Two reps from Ontario Consumers Home Services attended at my home misinforming an elderly individual in my home as to who they precisely were and they precise intentions; leading the person in my home to believe they were reps sent on behalf of a condo corpdoing an inspection Their 'inspection' of my water heater, led to leakage and damage to my unit which was previously functioning in a manner for a consistent time period with absolutely no issues prior to their attendance and manipulation to my unit The person in my home became suspicious of their intentions and when noticing the issue of the leakage indicated they needed to fix it (which they could not) and it became necessary to call the local utility company The best part comes at which time the representative, DESPITE the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, attempted to negotiate with a representative of the utility company to obtain my info, contract and buy it out, despite the lack of my presence in the home This goes beyond any grain of respectable business practice to which I have ever encountered I came home and took over a telephone call with my utility rep to have to make arrangements to now fix a unit which YOUR representative caused damage to, attempted to SWINDLE MY CONTRACT DESPITE THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, AND THEN, attempt to speak to me as though I am a bumpkin from a pumpkin patch, once I got off the phone and demanded he provide me with a business card and get out of my home No thank you for the damage, turned off gas, no hot water until a unit is repaired and now potentially additional costs in my home from a [redacted] representative of your company barging his way into my home when an elderly woman was home with my sick child [redacted] The best advertisement is word of mouth

In the summer of an agent from Ontario Consumer's (OC), took the time to review their contract with me as I had been gathering estimates from several companies to replace my furnaceAfter going back and forth between [redacted] , [redacted] , [redacted] and OC, I chose OC because they offered a free nest thermostat, free months and capped thair annual increase at 3.9% instead of the 7% quoted in the contract We discussed the rent to own option and it was made clear to me that I could pay off the balance of the furnace at any time and be free from the contract which is exactly what I intendedI recognized at that time that I would be paying a little more overall for the furnace but accepted that as the rent to own option provided service for the unit while I was still in the renting process In the contract, under "buy-out", it reads "You may elect to buy the equipment at any time during the Term for its fair market value, plus all remaining Payments under this agreement and applicable taxes." It goes on to explain how to request a "competitive" buy-outThe agent and I revisited this aspect of the contract more than once and I was assured verbally that the "Payments" refered to the cost of the unit After paying OC over $in monthly installments, I called to request the competitive buy-out price and was quoted an additional $6500+ dollarsThe bottom line cost exceeded quotes from other companies selling better units by thousands of dollars My next efforts included consulting the collection agency employed by OC, [redacted] , Revdex.com, Ontario Consumer's Protection Agency, a lawyer, the sales rep who mistakenly mis-represented the terms of the contract and the installation team

A representative from Ontario Consumers Home services came to my door and claimed he represented all the gas appliance providers and wanted to look at my furnace and hot water heater to see if it was okay He said all the pipes should be white and not blackIf they were black it may be unsafe [redacted] I continued to question who he was and he tried to act official like he was some gas inspector He [redacted] really was trying to sell me a contract I finally was able to send him on his way and I warned all my neighbours [redacted]

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ORGANIZATION
They mis-represent in various ways, either as *** or Ontario Government, and will hard-sell, or use various scam tactics like water electrolysis to hard-sell more goods into your home Once they do, you're locked into year contracts

Yesterday I had a person from Ontario Consumers Home Services come to my property claiming that he needed to inspect my home tankless water heaterHe showed me his identification and managed to persuade me to let him inHe looked at the water heater, talking about the colour of the pipeThen he asked to see the water stop valveWhen I showed him this he said that Direct Energy should have installed a water softener when they installed the tankless water heater and that was why he was here, to rectify the mistakeI felt intimidated by him throughout and he persuaded me to sign a contract to put a water softener into my houseWhen he left I felt uncomfortable with the way I had been treated and realised that he had actually sold me a rental agreementI cancelled the agreement as soon as I realised this

I advise every customer very strongly to avoid this companyTheir salespersons come door to door and information they provide are very misleadingThey say and repeat that your water heater tank is rental but IT IS NOTYOU WILL HAVE TO PAY VERY MONTH UNTIL THE END OF CONTRACTBy then we have actually charged you 2-times more than buying one on your ownIf for whatever reason you don't want to continue they make you pay for the remaining***

Salesperson shows up at door starting telling me how inefficient and not up to code my furnace was. bullies his way into house and pushes contract to replace the good furnace I have to get a new one installed next morning (Sunday). Makes me talk to call center and warns me not to interupt the person in his company or it won't happen at all. while on the phone I asked 3 times to defer the installation for 1 week to think about the deal and he wouldn't answer me. he told me I had 10 days cooling off period. but they were pushing to have the furnace replaced next day, so then what if I changed my mind after the installation I would have no recourse or ability to cancel the order. Later that day O C H services called to okay the install for the next day and I asked to put it off for a week. The next morning (Sunday)I called them and cancelled the order completely. I was asked why and I said it was too expensive and they told me I couldn't possibly get a better deal. It was $ 79.99 a month for only 120 months. Later that morning the sales person called me several times and even after I told him I cancelled the order he started getting even pushier and very ignorant and I ended up having to hang up on him. It goes on to explain how to request a "competitive" buy-out. The agent and I revisited this aspect of the contract more than once and I was assured verbally that the "Payments" refered to the cost of the unit.
After paying OC over $1600 in monthly installments, I called to request the competitive buy-out price and was quoted an additional $6500+ dollars. The bottom line cost exceeded quotes from other companies selling better units by thousands of dollars.

Company put a lean on my home and did not inform me of the lean. Company promised 24 hour service and it is not the case. The company rarely holds appointments for repairs always pushing them off to the next day. Unfortunately now locked in for 10 years and there is nothing I can do.... [redacted]
