Review: Someone set up an account impersonating my son using the name [redacted] and sending inappropriate message to female minors that are friends to my son. I have emailed you on June *, 2015. This is a direct violation of your terms and agreement, section 13.Desired Settlement: I would really like to know who this person is but at least is to close this account

Review: My** year daughter has an oovoo account. Someone else has stolen her profile picture and changed her id name ever so slightly [redacted] and is impersonating her. This person is asking another girl to lift her shirt up and show her breast through the webcam. She has contacted several other girls claiming to be my daughter. I contacted the police and they told me that I should contact oovoo and tell them and they should remove this other account. oovoo got back to me and said its up to the police to provide them with a subpoena and they won't take it down! I find this to be appalling as you only need to be 13 to join this site and they are not protecting their members which are children. Facebook would remove the person immediately. I need help with this matter as they don't find this to be an urgent or offensive matter. My daughters name is [redacted] and her account is [redacted]. The ticket number for the complaint with them is [redacted]Desired Settlement: Remove False account [redacted] and[redacted] for impersonating a minor and sexual harrasement

Response:

We are in receipt of your complaint and we believe the issue is already resolved but will defer to [redacted]. ooVoo considers all issues of impersonation, harassment or bullying very serious and as a social media company ooVoo is very aggressive about a no-tolerance policy regarding this type of behavior.

We are sorry to hear [redacted] feels we did not handle the complaint in a timely manner. ooVoo immediately closes all accounts where an impersonation claim is made, and is verified to the best of our ability. This account was also closed immediately on July [redacted] but due to a human error some data was still visible, briefly. We regret the error and corrected it quickly.

As noted, on the account in question [redacted], the support person made an error in removing the account completely, and it ultimately was closed on July [redacted]. We do not require a subpoena to close an account. I believe [redacted] may have been confused by our response and we will review the wording. The account was closed but we suggested she contact the police if she wants to prosecute the person that is impersonating her daughter.

She references ticket # [redacted]

On July [redacted] wrote to us:

Someone has stolen my info and pics and created an account under [redacted]. They are saying sexual things and sending friend request to my friends

On July [redacted] ooVoo responded:

Hello [redacted]

Thanks for writing to us with this information. We closed the account.

[redacted]If you feel threatened in any way please contact your local law enforcement and/or school principal[redacted]

In many states it is illegal to impersonate someone on the internet for harassment or malicious purposes and is punishable by law. If you would like to prosecute and report this incident to the police they will contact us with a subpoena and we will provide all the information about the account. We cannot release data to you about other ooVoo users.

[redacted], ooVoo users are required to be 13. Are you 13?

On the evening of July [redacted] wrote back to us to note she could still see the account and was frustrated. We noted an omission on our side, corrected it and the account was closed. We regret any angst caused to[redacted] while we corrected our error.

Please let me know if there is a continuing issue with the account.

Review: My daughter is ** years old. She signed up unbeknownst to me for an account with Oovoo. I began receiving emails about the set up and I also started to receive emails for a friend request from one of her ** year old friends that lives in [redacted] - that used to live near us and attend school with my child.

This service is for video chat and more. My daughter is not old enough to obtain an account and she should not have one. I tried to retrieve her password to go in and cancel the account. There is no way to cancel the account. There is also no way to call Oovoo.

The friend that is underage (**) who has an account has asked for a friend request from the account my daughter set up. This has triggered an amazing amount of spam emails to my email address that my daughter used to set up her account which I cannot cancel.

This makes 9 friend request emails to my home email address within the last few hours, specifically from [redacted] to [redacted]. Yesterday, there were 47 emails sent to me. That's right, FORTY SEVEN! Ohhhh my!

I am trying to make contact - to have this account deleted. This is seemingly impossible. Go check out their customer contact page. by the way, good luck if you ever have an u=issue with a real account. I will send my condolences to you in advance.

The first email I sent (to a general nowhere) after looking through the silly amount of troubleshooting ideas that I *might* be having was returned to me saying that I must be trying to figure out how to add a friend. Nope! Not close, not warm, not nothing. Sad face.

First, an ** year old cannot legally have an account. So, there's that.

Next, I should not be spammed with 51 emails within he last 24 hours. That's just ridiculous and seriously worse than my kid trying to ask me to buy her that new Eos or something. Ugh.

I should 100% be able to cancel an account I did not set up. This is quite ridiculous and menacing.Desired Settlement: And an apology. This account must be deleted. It was started by an[redacted] year old girl. The 51 emails in the last 2 days are harassing me. Make them stop and cancel the account,.

Review: I have received unsolicited text from this company. I sent a text asking the messages be stopped, but they continue. When I asked the sender to stop before I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com, the next text I received simply read "scary". The messages are coming from a number listed as ###-###-####. The messages include an invitation to visit a web site [redacted]

I would like the messages to stop.
