for a fence recommendation, which I followed, and utilized [redacted] I was very happy with [redacted] and his team, as they comp!eted as per our agreement.
I am disappointed and hoped that [redacted] would have comp!eted the job as promised before Sept 18,2015. ( actually way before this date, however I thought I was being understanding)
I feel I was reasonable and more than fair , and my second bathroom was unusable till I got it fixed on the 16th of sept for it to be usuable for my company on the 18th.
Thank you
[redacted]

Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2015/11/12) */
It is unfortunate that we were unable to meet [redacted]'s needs due to a misunderstanding Of the scope of work required to wish [redacted] all the best in the future thank you
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 19, 2015/11/30) */
The total amount for my job was always 1500, never the 3000 dollars [redacted] is quoting. I fully well understood the scope of the bathroom repair, which is why it was 1500. I would never had agreed to paying 3000 for the bathroom repair as its only worth the 1500.00 period.
Its too bad I trusted him, hard lessons learned, always wait for the invoice book, get the quotes in writing, get the changes in writing, take lots of pictures, be there at every step, don't give complete amount until job is finished.

I am rejecting this response because: The items in question were in fact discussed upon the initial inspection. Any concerned person would not cover up a mold issue and also be concerned if there were scratches on the new windows. The windows were not received in that condition. [redacted]
