I am rejecting this response because: It took them four (4) days after the purchase date to contact with the excuse that the tickets were not available. In addition, the replacement seats they offered came with an additional cost of $51.00 per seat for a total of $204.00 extra on top of what I initially paid. I decided to request the refund when they would not provide me with replacement tickets without charging extra money. They probably pull this stunt on a regular basis. ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO WAS PROVIDE ME WITH REPLACEMENT TICKETS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN OK WITH THAT! Instead they tried to sell me more expensive tickets!

Review: First day of opera season, I went to Internet to purchase tickets. Typed Met Opera tickets, a site that said Metropolitan Opera came up, never buying opera tickets from the Met, I assumed this was the correct way to purchase the tickets. I bought 4 tickets in the balcony section which were 160.00 each. They also charged 24.75 service fee per ticket which is where ticket offices make their money plus delivery charges. I found out from a friend that these seats are 80.00 seats. I tried to cancel but the company would not refund. The tickets look like they are from the Metropolitan Opera but have the 160.00 face value on them, yet on the Met site these tickets are 80.00 tickets. How can they get away with entrapping customers like this? Is this a legit way to do business? Can they charge 759.00 for tickets I can buy now 320.00? This type of preditory internet selling must be stopped.Desired Settlement: To cancel the tickets and get my money credited and set up laws against this type of seller. It's bad for business to make your money this way.

Response:

The website that Mr. [redacted] ordered his Metropolitan Opera tickets from is http:// NYC-OPERATlCKETS.com, which does not reference Metropolitan Opera in its name. Further the website does not claim to be the Metropolitan Opera and further states several times throughout (including the beginning of the check—out form prior to putting in any information) that "Prices can often exceed face value" and that "We are a resale marketplace, not a box office or venue.” All sales are final on this website and the order has been processed and tickets sent and received by Mr. [redacted] via Federal Express.

Thank you,

Review: On, August 11th, the first sale date of opera tickets for the 2014 season at the [redacted] Opera, I conducted a search using [redacted] for the keywords "[redacted] Opera Tickets" - the resulting first ad was branded [redacted] Opera in the headline, copy and url of the site. This deceptive ad lead me to believe that I had clicked on the venue's listing. The resulting landing page perpetuated that impression as it was branded in the header and url as [redacted] opera. I believed I was transacting with the venue directly. When I completed the transaction and received a confirmation email, I realized that the deceptive marketing ad and landing page had encouraged me to transact with this third party -- while believing I was directly transacting with the venue. When I checked the tickets on the venue's site - I found the same location of seats for about $60 less a piece - and an abundance of inventory given that it was the first sale date for the upcoming season. I would have never transacted with a third party on the first sale date of a performance knowing that there would be a mark-up and there was plenty of inventory. In fact, I made sure to transact with what I thought was the venue just minutes after the on-sale time on that first sale date in efforts to get the best selection. Third party ticket sources that are more expensive than face value are used when there is little inventory remaining or heavy competition for inventory. This was not the case when I transacted. I called the vendor and explained the deceptive nature of the ad and landing page -- asking for some restitution -- either in the form of a refund/cancellation or an upgrade to seating that reflected the current value of the seats at the venue. I was rudely dismissed.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund or an upgrade to seats that reflect the value of the product I had believed to be purchasing directly from the venue.

I am rejecting this response because: the intent clearly was to masquerade as the official venue on the landing page and in their Google ad messaging.

Review: On Thursday Oct. 30, 2014 at approx. 2:20 PM I purchashed four tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for the Saturday Nov. 08, 2014 1:00 PM show from Online Tickets USA. I received a purchase confirmation and was e-mailed that I would receive the tickets in a seperate e-mail. On Monday Nov. 03, 2014 at approx. 12:10 PM I received a phone call from a [redacted] (A Rep from above) stating that the tickets I purchased were not available. [redacted] stated that he would provide me with the option of different seats for an additional $51.00 per ticket for a total of $204.00. I refused to accept the additional fees and was told that they would just refund my payment.Desired Settlement: The tickets that I purchased!!!!
