Account # [redacted] Procedure Code Dated 11/07/I saw the urgent care clinic due to a swelling infection in my knuckle from a cutI had previously seen Columbia Medical, to which they had attempted to drain the cut the previous day and had failed, saying they could drain nothingThe next day when I arrived, the doctor recommended the same procedure even though I told her that it had failed the previous dayNot knowing at all that it was a "procedure", or even if it had any additional cost, she sterilizes and attempts to numb my finger, and then makes several incisions on my fingerShe is unable to drain any fluid, and then says that the "antibiotics should take care of it anyways"I now have scars covering my knuckle, and the anti biotic did deal with the infectionWhat I am disputing is the price gouging of $(before insurance) leaving me with a $bill for a failed procedure that I never neededFurthermore, I had no knowledge of the procedure having a cost, and w

This is a disputed bill I sent this company a letter on 12/22/to dispute their $charge, and I did not receive a response from them The issue is that this is a duplicate billing for the same date of service My health insurance company already paid this bill in full Therefore, I disputed the validity of this bill After my dispute letter on December 22, 2017, I did not hear back from the company Then on March 13, I received a notice that I had been turned over to collections (*** *** ***) I do not owe this money!

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
As I am the one filing the Complaint, IT IS NOT CLOSED.
1. No, I could not possibly pay as I was not billed
2. I wasn't aware I had a balance, but I shall check my records, to verify
3. You are saying I should have been aware of fees - I was NEVER given copies of what I signed, via computer. I did ask for them both times, but *** would tell me "next time".
I never received any documentation of the dental work being performed

Thank you for contacting the Patient Advocate Office at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). After receiving your grievance on 12/14/I took the opportunity to review the chart as well as contact a supervisor at OHSU's Billing Department
After looking into this matter I
can confirm that Billing verified the diagnosis code for this visit. This diagnosis resulted in a denial from the patient's insurance, leaving the patient liable for $
On behalf of OHSU, I am sorry that there was confusion regarding the billing for date of service 4/17/While the billing for this date of service has been deemed correct, OHSU would like for offer you a discount for this date of service in the name of patient appreciation. The discount for that date of service is $29.25. Since our records indicate that you have already paid your portion of the 4/17/date of service, arrangements have be made for this discounted amount of $to be refunded to you. This refund will be sent directly to you
As of 12/15/Oregon Health and Science University considers this grievance closed. Should you have any further concerns, you may contact me directly at ***
Respectfully,
Kelly F*, MBA, MSW

Complaint is being sent because of the dental student going back into December of last year and changing a code; therefore, charging me in July the amount of $My previous statements showed I had a zero balanceAlso, defective dental work that was not caught, as she kept me until 6:pm, when no supervisors were there t check the work - She over drilled the tooth, leaving a gap

Re: #[redacted] – Consumer Complaint, Revdex.comDear XXXWe are in receipt of a complaint filed by you through the Revdex.com. Our response to your complaint has been investigated with the following results. The dental student, XXX had called you on XXX to inform you that she had provided XXX that she had inadvertently not billed you for. This service was provided on XXX .This is why youhave some billing statements that show a XXX your account, as the charges had not been posted.Codes were not changed – they were merely added as completed services which then initiates the charges on the account. The following is a summary of what transpired:You consented XXXXXX The estimated cost The XXX was a XXX for which the charge XXXAs you are aware, we are a fee-for-service provider, and request that the payments be made at the time of service. We recognize that this was not possible since the charges were not made until after your departure from the clinic. However,At the time of this service on XXX you were already carrying a balance of XXX payment of XXX You made no payment for the service that was provided on XXX and since you had been informed through a treatment plan estimate, one normally would surmised there should be a fee charged for that appointment. We can print out the signed treatment estimates for you to show that you should have been aware of the estimated costs of the treatment being performed.  We are not insensitive to fixed incomes and budgeting, and we recognize that maintenance and preventive care can prevent someone from needing a multitude of dental procedures (you still have more to do). Our compromise is to reduce the fee for the restoration of XXX (the one you are disputing) to the estimated cost of XXX instead of the actualIt is unfortunate that we had a delay in the billing, as I am sure it would not have been as confusing if this was 6 months earlier. We can make arrangements to not involve any collections agencies as we also recognize that this delayed billing can catch people by surprise. While we understand there is a measure of distrust now, I would also greatly encourage you to continue to have your restorative work done as you can afford it, whether it is at the School of Dentistry or elsewhere.Regarding issues that you have raised that appear to truly be superfluous to your true concern of the financial responsibility, you may have been encouraged to seek your care through our Recare Program or Faculty Dental Practice as based on your dental needs. While a bit more expensive, the appointment time for treatment is more flexible, and the actual appointments are shorter in duration. This is for the convenience of the patient, and certainly is your choice to be “upstairs” or not. We feel it is always nice to have options. The situation of a dental student working past the normal clinic hours is always present because they are students. However, the faculty is present on the floor when students are working, so your work truly was not unsupervised as you suggest.  We would ask that if you believe there has been treatment that is not done         well, then these are issues that are best addressed in your interaction with the student and the faculty – something that you should be comfortable enough to discuss with your student as part of the provider-patient communication.  Making a complaint through a third-party does nothing to help the trust between the dental care provider and patient.
