Worst experience ever waited an hr to be seen which was expected but receiptionist Dennis was very rude and she didn't even book a apt because I didn't have X-rays

March 6,
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Dr*** ***, the orthopedic surgeonI am writing in response to the complaints to the Revdex.com made by my patient, *** ***
*** was first seen in my office on 1/7/At that
time, she had complaints of left ankle pain, swelling, difficulty walking secondary to a fall on the ice at homeShe was seen at the hospitalShe was examined, x-rayed, treated with a splint, and referred to our office for orthopedic evaluation and treatment.
X-rays were read as positive for non-displaced fracture to her left distal fibula but clinically she acted more as if she had a sprain of her ankleShe was treated with an ASO ankle support from the hospitalShe was also given anti-inflammatories and crutchesWe had her continue with the treatment as prescribed per the hospital
She returned to my office days later on 1/10/She still has complaints of pain and pain and discomfort about her ankle. We repeated x-rays and again the x-rays appeared to be the sameWe treated her with a fracture boot at that timeWe had her continue with the crutchesWe gave her an analgesic
She returned to my office again on 1/22/She still has complaints of pain and discomfort about her ankle. She states her ankle was not improvedWe sat down and spoke with her for a period of time regarding this informing her that the fracture would take anywhere from to weeks before it starts getting more comfortable, that fractures do not heel immediately and that pain in her ankle with a fracture or sprain is an expected symptomPatient again stated she thought the fracture boot was causing her painWe again informed her that the pain was coming from the fracture and the sprainWe discussed a castWe stated if she really wanted a cast she can have one but we discussed the advantages, pros and cons between a cast and a fracture boot and she decided to continue with the fracture boot
She returned again to my office on 1/29/being weeks post injuryShe stated her ankle still hurt herWe sent her for an MRI which demonstrated a fracture as well as a sprain to her ankleThe fracture was non-displacedWe had her continue with the fracture boot
She returned to 2/10/She stated her ankle still hurt herIt was weeks at that timeWe were going to allow her to start partial weight bearing to her ankle. She was talking about a cast againWe informed her that her fracture boot would be removed in the next to weeks and again offered her a castIn the end, she stated she would continue with the fracture boot
As you can see from ***’s history, *** appears to have an unrealistic expectation of her injury and course of careThe fact is that broken bones and sprained ankles do hurtI do see patients with similar complaints as ***’sI do spend time discussing their condition, their symptoms, and their treatment which I had done with ***I believe I was very patient with her but it seems that nothing I could say or do for her was good enoughShe always appeared to have expectations that in my opinion were unrealisticShe wanted no pain in her foot and ankleIf I could have done that for her, I would haveI cannot make a fracture or sprain heal any faster than it normally wouldI believe her course of care was within the standards of medical careJust the fact that her fracture had not moved, stayed in excellent position, and the swelling was resolving, it is my opinion that she will be better in a short period of time, also believe that she may experience continued pain about her foot and ankle because fractures and sprains do continue to hurt for a period of time with weather changes

Sincerely yours,

I recently had a major injury (May 2017) where I was taken to the emergency roomUpon my release, I was told to follow up with my orthopedic Drfor medication and MRIWhen I called Orthopedic Associated to make my appointment and gave my name I was promptly put on hold and transferred to the billing deptI was told that I had an outstanding balance from that went into collection and was written off, in which I explained I am sure that was paid in fullAlthough very polite, the woman explained to me that she did not have a record of that payment and that I could not make an appointment with my Druntil this payment was settledperiodAgain, they are refusing to make an appointment with me until an already paid bill was paid in full
In excruciating pain and needing to see my DrI reluctantly gave her my credit card information and paid (for a second time) my bill in fullWhen I arrived at my appointment I tried to ask about billing but was told no billing was done on

Review: I was billed on 3/**/2013 for an office visit, and later an additional $901.81, for what I was explained covered two additional visits for the issue I had been seen for during that first visit. On 4/*/2013, I had returned for a followup visit, and was charged an additional office visit, because x-rays were taken. The fact that x-rays were taken, made the second visit different from a standard visit, for which I was pre-charged on 3/**/2013. I questioned how I could be pre-charged for two visits, but never actually got two fully covered visits, and now I am receiving collection notices to cover the $955.73 worth of office visits that I never did, and will not do.Desired Settlement: I should not be responsible for paying $955.73 in services for which were never rendered.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

After careful review again, I feel I am only responsible to pay for the office visits and services I actually received. This means I will pay for the services rendered minus the charges for the additional two office visits that I was charged for and never received. There is a fundamental problem with what was charged to me. How can I be asked to pay for visits that I did not receive. Please provide me with the total for the services I actually received.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Orthopedic Associates of Dutche County regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Review: their not a very friendly business everyone is so cocky and has such an attitude its like when you call their smart to you on the phone, they treat you like you dont belong there like its such a hassle to make an appointment and when you do they have an attitude my doctor tried telling me I didnt have a break but the er doctor seen it right away I had to get an mri then he says to me oh you have a break. its been over 6 weeks and my foot has not healed yet instead of casting it from the beginning he talked me into a air boot which doesnt even fit right and then he gave me an attitude cause I wasnt to happy with having the boot but I wound up with the boot I feel if he cast it from the beginning it would be healed by now.by the time im done with him I will be on crutches 9 weeks or longer their whole attitude of this business really stinks no one talks nice to you and their NOT friendly to anyone I have not seen anyone except the xray tech be nice to anyone and she talks nice to everyone everyone. as for anyone else forget it. I have heard so many complaints abnout this company that once someone recommends them they wont go there I have had other doctors and nurses who had nothing nice to say about them either. its really a shame. I will never go back there,Desired Settlement: I dont know what to tell you about how to settle this but all I know is something needs to be done.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Dr. [redacted], the orthopedic surgeon. I am writing in response to the complaints to the Revdex.com made by my patient, [redacted].

**. [redacted] was first seen in my office on 1/7/14. At that time, she had complaints of left ankle pain, swelling, difficulty walking secondary to a fall on the ice at home. She was seen at the hospital. She was examined, x-rayed, treated with a splint, and referred to our office for orthopedic evaluation and treatment.

X-rays were read as positive for non-displaced fracture to her left distal fibula but clinically she acted more as if she had a sprain of her ankle. She was treated with an ASO ankle support from the hospital. She was also given anti-inflammatories and crutches. We had her continue with the treatment as prescribed per the hospital.

She returned to my office 3 days later on 1/10/14. She still has complaints of pain and pain and discomfort about her ankle. We repeated x-rays and again the x-rays appeared to be the same. We treated her with a fracture boot at that time. We had her continue with the crutches. We gave her an analgesic.

She returned to my office again on 1/22/14.. She still has complaints of pain and discomfort about her ankle. She states her ankle was not improved. We sat down and spoke with her for a period of time regarding this informing her that the fracture would take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks before it starts getting more comfortable, that fractures do not heel immediately and that pain in her ankle with a fracture or sprain is an expected symptom. Patient again stated she thought the fracture boot was causing her pain. We again informed her that the pain was coming from the fracture and the sprain. We discussed a cast. We stated if she really wanted a cast she can have one but we discussed the advantages, pros and cons between a cast and a fracture boot and she decided to continue with the fracture boot.

She returned again to my office on 1/29/14 being 3 weeks post injury. She stated her ankle still hurt her. We sent her for an MRI which demonstrated a fracture as well as a sprain to her ankle. The fracture was non-displaced. We had her continue with the fracture boot.

She returned to 2/10/14. She stated her ankle still hurt her. It was 5 weeks at that time. We were going to allow her to start partial weight bearing to her ankle. She was talking about a cast again. We informed her that her fracture boot would be removed in the next 4 to 5 weeks and again offered her a cast. In the end, she stated she would continue with the fracture boot.

As you can see from **. [redacted]’s history, **. [redacted] appears to have an unrealistic expectation of her injury and course of care. The fact is that broken bones and sprained ankles do hurt. I do see patients with similar complaints as **. [redacted]’s. I do spend time discussing their condition, their symptoms, and their treatment which I had done with **. [redacted]. I believe I was very patient with her but it seems that nothing I could say or do for her was good enough. She always appeared to have expectations that in my opinion were unrealistic. She wanted no pain in her foot and ankle. If I could have done that for her, I would have. I cannot make a fracture or sprain heal any faster than it normally would. I believe her course of care was within the standards of medical care. Just the fact that her fracture had not moved, stayed in excellent position, and the swelling was resolving, it is my opinion that she will be better in a short period of time, also believe that she may experience continued pain about her foot and ankle because fractures and sprains do continue to hurt for a period of time with weather changes.
