Review: Hello Revdex.com,On Saturday Sept 13th I entered Orchard Nutrtion Center, Healthfood store located at 221 Locust Street in Redding CA. I shop here often, about 3 times a week and am familiar with the staff and the stores products. I purchased a few items one of those was some bulk honey, half lb totaling $2.26. The plastic containers provided by the store are notorious for the lids falling off, I have had many a conversation with employees regarding the containers etc. Because of this the front cashiers, as is standard practice always tape the lids down to the container along with placing it in a separate bag. I went through the line purchased, items. I placed them in my backpack to take home. When I went to remove items at home the honey had spilled all inside the backpack and other food items. I was upset and looked and saw the lid had not been taped down as is usual. I realized that the cashier was new and must have forgot to tape the lid. I went back down to the store to speak with a manager after that. I spoke with a lady who said she was, but had no authority to do anything and I would have to come back on Monday to speak with someone. I was upset and planned on using the pack for a trip that afternoon and did not have time to clean it. I went in on monday to speak with a manager. I found someone who said he was. I spoke with him and he immediatly became hostile and did not address the issue with tact and in front of other customers. I showed him the damage and requested a solution and reimbursement for $2.26 worth of honey and cleaning of my pack, store credit or reimbursement for cleaning fee of the backpack. He was hostile walked away did not address my concerns and I was stuck trying to receive help from a symptomatic cashier who had no authority to do anything. She said he was the owner as well. The owner stormed off and left the store saying ala Sienfeld episode said "no honey". I was extremely offended and was left with no resolution to the damaged caused to pack and honey.Desired Settlement: I am hoping for credit of $2.26 worth of honey.I am also hoping they will replace the containers with ones that stay closed or get rid of them all together. I am hoping to have my backpack addressed that was damaged with honey all over it and its contents by either; 1. employee clean backpack that had honey damage all over it. 2. reimbursement of cost of having it professionally cleaned3. Reimburse myself for time and loss of use to it if I have to clean it myself at $504. An apology

Response:

Business states that the clerk tapes up the container out of courtesy but it is not the business responsibility or obligation to do it. The consumer proceeded to put the honey container in his backpack. Even with the scotch tape the, container may have still spilled in his backpack. Business was willing to replace the honey and help clean the backpack but consumer became unaccommodating and refused. Consumer insisted he wanted the honey replaced and compensation for the backpack. The honey is water soluble and it is only a sticky mess. The consumer is the individual who put the honey in the backpack at his own will. After his failure to cooperate with us in accommodating him and his unreasonable demands the offer is now off the table. Consumer should be able to clean backpack with a wet rag.
