Open Road Mazda of East Brunswick Reviews (5)

Upon researching this complaint we've learned that the vehicle was purchased at Mazda East Brunswick and serviced twice at our BMW Edison store. The first was for an oil change and the second for a rattle. We are unaware of any issues with the car let alone the headlights. Please feel free to... contact our service department for assistance or notifying the individual that has been addressing the headlight situation.Sincerely, [redacted]

Review: On September 2, 2013, I signed the financial papers to finalize the purchase of my 2014 Mazda CX-5. I am currently a Florida resident. On the purchase of the vehicle, I prepaid $552.00 for the registration fee to have it registered in the state of Florida. From what I understand, Open Road Mazda outsources the work to register vehicles from out of state buyers. However, everyone that I have spoken to does not know or will give me the name of the company who completes the outsourced work. I have contacted the Motor Vehicle clerk and several managers and they keep pushing me away saying they will find out the information and will get back to me, but they never do. On September 21st, I called my salesman at 10:50 AM to inquire information about the registration fees. This was on the day my temporary tag expired. I received a receipt on my Florida registration that the cost was $310.xx. Mark told me that he will call me back in 20 minutes to discuss this but has not returned my call since. I called on Monday and spoke to a manager about the status of my refund for the registration fee and he informed me that the motor vehicle clerk was working on it and I would hear back on Wednesday, or Friday (September 28) at the latest. On October 4th, I placed yet another phone call at 5:50PM, seeking more information. I spoke to the motor vehicle clerk and when I asked about the status of my refund, she informed me that the clerk is closed and she cannot access my information. At this point, I was frustrated from the lack of communication and lack of effort on the business’s end. I asked to speak to the GM and was informed that he was not there. I did receive his name and the next morning at 10:57, I placed yet again, another phone call. I spoke to the GM about my situation and the extreme lack of communication on his business’s end. He gathered my information and informed me that he will find out and call me back on Monday morning. He has not returned my call.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome of this complaint would be to receive the difference from the estimated price ($552.00) I paid for the registration costs and the actual price ($310.xx) minus the cost the outsourced company charges. I would also like the name, phone number and a receipt from the outsourced company with the itemized charges.

Response:

Mr [redacted] will receive his refund for Motor Vehicle fees within 10 business days of October 8, 2013. There is no excuse for the poor communication but I can assure you the refund is being processed. An estimated amount is charged for MV fees during the contract signing. It would be unlawful of Open Road not to return the unused portion. The process must go through our accounting department and be reconciled. Mr [redacted] spoke to [redacted] at the dealership on Oct 8 and was informed that the check would be processed.

Kind regards,

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

Failure to explain the charges. It appears that I paid twice for registration and there is a major difference in sales tax paid. I would like clarification of each itemized charge/expense.

Regards,

Business

Response:

We are happy to further explain the charges. I ask that Mr [redacted] speak directly to [redacted] in our Finance Department to explain all charges. The contract itemizes all fees and taxes and there are no hidden charges. Mr [redacted] can be reached at ###-###-####.

Kind regards.

[redacted] was a great salesman, he did a great job when we brought our car.
