I picked up an item off the shelf that was priced at $12.99. When the item was rang up at the cash register, the price was $15.49 plus 7% NC tax, which brought the price to $16.57. I did not realize the over charge until I left the store. I called the store on the phone and explained what had happened. The lady I was talking to told me that was the tax added. I told her that the cost on the receipt was $15.49 and tax was $1.08. She stated again that was the tax. I told her not unless the store charged two taxes. She then told me I could come back to the store for a refund. I arrived at the store and was told the price on the shelf was $14.99, but the price when I was there was $12.99. I walked back to where the item was on the shelf and the price tag was gone. They rang up 14.99 on the register and with the tax and came up with $16.34 total. A difference of .23. I told the that was not right, if the item was $14.99 (Which it was not, it was $12.99) the difference before tax was .50. They said they could not control the tax. The tax for the same item should not change from 7% to 9% from the time I left until I arrived back at the store. They eventually gave me .53, which was still not correct. I was tired of trying to explain to them. They lied about the posted price on the shelf(It was posted at $12.99, not $14.99) My refund of the difference should have been $2.67, but they only gave me .53. They still owe me $2.14.
