High APR
They say to help the community but in reality they robbing people. I used to get loans from them, until I learned how loans work. My first loan APR was 40% and my family each got a loan with them. I Being telling them to pay it off and never look back, they take advantage of people ignorance.

They cheat you out of your money! They make it really hard for them to actually help you and all they say is well our "policy" doesn't let us do this or thatThey give you all the wrong information possibleEven if you are a good customer and ALWAYS make your payment on time and NEVER miss one they make no effort to help youWorst loan store ever

+1

Make sure that you are located close to one of their servicing locations because you can't fulfill the whole application without visiting one of their locations which means that if you are not close to one you might end up having to drive close to an hour without a guarantee that you will be approved

I applied by phone with Oportun They asked the standard questions you expect for a loan but they also asked things like "How many people in your household do you support?" "How much is your credit line and how much available credit do you have?" " Were your born in the US?" I felt uneasy giving this info but I needed the money I was on the phone answering these question for at least minutes Although I pressed the English option, the person seemed to struggle to understand me and kept asking me to repeat things I was told that I met "pre-approval and to bring documents to the store, which I did At the store, I was told that I would be notified by the end of the day A day passed and I hadn't heard anything I had provided four references and none of them were ever called I received an auto dialed call on the morning of day three which advised that my application was still being reviewed On the night of day four, I decided that it was a scam and would call in the morning to withdraw my application I was transferred multiple times until I finally ended up on the phone with another gentleman that barely spoke English who explained that I didn't need to withdraw my application because it had been denied I do not believe that- my credit score is I said okay fine, please delete me from your system then I find it suspicious that I was never notified by phone or mail that my application was denied It was only when I called in to withdraw my application that I was told it was denied Stay away from them; they are unprofessional and very secretive about the progress of your application

They do not appear to have a good policy for taking/making paymentsI received a letter stating I was behind on payments and that my next payment would be double (for amount past due) even tho I have kept up with all paymentsand when you go in to pay, I am told that thier "policy" only allows them to take a payment for a specific amountThey also did not allow me to pay over the minimum amount on multiple occasions due to their "policy" its seems like their policy is to pray on individuals and harass themThey will call you when you are at work to ask to make a payment when it inst even due yetI have told them to not call me between certain hours and it still continues and is frankly a nuisance

I've had absolutely nothing but problems with them since week 1, not only did they damage my credit on something that was their fault ( I got a late payment added even though they were supposed to be taking the money out of my bank account, instead they took it out and returned it then decided to wait another days to finalize the payment.) I found out about this obviously a little too late once they started with placing calls to my references and the lovely point drop on my credit scoreNever ever do business with them avoid them like the plagueI'm almost done with the payment on this an guess what still getting harassed
