This is a response in relation to a complaint referenced in claim number [redacted].  This customer has complained that we will not terminate service over the phone.  It is the policy for Opelika Utilities to verify the customers identity and submit some formal request for any changes to their account.  We feel this is for our customers protection as these are in fact credit accounts and we must keep proper records in relation to these requests.  We regret that this customer is unhappy with the procedures we have set forth in order to protect a customer’s account.
