Ormolu Appraisals & Estate Sales: [redacted] and [redacted] and their team provided excellent services for our parent’s estate sale. After doing a lot of research, we interviewed four promising estate sales companies, and decided on Ormolu because we thought they were professional and would provide personal service instead of dealing with a company that farms the work out to someone else on their staff. We were not disappointed. It is a bit uneasy turning over keys to your house to someone and then walking away and letting them handle everything, but our trust was not misplaced. Although we live in town, we stopped by a few times before the sale to see how things were going. [redacted] or [redacted] were always there working and sometimes had members of their team helping, too. They cleaned everything, fixed broken items that were reparable, rearranged the entire house to display items, brought in tables and display cabinets, replaced burned out light bulbs, and put price/description tags on items. Everything was so well organized that you could tell they had been doing this a long time. During the sale, rooms were staffed with personnel to open locked curio cabinets and prevent pilferage, and access to the house was controlled for added security. They gave our sale their undivided attention and had no other sales going on at the same time. [redacted] and [redacted] did not bother us with a lot of calls about small things, but did keep in regular contact with status updates and questions on major decisions. They handled it all, including customer removal and pick-up of everything, including lighting fixtures and large furniture. After the sale was over, [redacted] and [redacted] gave us a list of items sold/prices, check for the proceeds, house key, and list of people interested in buying the house. One of the things we learned in going through this process was that we should not have gone through and donated/thrown out anything before calling an estate sale company, because they handle all the small items such as kitchen gadgets, clothes, non-perishable food, junk drawer (everyone has one!) items, etc., not just the big/expensive items. Our only disappointment was that the market for some items such as hummels is not good, so some things did not bring in as much as initially expected. If you do not have the resources, time, or expertise to hold your own estate sale, we highly recommend Ormolu.
