I have never had a worse experience with a doctor's office than this beforeMy father was injured at work and needed immediate attentionAfter going to the ER we looked into OrthoVirginia because of its convenient location and since his children must translate for himThey refused to book an appointment until the workman's compensation adjustor authorized it, despite our repeated offers to pay out of pocket or to use our own private insuranceIn fact, we were told quite disingenuously, that it was "illegal" for them to see him until the workers' comp claim number was providedI later called the Workers' Compensation Commission and told that was falseEventually after several days of effort, while trying to find another doctor, we were able to finally see a doctorWhile his assessment and treatment were adequate, what happened next was not*** *** refused to see my father while he was in the office for a followup when my father said that pain had spread up the side of his leg near the injured area*** *** said once again, the limitations of the insurance were such that he was limited to the only the original injured areaNow, we are looking to switch doctors, but are told our medical records will cost "an unknown" amount, since they outsource that service and can take two weeksSave your time and money! Find someone elseAtrocious, money-centered folksDon't believe their website about being "patient-oriented."

The doctor has agreed to write off the collector fee. We have alrady called the collector requesting this be done. There will be NO effect on the patient's credit rating*** ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Thank you! This letter is to reject the response provided by business OrthoVirginia, Inc., as copied to me in your letter dated May 11, 2017. I am rejecting the response for the following reasons: I was not provided, nor did I agree to and/or sign any Financial Disclosure Agreement. A fee of **% of the original charge was applied to my account despite the fact that the original charge was paid in full by me directly to OrthVirginia; and its contractor / collector “*** *** ***” earned no such fee for collection attempts. A breakdown of fees amounting to **% of the original charge were never disclosed to me either verbally or in writing and are arbitrary. A fee of **% of the original charge is excessive. This business changed its name / ownership on or about the time of original service, and failed to disclose this change to meIf attempts by mail and phone were made by OrthoVirginia (formerly Commonwealth Orthopedics), said efforts went unnoticed as I had no dealings at any time with any business by this name. Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter. Regards,

Ms. [redacted] brought this patient to OrthoVirginia for first visit on 7-13-2015.  She signed paperwork as the financially responsible party.  She also signed the [redacted] Policy which states if multiple attempts to collect payment are unsuccessful we reserve the right to turn the...

outstanding balance over to the collection agency and in addition to the balance you will be responsible for any legal or collection fees. Documentation of her signing our [redacted] Policy will be provided upon request and if necessary.  Ms. [redacted] was sent 8 statements to the address she provided and we did not receive any response or return mail.  The account was turned over to [redacted] on 4-16-16.  They sent her a collection letter on 4-24-16 and received no response or return mail. Additionally, phone multiple phone calls were made by the collection agency starting on 5-13-16 without acknowledgement. Ms. [redacted] first contacted OrthoVirginia on 5-2-2017 via phone.  OrthoVirginia stands by its billing practices.  This person received multiple (8) statements from OrthoVirginia and did not acknowledge them to pay her debt until she checked her credit report and called OrthoVirginia on 5-2-2017, approximately 22 months after receiving services.    William H[redacted]

[redacted] had a charge incorrectly posted to his account in the amount of [redacted] dollars.  This is a case of a charge being posted on the wrong account.  Our billing office should have removed the charge on [redacted] when the patient first called and brought this to our attention, but...

unfortunately did not.  The charge has been removed and his account has a zero balance.    We are sorry for this error and inconvenience for Mr. Tran.

I have utilized the services of OrthoVA for a variety of issues over a period of 12 years. I have never experienced anything described by the previous reviews. My issues have ranged from rotator cuff surgeries, knee pain injections, knee replacement and back/sciatic pain management. I've dealt with five different doctor's according to the needed specialty. The P A's I have dealt with were great as well as their support staff. Their after hours services are based on a first come first served basis. I didn't like dealing with a PA whom I didn't know but he was kind and responsive. I've waited once for an appointment for 45 minutes other times I been less than five to ten minutes and that's due to patient late arrival times. Lastly, their staff doing all billing etc. have always been helpful and of all the appointments and services I've never had a problem with my insurance or their billing. I highly recommend the Hanover office.

Boulders Location:
The front office staff were quite indifferent about my excessive wait time. I arrived 10 minutes early. My appointment was at 4pm, I was not called back until 4:40pm. I approached the front office staff at 15minutes after my appointment, the staff did not seemed concerned nor were they apologetic. I would not refer this office to anyone.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  At no time did I (consumer) sign off on any financial policy / disclosure statement agreeing to **% in collection  / attorney's fees, or otherwise. No such financial disclosure statement was signed / agreed to by me, or was disclosed by the practice. Please provide said written evidence thereof.  Furthermore, fee is excessive, and unearned: Am I to believe a software generated form letter, sent to me on 8 occasions, costs OrthoVirginia / its Collections Agency $[redacted] each? That is ridiculous. The practice is attempting to pass along its percentage payable to its collections agency to me, the consumer, which was unearned by both OrthoVirginia / its Collections Agency.

My daughter had a terrible experience with [redacted] (The Boulder's Office location). She fractured her clavicle without any trauma (she simply shrugged and heard a POP) and on our first visit, [redacted] response to how it occurred was "I don't buy it, but whatever", and was very rushed and would not address any of my concerns over why and how that could happen - stated nothing could be done until after she healed.
I called the office manager and requested a follow up with a different doctor in their practice, but the other pediatric doctor refused.
When we went to the follow up appointment with [redacted], I wanted answers on how she could break a bone from shrugging and he advised "It shouldn't happen, but clearly it did and I have no explanation". After he left the room because he clearly thought the appointment was over, I asked the nurse to send him back in because I had more questions, I asked him what he thought about her bone density - he said that it looked fine based on the X-ray and he didn't want to perform "Shotgun medicine, but he would order the test although he knew the results would be normal". (that is a very shortened version of the convo - it took a lot of convincing on my end to get him to order it)
I am thankful that I pushed him because her bone density results showed "Significantly lower than normal for her age" and when I took her to her general physician for 2nd opinion, she ordered blood tests which showed an extreme Vitamin D deficiency.
If I had not pushed for that testing and just assumed that he knew best as the doctor - how much worse would my daughter's health get? Scary to think about. [redacted] is clearly negligent - he has zero bedside manner and serves patients like they are at a fast food restaurant - get them in and out. I would NEVER recommend him and frankly, I don't believe he should be a doctor at all. If you don't care about your patients - why do it?

I have been a patient with this medical practice for several different issues. I recall a time when they performed an elbow surgery. I finished the physical therapy. But, I was having some numbness, tingling and falling asleep in my little finger. I called the office and left a voice mail seeking answers. That was 13 years ago. I still have not received an answer. The doctor that performed the surgery, had NO bedside manner. Neither did he ever answer any face to face questions I asked. He basically would look at me as if my lips were moving and I was speaking a different language. I should have taken a lesson from this experience. However, I continued to go to this facility for other issues. I was a patient for 1 year for a back injury. Moving forward to present date, I've been back to this office for my back issue. Nothing had changed regarding the nature of how patients are treated. As if they are merely, animals with no feelings or emotions. Not worthy of having any questions answers. The Orthopedic physician saw me once. Thereafter, I was seen by his assistant. I felt invisible when communicating with the Physician's Assistant. Adding insult to injury, they claimed to have mixed up my work release paperwork with that of another patient. This has cost me financial hardship. I've called the office, leaving voice mails specifying the contact number to return my call. They have never called that number. They have yet to confirm that they indeed put me on medical restrictions. And, I have the paperwork with my SSN, name, and other identifying information. Therefore, how could my paperwork be that of another patient? Also, my HR staff telephoned the doctor's office to confirm the restrictions. The office confirmed. Now, denies. Many years ago when the office was West End Orthopedic Clinic, they had some issues. However, even with those issues, I thought there wasn't anyway they could have gotten any worst. WRONG!

My husband has been in pain and injured with a herniated disc for 4 MONTHS! I have called and called and left messages and have been told that a nurse or a doctor or a SOMEONE was going to return my call. FINALLY on 03/10/14 I get in touch with Lisa. She states that she is off on 03/11/14 and will leave a message for Kristen, who by the way is the most RUDE, UNPROSESSIONAL individual I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. I called on 03/11/14 and got Kristen (rude) on the phone who states she has no message from Lisa and then states that I was supposed to call her. This office obviously cannot get the stories, facts or patient care in order. They probably should reevaluate their courses of action with patient care and re-evaluate their choices in unreliable staff. This will not be the only complaint I file today. Unbelievable.

[redacted] office at OrthoVirginia is quite possibly the least organized and completely incompetent doctor's office I have ever been to and OrthoVirginia AfterHours is a complete scam. I called to set up an appointment with [redacted] and was told that there were no available appointments for months and was told to go to AfterHours and they could give me an initial assessment as well as set me up with a follow up appointment. I went there, waited for 1 hour in the lobby, and another hour in the actual doctors office before an actual doctor came in. His diagnosis was, "I don't know" you have to see [redacted]. This literally took him about 10 minutes for my actual doctor visit and consultation but waited 2 hours for them to tell me nothing. They were "magically" able to set me up with an appointment with [redacted] right away even though the previous person on the phone said he had nothing available (this was all within the span of about 6 hours and it wasn't just 1 spot open because of a cancellation, there were multiple spots open). Once I got to [redacted] office, he was unprofessional to say the least. He has terrible bedside manner and when I asked him what I should do and how should I handle my ailment, he actually asked me on multiple occasions "What would you like to do?". I didn't know how to answer him since I don't go to doctors and self diagnosis or self-evaluate myself. If I was able to do that, then I wouldn't need a doctor's help. After about 15 minutes, with awkward pauses of silence in-between, he basically said he had no idea what it was and it was my choice as to whether I should get an MRI to find out, or just not be able to walk right for 6-8 months. At that point, I don't think it was a hard decision to get an MRI and actually try to figure out what is wrong with my foot since no one has even remotely given me a diagnosis yet.
Afterward, their office was supposed to send my medical history to my insurance company but didn't. A week goes by, I call their office to find out what happened, and the nurse just tells me, "I couldn't find it". So rather than asking me or calling me or even talking to the insurance company, she just decided that since she could figure it out, that she would just not do it. I called the insurance company, spent about 4 hours at work calling back and forth between them and the nurse (I don't understand why she could pick up the phone and call herself) and they she finally sent the information to the insurance company. Perfect example of her laziness and absolute incompetence, she asked me to call the insurance company so I could get her their fax number. I told her the number for the insurance company is on the card she photocopied, and she said, "Oh, sure is. but can you call them for me and get their fax number?". I didn't even know how to respond to her without be offensive, I'm fairly certain that is why they photocopy the card (to have information in regards to the insurance company) and I'm also pretty sure I'm not your personal secretary. I adamantly told her to keep me in the loop, if they respond or do not respond, let me know and I will call the insurance company or do whatever I can to help the situation along. Fast forward 2 weeks later, and I call to get an update since no one has contacted me yet, and same nurse says that they just didnt call her back, and it never occurred to her to tell me that they didnt call her back or didnt approve or disapprove of the MRI. So at this point, Im back to square one. If you are looking for a foot and ankle specialist in Richmond VA, please look somewhere else, they already have a couple of negative reviews and now I see why. They will know who I am because of the specifics I've listed above but I am never coming back here ever again so it doesn't matter. Save yourself from the headache
