Ortiz Heating & Air Conditioning

Review: The owner of the Ortiz Heating and Air Conditioning came to my residence on 07/10/13 to check the AC unit. After checking the unit, he said the compressor is frozen and would be better to replace the whole unit as the compressors are expensive to replace. We both verbally agreed. He said that he will bring a new AC Unit from a company called CARRIER & the estimate was $2200.00. He asked for some money down so I gave him a check for $1000.00. Next morning he called and said the unit was there and for me to meet him for the installation. Upon arrival I saw the unit was from another company called THERMAL ZONE. I asked him few times about the unit before installation to give me information on the product but he kept saying that it is the same company. Later in the day he called three other guys to help him finish the job saying they were his students and as he was getting drunk. They all finished the job at 5:00pm & the other guys left. He brought me a regular receipt for the balance. The regular receipt was representative of his business "ORTIZ HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING". Furthermore he scratched out the prices on the United Refrigeration, Inc. receipt from which he purchased the Thermal Zone AC unit when I asked to match the serial number. I asked him to give me manufacture warranty papers, but he refused to give me anything. I told him that until he gave me all the paper work I was not going to pay him at that moment. He started threatening me saying he was going to put the wires backwards. As being drunk, I don't know what he did. I called Modesto P.D. but they said it is a civil issue & you have to resolve it on your own. When the P.D. arrived, he was already gone, and stole the breakers for the AC Unit from my property. So the bottom line is he didn't deliver the product he was supposed, did the installation adding needed gas and oil in the lines and also stole the breakers from my property. So please do the investigation about this individual named Jesus Ortiz Lic.#XXXXXX

I would like him to take the unit back and give me my $1000.00 back and bring back the stolen breakers. Carrier and Thermal Zone are two completely different products and manufactured by two separate companies. The unknown job done due to the his drunk condition arises concern for personal health, as a couple of family members suffer from health conditions.

The air conditioner was in working order after installation. As for the guys, one was my professor an two students from my air conditioning school so they could get hands on training. The unit was not damaged as stated. After her refusal to pay the remainder of her bill, I shut off the freon valve on unit and turned the disconnect backwards. The warrantee for the unit was only 6 months, I was willing to give her 10 years. She was not satisfied, if I shoot you the warrantee would be no good. With the threat of harm to myself I left. She did not call to have me fix or replace unit. She complaint to you instead. Her claim is unfounded.

The response of the business is not satisfactory due the lack of professionalism in the job. Firstly, Jesus Ortiz did not inform me that he was going to bring "students" over while installing the ac unit. This is clearly lacking professionalism. The unit had damages done as well, there is photographic evidence to support my claim as well as a written invoice from [redacted]'s [redacted] which was called to repair the damages Jesus Ortiz left. The refusal to pay the remainder of the bill was in response to bringing a different brand ac unit, other than the claim that a Carrier Unit was installed. However, the unit, Thermal Zone has no affiliation or relation to any Carrier products. He refused to provide any official paper work regarding the Thermal Zone unit. The 10 year warranty was only verbal and provided by his business, not a manufactured, stated while intoxicated. There was no threat of harm to him from us at all. But he was a threat to us, as for damaging the line set, stealing the disconnect pullout, stealing the contactor, and cutting the wires at the condenser. In addition, Jesse Ortiz'a "business associate" called my work phone demanding remaining balance and threatening to put a lean on the property.
