Optima Batteries Reviews (32)

Hi ***,As Mr [redacted] and our customer service department both indicated, the consumer warranty coverage for OPTIMA BLUETOP batteries is two years from the original date of purchase and is not transferableSince Mr [redacted] purchased his batteries in December of and had issues with them in February of 2017, they fall outside our window of warranty coverage and we are under no obligation to offer him any warranty assistanceMany of the batteries that are returned to us under warranty are really just deeply-discharged and work fine, when properly-rechargedWhen batteries fail from manufacturing defects, they typically do so well within the first year of use, if not the first few weeksBeyond that, battery performance and lifespan is largely tied to how a battery is used and maintainedMarine applications are particularly hard on batteries, as they often sit unused and un-maintained for long periods of time. While we appreciate Mr***'s business and would like to retain him as a customer, we cannot set precedents where we extend warranty coverage beyond our two-year termIn the interest of good customer relations, we would like to offer Mr [redacted] an OPTIMA Digital battery maintainer, which does a great job of charging and maintaining OPTIMA batteries and all other 12-volt, lead-acid batteriesThe Digital may be able to recover his batteries and even if it is unable to do so, it will be able to properly-maintain future batteries purchases he makes, whether they are from OPTIMA or another brandPlease let me know if this is an acceptable resolutionI appreciate your assistance in this matter[redacted] eCare Manager, OPTIMA Batteries

Based on your description of the problem, your battery was purchased from Auto Zone on January 3rd, On 1/30/you returned to Auto Zone with your battery and original receiptBased on the OPTIMA Warranty found on OptimaBatteries.com ( [redacted] ), page 1, paragraph 1, "The warranty period for a battery is calculated from the original battery purchase date." Which in this case began on Jan, 3rd, 2012, and ended on Jan 3rd, The battery was returned to the Auto Zone retailer for battery testing and warranty on Jan 30th, 2015, which is outside of your warranty period Additionally, Since this optima battery was purchased from a retail location the warranty must be handled through the retailer See page 1, paragraph 1, "If a replacement is necessary due to a defect in materials and/or workmanship, then upon return to an authorized OPTIMA distributor/dealer for retail store purchasesThe battery will be replaced free of charge." Further detail is described on page paragraph 1, "OPTIMA batteries must be returned with the original receipt to the location where the battery was originally purchased for any warranty service." Since the battery was purchased at Auto Zone, then Auto Zone has the authority to issue a warranty.Due to the time frame given in this case the battery is outside it's warranty period and therefore not required by Auto Zone to issue a warranty Also, because of the terms and conditions of the warranty policy all warranties are required to be handled by the original retail point of purchase, again Auto Zone Optimabatteries.com is under no obligation or requirement to handle warranty for purchases made through retailers as stated in the OPTIMA warranty policy

The customer purchased a battery through Amazon for his box truckOriginally he said the battery wasn’t maintaining a charge and he kept having to have it chargedHe then said the battery was not charging, but didn’t know the voltage of the batteryHe had it charged by AutoZone, he doesn’t know if the voltage went up during charging or how long they charged the batteryHe doesn’t use the truck every day, but he does start the vehicle and lets it idle for minutes for charging purposes The call center went over alternator charging capabilities and that letting it idle for short periods isn’t recommended for chargingHe wanted to know where he could take the battery for charging and a conditioning charge and said that no local retailers have chargers capable of conditioning or desulfationThe call center explained that most local retailers who sell Optima batteries should have charging equipment capable of charging an OptimaHe called back and he was put through to the call center manager’s voice mail and left one message because the manager was on another call and then he called back and requested a supervisor and was transferred to the manager again, but the manager was still on another call and he didn’t leave another message The call center agents have been re-trained on where they can refer customers to in order to find local Optima retailers(located on home page of OptimaBatteries website)Further, if the customer is not at a computer, the agents have been instructed to assist callers in finding retailers in their area

I have not heard anything from optima batteriesI am very disappointedAlso I want to clarify that because of optima batteries I spent $on battery chargers that I did not needTheir website claims that you need a special charger to recover the batteriesFirst I bought a new charger for my boatThen I bought one of their chargers to try to recover the batteryTurns out the battery was bad so it would not recoverAll of this took a lot of timeI thought the battery could be recovered because of all the information on optima batteries websites and from talking to Optims customer serviceBut it was a bad batteryBecause of the delay I have to pay for return shipping for a heavy battery to the original seller which I should not have to doAlso the original seller, never enough auto, charged me $earlier to return a crack batterySo I'm trying not to do business with themMy request

There is some confusion as to which battery is at the center of this issueThe complaint lists both a [redacted] and a ***We're interested in providing the customer with a gift card in the amount of $231, if he can provide proof of purchase and clarity on the battery sizeWe would also appreciate any additional information he may be able to provide, including photos of the battery damaged in shipping and the packaging it was shipped in, if that's available, so we can pursue this issue further with the retailers involved

The gift card company would not allow us to purchase a gift card for Mr*** and send it to an address different than the billing address used to pay for the gift cardAs such, the gift card first had to be sent to OPTIMA first, before being forwarded to Mr***We did receive the card and forward it to Mr***, so he should receive it within the next week

We have reached out to Amazon to clarify the warranty period Per your message the battery has tested bad and is within the three year warranty period which is based upon the date of purchase This issue has been escalated to Amazon Automotive Assist team Amazon has recognized
that this battery does require warranty A new battery has been sent to you Due to the information provided to us from Amazon you have been shipped a new battery via UPS, it was delivered on April 18th, 2016, and signed for by *** This will meet the requirement you listed in your request

Satisfaction is yes and no. I sent something to Revdex.com closing the issue. But to confirm the business sent the payment and it is resolved. It should not have taken months and Revdex.com procedure to resolve it however.*** ***

The blemish mark that can be seen in the picture sent by the customer(attached) show a blackish substance that is a normal bi-product of the manufacturing process. While it may be cosmetically unappealing, the manufacturer confirms that it will not impact the performance of the battery in...

anyway. Every Optima Battery is pressure tested during manufacturing to ensure it is leak-free. The customer should proceed to use the battery as they wish.

The customer purchased a battery through Amazon for his box truck. Originally he said the battery wasn’t maintaining a charge and he kept having to have it charged. He then said the battery was not charging, but didn’t know the voltage of the battery. He had it charged by AutoZone, he doesn’t know...

if the voltage went up during charging or how long they charged the battery. He doesn’t use the truck every day, but he does start the vehicle and lets it idle for 10 minutes for charging purposes.  The call center went over alternator charging capabilities and that letting it idle for short periods isn’t recommended for charging. He wanted to know where he could take the battery for charging and a conditioning charge and said that no local retailers have chargers capable of conditioning or desulfation. The call center explained that most local retailers who sell Optima batteries should have charging equipment capable of charging an Optima. He called back and he was put through to the call center manager’s voice mail and left one message because the manager was on another call and then he called back and requested a supervisor and was transferred to the manager again, but the manager was still on another call and he didn’t leave another message.   The call center agents have been re-trained on where they can refer customers to in order to find local Optima retailers(located on home page of OptimaBatteries website). Further, if the customer is not at a computer, the agents have been instructed to assist callers in finding retailers in their area.

There is some confusion as to which battery is at the center of this issue. The complaint lists both a [redacted] and a [redacted]. I have not heard anything from optima batteries. I am very disappointed. Also I want to clarify that because of optima batteries I spent $240 on battery chargers that I did not need. boat. Then I bought one of their chargers to try to recover the battery. Turns out the battery was bad so it would not recover. All of this took a lot of time. I thought the battery could be recovered because of all the information on optima batteries websites and from talking to Optims customer service. But it was a bad battery. Because of the delay I have to pay for return shipping for a heavy battery to the original seller which I should not have to do. Also the original seller, never enough auto, charged me $70 earlier to return a crack battery. So I'm trying not to do business with them. My request.

The customer contacted our call center in November to request warranty for their Optima battery sold by Amazon Order# 111-2392649-7409008. The battery was purchased from Amazon.com and per agreement, all warranty dealings are to be handled by Amazon.com. Optima reached out to Amazon.com and received...

the following message:  "I have checked the customers account and the billing and shipping address on the order are no longer active. With that being said we are unable to replace the part without the customer verifying security information. I have sent an email to the customer and advised to have them call in for the replacement to be created. Best Regards, [redacted]"

Hi [redacted],As Mr. [redacted] and our customer service department both indicated, the consumer warranty coverage for OPTIMA BLUETOP batteries is two years from the original date of purchase and is not transferable. of 2017, they fall outside our window of warranty coverage and we are under no obligation to offer him any warranty assistance. Many of the batteries that are returned to us under warranty are really just deeply-discharged and work fine, when properly-recharged. When batteries fail from manufacturing defects, they typically do so well within the first year of use, if not the first few weeks. Beyond that, battery performance and lifespan is largely tied to how a battery is used and maintained. Marine applications are particularly hard on batteries, as they often sit unused and un-maintained for long periods of time. While we appreciate Mr. [redacted]'s business and would like to retain him as a customer, we cannot set precedents where we extend warranty coverage beyond our two-year term. In the interest of good customer relations, we would like to offer Mr. [redacted] an OPTIMA Digital 400 battery maintainer, which does a great job of charging and maintaining OPTIMA batteries and all other 12-volt, lead-acid batteries. The Digital 400 may be able to recover his batteries and even if it is unable to do so, it will be able to properly-maintain future batteries purchases he makes, whether they are from OPTIMA or another brand. Please let me know if this is an acceptable resolution. I appreciate your assistance in this matter.[redacted]eCare Manager, OPTIMA Batteries
