Review: In 2012 we contracted with Alvarado tree company to remove a silver maple tree from our front yard and another in the back yard and grind the stump. We had repeated difficulty getting Alvarado to do what they had promised when they promised it. Particularly was the inability for an estimator for the job to arrive on time. After they finally came and chopped down the trees they informed us that their equipment to grind and remove our stumps was broken and it would take several weeks to do. This was not what we had agreed upon. Finally after several weeks they returned and did the stump grinding. We ended up having to speak with the owner to get the job done.

Based on this when our Magnolia tree blew over in a storm we ended selecting another vendor instead. This vendor used Miss Utility to mark our yard. Alvarado never did such when they did our work. They put us at risk unecessarily as a gas could have been hit.

A few weeks ago we went to plant a tree in the spot in the front yard where the previous stump and been removed. Unfortunately we discovered that large parts of the stump were never removed. We called Alvarado and were given rather nasty responses such as "why did you wait a whole year" and "if you did not ask us to remove the roots we are not responsible for it". The person who answered the phone just like the previous year was argumentative and defensive rather than helpful. We asked if an estimator could come to look. This was scheduled for a monday. We called when no one arrived they said it would take several days for an estimator to come and look. We noted our disastisfaction with this and how we had been treated by the company and again the retort was "why did you wait over a year" to call us.

We ended up using a competing company who was courteous, prompt and helpful to clear the hole of the remaining part of the stump that Alvarado did not remove.

"Desired Settlement: We would like Alvardo to write us a check for the $190 that we paid to a competitor to remove the rest of the stump that they should have removed in the first place.
