Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic Reviews (2)

Review: On April 11, 2014; our dog got a cut around his neck so we called Orange County Emergency Pet Clinics on 3920 N. Harbor Blvd. Fullerton, CA; about pricing for stiches. The gentleman that works there told us to bring the dog in so the vet could exam our dog and will give us an estimate with no obligations. We specifically asked if there will be any additional charge before we went and was told by that gentleman that there will not be any charge at all if we decided to not have any work done. This was made very clear over the phone.

We got here and a lady receptionist gave us a form to fill out and took out dog to the back room. After a few minutes later, we were asked to go to the back room where our dog was. We were given two estimate options: a high and a low estimate of $900 and $700 something. It was too much for us, so we decline it. Lady receptionist went out and came back indicating there will be an exam charge of $59. We asked her to verify with the gentlemen that told us there will not be any charges over the phone. Lady receptionist verified and confirmed that the gentlemen did indicate so and her respond to us was “He is new and the exam fee will be $59.”

This company has a very bad practice of not being up front. First, we were told that there is no charge over the phone. Second, there is no sign posted anywhere that there will be an exam fee. We refused to pay the examination fee as we were told there was no charge before going there.

Now this company has sent me to their collection agency to collect the $59. Which I will have no choice but to pay as I do not want my credit to go bad.Desired Settlement: We need this company to be more up front about their fees to customers and to refund us $59 as we have no choice but to pay now due to sending us to collection agency.

Review: My cat became ill after giving him Hartz flea drops and I rushed him into the clinic and they took him right back. He was tended too and the staff was helpful. After paying a large bill and leaving my cat to be tended to, he unfortunately did not make it over night. I came back in to say my good byes and paid to have him cremated and requested for his paw print (as I have had this done at this location with a prior animal of ours). The tech who took my payment, wrote down my request right in front of me. I called 2 days later to follow up just to double check on the paw print request. The tech pulled my file and said "he see's it written down". Two weeks later [redacted] remains still did not arrive. I called to follow up and found out that he was still on hold at the vets due to a fur trimming request that I did not request. I told them to release him right away. A few days later I received his remains but NO PAW PRINT!! I was furious and contacted the clinic right away. The tech who took my call was not friendly and rude. She told me they no longer take paw print requests and I would've had to contact the cremations company. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT ORIGINALLY!! I would've done whatever I had to necessary to have the paw done if I had been given the correct information up front. She said call back monday to speak with the manager. I called back monday only to speak with another rude employee, the manager. She basically tried to flip it on me and that there was no fault to the clinic for this error. Ummmm yes it is!! She said all employees have been told about not accepting paw requests. If that is the case then person who helped me did not bother to mention it to me. She said to contact the administrator. I told her that this isn't like buying something wrong and returning it or whatever. This can never be undone!! I will never be able to get his paw print now! Oh and the fact that they held his remains for two weeks without notifying me of this or releasing him on time. I want them to train or educate their staff correctly on procedures/policies like this so that this does not happen to another pet owner. It is already an unfortunate situation that you have to go through only to have it go wrong.Desired Settlement: Proper training to staff regarding current policies and procedures.
