Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Please also see attached documents the consumer sent regarding a [redacted] Inspection. In response to Chris D letter written on March 23rd; the roof job was installed on November 15thI have a saved voice message from his sectary on Wednesday, November 12th stating that they could not come out because of the weather and they would call before they came outNo worries the voice message will be enough to prove when the job was actually performed. As for the remedies, and I quote, “small number of issues” that Chris D had offered to perform was not enough then and is certainly not enough now Anyone with any knowledge of roofing could tell that this roof job was poorly installedI choose to refrain from any further contact with Chris D and Todd J after they sent a letter on December 1st with a small bucket list of band aide repairs from their inspectionTheir suggestions of patch work and H-clip credit was an attempt to cover up the obvious(Please see attached [redacted] inspection report)When the roof started leaking I needed to act quickly and we had to summit a claim into our home owners insurance to get the roof tarp and the attic inspected by a reputable company who dealt with mold and damage cleanupThis was not an option as water was leaking throughout the houseAt no time was a roofing company called to repair the current roof that Ontario Exterior installed, especially during the winter months. On 3/13/after being advised by our insurance company we paid $for a Certified home Inspector who is familiar with the products and installation procedures in our areaI think you’ll find that not only was this roof done poorly but NY standard building codes were brokenYou can see by the inspector’s letter that these findings were visible without removal of materialsIf he could see this by one inspection why didn’t Chris D , Todd J or [redacted] a [redacted] represented see this on 11/24/during their inspection? Here is what I propose We prefer not to do any further business with Ontario ExteriorsWe are requesting that a 100% full cancelation of the total bill be issuedI am also requesting that Ontario Exteriors pay for all the attic clean up charges and any additional charges that may arise this spring for any replacement on damaged rafters, including materials and extra labor needed beyond the standard new roof price that they have caused.Per the inspector’s recommendations and the fact that the roof is leaking throughout the house, a newly installed roof is not negotiableOntario Exteriors has proven to be incompetent and their reputation of meeting the Revdex.com standard as an A- company needs to be reconsidered.I will not dictate the entire report but as you can see Ontario Exteriors contactors were careless not only on the quality of their work but lacked the knowledge of NY standard building codesAs you can see by the attached [redacted] invoice they have listed pieces of ½ plywood; the [redacted] inspection report shows 5/16” was applied to the roofI truly believe this would have never happen if I was present at the jobThe contract clearly states supervision in the original contract.I believe Chris D needs to be accountable for the poorly installed roof, the damages it has caused to my family home and take responsibility for the contractors that showed up unannounced to [redacted] that day when no one was homeWe were the victims and things need to be made right! I am confident that if this has to go to court, that the [redacted] inspection report is enough to prove that this roof needs to completely redone as recommended by the licensed inspectorSincerely,

At this time Ontario Exteriors Incis not interested in arbitrationWe owe [redacted] some small repairs and it ends thereThis whole situation has gone around and around enoughWe are going to file a lawsuit against [redacted] shortly for lack of any paymentPlease close this claim as soon as you have the opportunityThank you for your help Regards, Christopher D

Please see attached for additional documents. The [redacted] complaint is a very challenging situation. OEI executed a contract with him on 9/16/14 and we have included a copy of the contract with this response. The soffit and fascia metal portion of the project was difficult to begin with and we...

should have abandoned the balance of our contract. [redacted] micromanaged almost every minute my men were installing the vented soffit and fascia system and made them reinstall some area three times due to his opinion of how a finished product was to look. Then the roof portion of our contract was to commence on Wednesday November 5th and we had the material delivered then. We got inclement weather Wednesday the 5th til Friday the 7th communicating with [redacted] that if the next day was decent weather we would start then. Therefore, we started and finished his roof on Saturday November 8th. [redacted] took it upon himself to take the metal drip edge and aluminum flashing coil and place it in his "tarp hut" due to the uncertainty of theft in his neighborhood. Due to this action we had to go to our wholesaler on Saturday to replace these materials since [redacted] did not communicate the move. Here is where things went wrong because OEI ordered plywood "H" clips to install with the replacement of the plywood decking. These "H" clips were delivered but not on site along with the metal drip edge and coil flashing when we arrived to perform the work that Saturday morning. Therefore, the "H" clips were not on my foreman's radar as part of the roof system and were not installed. This action was not intentional and I have included my wholesaler's invoice with the materials that were missing when we arrived that Saturday. OEI was obligated by our contract to install "H" clips but as noted, were unable to since they were not onsite with our material pile. Again, our actions were not intentional. As for the ring shank nails my foreman utilized smooth shank nails that DO fulfill building code. That is what he had on the truck and Todd J, my project manager did not arrive until late morning with the ring shank framing nails and the plywood portion of the project was complete. As for the missed rafter nailing, unsupervised job, poor craftsmanship and loose plywood I have my opinions. Missed rafter nailing occurs today on almost every new construction project we work on by framing contractors. [redacted] himself stated his rafters are spaced unevenly so how would we take measurements and hit every rafter perfectly center. Because of the missed rafter nailing, [redacted] claims there is high levels of "loose" plywood. I personally got into his crawl space and attempted to pry up plywood with my back on the sub flooring and push up with my legs. I was unable to find ANY loose plywood and offered to re-nail if any was indeed found. As far as poor workmanship, a few low roofing nails exist but can easily be removed, shingles replaced and problem remedied. Lastly, my foreman Carlos and Todd J supervised the roofing portion of the contract from start to finish. This comment is entirely untrue and further questions the integrity of [redacted] and his opinion of our roofing project.Following the completion of the shingle project, OEI voluntarily asked [redacted] our regional [redacted] Shingle Corp. representative to inspect the Hook residence. He inspected the attic crawl space, the substrate and finally the actual roof surface areas. He found the entire shingle system to fulfill industry standards and once [redacted] pays us the [redacted] manufacturer's warranty would be in full effect (see attached email from [redacted]). He acknowledged limited number of exposed nail heads and one poorly cut shingle around a vent. He agreed that these repairs were simple and we already offered to [redacted] that we would perform them.As you can see there is entire untold side to [redacted]'s accusations and my responses could go on and on. I have, as the owner of Ontario Exteriors, in the best interest of my customers been to his house on two occasions and Todd J several more visits than that. We have tried to mitigate this complaint but [redacted] will accept nothing other than the unreasonable replacement of his entire roof, replace the new plywood decking and now partial rafters. We are still willing to perform a few minor roof repairs as stated before but an entire roof replacement is unnecessary. Our [redacted] manufacturing rep would concur along with anyone else that inspects the roof. Our personal corporate attorney has determined that [redacted] received everything in value per the contract except the "H" clips and ring shank framing nails. We offered as a professional courtesy a material value credit as well as an added amount to close out this situation. That offer is now off the table and we will pursue collections for the project by other avenues. We are tired of be sworn at, called names and treated in an unacceptable manner by [redacted] whom we have never treated or spoken to unprofessionally.I do hope our response proves helpful in The Revdex.com getting this complaint removed from our records.Regards,Christopher D From*Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2015 8:21 AMTo: Chris DSubject: * Chris, pertaining to this project, the [redacted] Weather Stopper System Plus warranty is not in effect untilYou have been paid in full and have registered the warranty on-line as per the normal process. When you are paid in full, please log in and register this warranty. Please review the System Plus warranty under Effectiveness for complete details**

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Please also see attached documents the consumer sent regarding a [redacted] Inspection. In response to Chris D  letter written on March 23rd; the roof job was installed on November 15th. I have a saved voice message from his sectary on Wednesday, November 12th stating that they could not come out because of the weather and they would call before they came out. No worries the voice message will be enough to prove when the job was actually performed. As for the remedies, and I quote, “small number of issues” that Chris D  had offered to perform was not enough then and is certainly not enough now.  Anyone with any knowledge of roofing could tell that this roof job was poorly installed. I choose to refrain from any further contact with Chris D  and Todd J  after they sent a letter on December 1st with a small bucket list of band aide repairs from their inspection. Their suggestions of patch work and H-clip credit was an attempt to cover up the obvious. (Please see attached [redacted] inspection report)When the roof started leaking I needed to act quickly and we had to summit a claim into our home owners insurance to get the roof tarp and the attic inspected by a reputable company who dealt with mold and damage cleanup. This was not an option as water was leaking throughout the house. At no time was a roofing company called to repair the current roof that Ontario Exterior installed, especially during the winter months. On 3/13/2015 after being advised by our insurance company we paid $150.00 for a  Certified home Inspector who is familiar with the products and installation procedures in our area. I think you’ll find that not only was this roof done poorly but NY standard building codes were broken. You can see by the inspector’s letter that these findings were visible without removal of materials. If he could see this by one inspection why didn’t Chris D , Todd J  or [redacted] a [redacted] represented see this on 11/24/2014 during their inspection? Here is what I propose…We prefer not to do any further business with Ontario Exteriors. We are requesting that a 100% full cancelation of the total bill be issued. I am also requesting that Ontario Exteriors pay for all the attic clean up charges and any additional charges that may arise this spring for any replacement on damaged rafters, including materials and extra labor needed beyond the standard new roof price that they have caused.Per the inspector’s recommendations and the fact that the roof is leaking throughout the house, a newly installed roof is not negotiable. Ontario Exteriors has proven to be incompetent and their reputation of meeting the Revdex.com standard as an A- company needs to be reconsidered.I will not dictate the entire report but as you can see Ontario Exteriors contactors were careless not only on the quality of their work but lacked the knowledge of NY standard building codes. As you can see by the attached [redacted] invoice they have listed 48 pieces of ½ plywood; the [redacted] inspection report shows 5/16” was applied to the roof. I truly believe this would have never happen if I was present at the job. The contract clearly states supervision in the original contract.I believe Chris D needs to be accountable for the poorly installed roof, the damages it has caused to my family home and take responsibility for the contractors that showed up unannounced to [redacted] that day when no one was home. We were the victims and things need to be made right!
