Optum Health Center Reviews (%countItem)

I am a colorectal cancer survivor and have had severe digestive issues and chronic diarrhea since my cancer diagnosis in 2014. I was at my last hope for finding answers and help for my body. A friend told me about Genova Diagnostic testing. I googled about the testing which led me to Optum Health Center and Dr. *** I scheduled my initial consultation in September 2019 and went through the series of test. It was discovered through the testing that I did have imbalances in my body. I was hopeful and felt I could follow the program especially with the lifestyle changes of no gluten, dairy, soy, caffeine, sugar, etc. I paid over $6000 for this program plus supplements. The first step was to work on the adrenal wellness through hormone therapy. I purchased the 'good? program which was about 5 different supplements to take at various times in the day. I started taking the supplements and noticed different reactions like headaches, fatigue, diarrhea, etc. I called and spoke to Dr. *** and he commented that he never had anyone that had side effect reactions to the supplements. I tried for another day but the reactions continued which made me feel worse. I stopped taking the supplements and had another visit which at that time Dr. Matiscik recommended to only take 1 drop of the supplements and then gradually increase. I tried that as well but again still had negative reactions. I decided to take a break from this program through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays so my body could rest and reset. I noticed when I got off the supplements and due to some changes in my diet I felt better. I messaged Dr. *** office and explained that I had all intentions to continue the program; however, due to my system being compromised from cancer and the treatments, I could not continue with the supplements as it was too *** my body. I asked if they would refund my money as I was not able to really start the program due to all the complications with the supplements. I was directed to their refund policy that all payments made up front for wellness programs, services and any other are non-refundable. I understand a non-refundable clause; however, Dr. *** has never worked with any other patients that had cancer and not cookie cutter. I would have hoped this office would have been more sympathetic. Sadly, they were not. If cancer has compromised your body, think twice before using this medical office.

We are terribly sorry this client feels this way.

Unfortunately we do have a financial policy that states there are no refunds.

We also have a client services agreement stating there are no guarantees.

This client did have a 12 month program set up for her. We did tell her based on her lab results that it would take that long for her/us to correct the problems she was experiencing.

When she presented with her concerns, we did offer the first of several recommendations that she could benefit from. When the first recommendation did not resolve her concerns she decided she did not want to continue.

We offered to work hard for her and continue to work to a resolution for her complaints. Only allowing approximately 4 weeks to resolve her issues compared to the agreed upon 12 months was just not a sufficient enough amount of time.

Also we do work with cancer survivors and they all did well on our program.

We have offered and will continue to offer our services to help the client get to where she needs to be so that she is happy with our services. At no time did we ever neglect or refuse to provide the services we initially agreed upon.

I did understand that the program could take some time to work and did not think I would be healed in a few weeks. As mentioned previously, I have seen many physician's and have tried over 20+ types of medication and supplements; however, my body catches side effects of the majority of medications.

I could not justify continuing this program as the initial supplements were making me have headaches, extreme fatigue to where I was dozing off at my work and experiencing more extreme diarrhea which was causing me to spend even more time in the restroom. I could not jeopardize losing my job with my body going through the side effects of every supplement I tried.

Dr. *** told me he never had someone that had side effects to the supplements. I know he states he would work hard for me to where I would be happy with their services; however, their treatments is all through supplements. I am just unwilling to subject my body to more supplements as it is too hard on my system. I do not want to constantly feel miserable. I would not be able to perform my job functions by living in a restroom or by dozing off at work.

Unless you have had to deal with a compromised body, you will not totally understand where I am coming from. If I had a body that was just experiencing fatigue due to lack of hormones, etc. and these supplements caused your energy levels to increase, that is great. My reaction was quite the opposite. I want to live as productive a life that I can and unfortunately this program *** be a great program for some people, it is not a great program for me.

I am still disappointed in their financial policy guidelines as I did not foresee that I would have all these complications. I choose my job and a body that isn't constantly miserable over trying many different supplements with more side effects and misery.

Again....We are terribly sorry this client feels this way.

This client did have a 12 month program set up for her. All recommendations were based on her lab results. There are other options that we can and are willing do to help her. Based on the short time she was enrolled in our program...it did not offer us ample time to provide the supplemental options that would work for her..... this *** include taking different supplements, less supplements per day, etc....

We still are ready to be of service for her her and continue to work to a resolution for her complaints.

Again, only allowing approximately 4 weeks to resolve her issues compared to the agreed upon 12 months was just not a sufficient enough amount of time.

We are here and still willing to help the client get to where she needs to be so that she is happy with our services.

This response provided by Dr. *** clearly shows how this program is based solely on supplements..."Based on the short time she was enrolled in our program...it did not offer us ample time to provide the supplemental options that would work for her..... this *** include taking different supplements, less supplements per day, etc...."

At the time I signed up for this program, I had high hopes and did not think that I would have all the problems with every supplement I tried. (DHEA drops $36.95, Pregnenolone drops $36.95, Twice daily multi packs $83.25, Seriphos $36.99, Licorice Root $33.50, Phytob-L4X $36.00) which was close to $300 that I paid on top of the $5700 for this program. If I chose to go back to see Dr. ***, I would then be responsible for the additional cost of every supplement I would have to try; however, I am not willing to put out more money plus I am not willing to put my body through the testing phase of each supplement only to be used like a guinea pig. Since my diagnosis with cancer and after going through chemo, radiation, surgeries, etc. my body has totally changed. Every medication or supplement that I have tried I have had side effects. I can pretty much guarantee that no matter what I take I will have a side effect. Dr. *** can keep stating, "We are here and still willing to help the client get to where she needs to be so that she is happy with our services." Unfortunately, this office has shown me money is their motivation. If I was a physician and had a program that a patient could not start due to complications, I would reimburse that patient. Policies are in place for a reason but they can also be changed. Take the example of the salon owner who started working prior to Governor Abbot's release of that business to open. Yes she was put in jail; however, Governor Abbot changed the policy as he stated "Throwing Texans in jail who have had their businesses shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical..." That is why he modified the executive order to ensure confinement is not a punishment for violating an order. This shows processes can change. The owner of the salon was doing what she had to do to feed her family. I am doing what I had to do to not feel miserable which was stop using the program. It is no fault of my own that my system is compromised and does not agree with his program through all the supplements. As I mentioned before, everyone is not cookie cutter.
