Review: Dr. Orbach never looked at the work his assistant (whom never had dental school)was told to do. I asked him to look at the work, he refused to! After the braces removed, the lower teeth were still crooked; however he insisted that his work was finished. After the orthodontist had the assistant remove the braces my crowded teeth were full of spaces throughout my mouth that caused the teeth to move around the teeth were not aligned) and the bite was off and it was difficult to eat. The teeth were supposed to be put back together instead of leaving numerous spaces throughout the teeth. My dentist, Dr [redacted], said it was important that I make an appointment with my orthodontist & ask: "What is his plan to finish the orthodontic treatment?" My dentist believed the problems could be corrected if he would do the work! Instead, Dr. Orbach terminated my unfinished braces because he was unable to provide the type of care he was able to help me! He asked to seek another orthodontist as soon as possible since he has no plan to finish the braces and will not follow up the care of my retainers. He complained that I asked him to look at the work his assistant was doing the work. I insisted him to look at the braces because I did not had any movement with the teeth. Dr. Orbach told the assistant she should have known the wires were not activated! Dr. Orbach spent all of the money in my insurance. [redacted] Insurance never received his Treatment Plan for 14 months and told Dr. Orbach he would not receive any more money until the Treatment Plan was sent! At that time, I only had 3 months left before the braces were removed! For 5 months I have no retainer appointments & no orthondontist is interested in finishing Dr. Orbach's bad work since he spent all of the insurance. [redacted] asked me to get Orbach's records. He only gave me the free consultant records. He never gave x-rays 2 me!Desired Settlement: Send records 2 me he refused 2 give me. I want the money returned. Orbach did not finish my treatment. [redacted] asked me to make an appointment (May 2014) to get my records. Orbach insisted that I sign his form before I received the records. I signed the form,, he had no records except the "free" consultation. He only used photos, not x-rays! [redacted] said Orbach's Treatment Plan was not qualified for the Procedure Code [redacted] because he had no Panoramic X-ray. His Code should be[redacted].

Response:

[redacted] was a patient at our practice between April 2012-April 2014 for orthodontic treatment. I'd like to address all of [redacted]'s statements since none of which are accurate or truthful.1. [redacted] is not very familiar with the operations of an orthodontic practice. She is under the assumption that orthodontic assistants must go to dental school. The orthodontic technicians that work at our practice are all certified orthodontic assistants. There are no assistants with dental school training. If they had gone to dental school, they would be dentists, The orthodontist saw [redacted] during every appointment. 2. The spaces [redacted] refers to are part of her gum conditions and recession, which is one of the possible consequences and risks of adult orthodontic treatment. That risk was discussed with [redacted] before she initiated her orthodontic treatment. She verbally consented, and CLEARLY signed a consent form before initiation of treatment, which stated all possible risks including gum recession. In addition, those issues were addressed ad nauseam throughout treatment, which was documented in her chart at every appointment. [redacted] was informed she could see a gum specialist if she would like to address those spaces. 3. [redacted]'s behavior to the orthodontist and his staff became intolerable. We have had several documented instances where she berated the staff and the doctor whom she referred to as "a psycho.” All of these instances were documented in her chart with witnesses present. 4. [redacted] filed a complaint with her insurance company, who found no wrongdoing on our part and closed her case. [redacted]'s statement about the insurance not receiving anything from our office is a blatant lie. Our office cooperated with her insurance with all of their inquiries, and they closed her case (we have proof from her insurance her case was closed.) A week after she found out her case was closed, she reached out to your office. 5, [redacted] received not one but two sets of retainers, free of charge after her orthodontic treatment was completed. She received a new set of retainers free of charge after she didn't like her initial set, even though she still had a balance on her account. Her account to this date has not been paid in full. 6. [redacted]'s behavior in the office had reached the point where she couldn't be managed properly. She was disruptive to the orthodontist and his staff, particularly, with rude name-calling. It was decided that the Patient-Doctor relationship had been severed and that [redacted] should seek another orthodontist if she would like to have her retainers reevaluated. [redacted] had to sign a release form, which is standard operating procedure in health care. It stated she is no longer a patient of our practice and that she will need to find a new practitioner if she wishes to have her retainers checked periodically. 7. We wish [redacted] the best, but she can no longer be seen at our practice.
