Ontario Energy Group representative came to our home November 4th at 5pmWe (my mother and father in-law) signed a contract to install new furnace on promise that our gas bill would be credited $+ $a month and hydro would be credited $We would pay an $leasing / rental fee + consumptionWe'd get hour service turn around and parts and labour where coveredWe'd be saving about $out of pocket per month for the duration of the contract which was the year lifetime of the furnaceInstallation was to be the next day, November 5th
November 5th the installation people said they tried coming by times but we were homeNovember 6th the installation guys called and said they couldn't find my house (there are blocks of my streetblocks!) so obviously they never came by the day before and that was the first misrepresentation
November 6th an hour install turned into Once completed with an ugly invasive exhaust protruding into my driveway at knee height they had me turn the furnace on and offAs far as they were concerned it workedThat night I turned on the furnace and the smoke and Coalarms went off and the house filled up with acrid fumesI went to check, no fire and the fumes, I considered were from the PVC glue that was used to bond the exhaust pipes togetherI almost pulled the batteries out and let the furnace run...I didn't
The next day, November 7th in the morning I turned the furnace onThe smoke and Codetector went off and the house filled up with acrid fumes that made us feel dizzyI turned off the furnace, opened the windows and called the representative who handed us the contactHe said he would call head of installation, which he did and they sent a service tech from ***
The *** tech arrived at 4pm commented on the install not being by the book and took readingsWhen he measured the CO readings at the exhaust port and noticed that when the low heat went to high heat the CO readings went above 200ppm and when it went from low heat to high heat it read over 2200ppmHe said the acceptable norm was anything below He said that in all his years he had never seen a reading that highI told him about my plan the night before to disable the alarmsHe said we'd have diedHe red flagged the furnace at 5:10pm and locked it so it couldn't be usedI immediately called the representative who said he'd call the service lineI also called the Ontario Energy Group service line and left them a messageI called again minutes later and left another messageI called the representative and he apologized and offered me a $rebateI didn't hear anything from OEG that dayMy six year old son was coughing and presented the initial signs of a feverWe considered going to a hotelInstead we slept in the living room with the electric fireplace and a space heater
November 8th, and I called the OEG a number of times and left messagesNo responses nor returned messagesI am currently seeking a solution of having the new furnace removed and my old one reinstalled by a technician of my choosing
November 8th at about 6pm I was contacted by my representative and the head of installations (Omar)They apologized for not respecting the hour turnaround time and indicated that Omar was in a car accidentOmar said he would get a quick resolution by sending someone over the next day to fix the issue
I mentioned that due to the lack of initial testing, deadly CO levels (2250ppm) and to day wait period we would be cancellingWe asked, once again, that they remove their furnace, remove the venting and repaid the damage done to the side of the house from the new vent), reinstall our original furnace and verify that it passes every testThere was no commitment from Omar at that time
November 8th at about 8:30pm, the representative called back and said he was instructed to offer us another $rebateWe said that we would not entertain the offer but I would speak to my wife about itI stated that we would continue with the removal of their furnace and reinstallation of ours unless otherwise indicated by usI was given an extension to call on Monday the 9th of November#and that would start the removal and reinstallation process
November 9th 9:am and I called the 800-510-number and dialed #There is no such extensionI will start recording my calls with the OEG people
November 9th at 5pmOntario Energy Group is declining to hire a third party to reinstall the furnace and basically is washing it's hands of the whole matterWe will be pursuing this in a court of law

We had our furnace and air put in last year, we received our rebate from the government but after several phone calls and an e-mail it was almost a year for our other rebate, we had a problem with our furnace not long after the cold weather had started I phoned and left a message, my boyfriend found it was a fuse on the furnace that had blown I called back to say we fixed it and the lady said that we never left a message and I told her I did it was my word against hers as she says she gets all the messages, when the warm weather came our air would not turn on and again I called left a message and with no return call. I wish I had never been involved with this company, do not get suckered in go with a reliable company in your area wish I had called reliance probably a better deal.
