Attn: *** ***Revdex.com Reference: Complain ID # *** Dear ***, This is in response to the complaint we received concerning *** ***. He did in fact purchase a new Harley-Davidson Breakout from Orange County Harley-Davidson.
Shortly after he purchased the motorcycle it did have an internal engine problem which was corrected by having the engine replaced under factory warranty. We also gave him a free loaner bike as to not inconvenience him in any way while his bike was being repaired. Mr*** did return to our service department on two separate occasions to have light bulbs replaced, which once again, was replaced under factory warranty. The next time I heard from Mr*** was when he was having serious concerns about the running condition of his motorcycle, which he brought in for inspection. At that time we confirmed there was an abengine noise. The motorcycle had been heavily modified. Mr*** informed me that he had performed all the work to the motorcycle himself, including the maintenance service, installing wiring for handlebars and installing a new front brake line. Upon inspection, I informed Mr*** that the bike now had an incorrect oil filter installed on it which was severely leaking, as well as the front brake line had not been installed correctly because the bike has an ABS system and he had never purged the brake system properly to account for the ABS system. At that point Mr*** informed me that he wanted to have the motorcycle towed to Los Angeles Harley-Davidson of Anaheim because he had filed a complaint with Harley-Davidson Motor Company. The Motor Company informed him that they would send an inspector to that location. Mr*** asked if we could assist him in towing the motorcycle to him home, which we did. At that point once the motorcycle was removed from our dealership we were no longer involved in the repairs of his motorcycle. Subsequent to our involvement he received an offer by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee which in fact offered him another new motor if he would sign a waive of any additional claims made by him in the futureThey did that out of good will, because of all the self modifications he had done to his bike both electrical and mechanical which actually rendered his warranty voidThe owner did his own service and modifications to the bike and not according to the Manufacturers standardsWe and the Factory went above and beyond to try and help this customer but he failed to see what he had caused himself by doing these things to his bike against the Factory Recommended requirementsHe should have taken the offer on the new motor when it was offered.
