The customer [redacted] came in to buy a transmission standard for his ford explorer and asked

us to install it. he agreed to pay $800 and we started the labor as soon as the car arrived. we than sent

our transmission to a transmission specialist to get inspected so we can give a warranty on the unit.

and the person who inspected the transmission asked us to change two brand new gears for the unit.

also the transmission specialist noticed that the shifter stick was a aftermarket and was not working

properly. we asked the customer to get us a factory made shifter. but the customer failed to bring a

shifter to replace it. we also notice the car had an exhaust leak. the customer was also told about it and

we told him to bring a special bolt for the exhaust. he also failed to bring it. we were also willing to

remove our transmission and install his old one If he was not happy with the transmission and with a

full refund of his $800 with in the warranty period. and he has failed to return it.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The above letter from Otay Auto Wrecking is not entirely true. When I picked up my truck, it was making a very loud noise from the exhaust. That's because they stripped the bolt that holds the exhaust in place in order to drop the trans. They didn't even tell me about it when I picked it up. When I took my truck in, I could barely get the shifter in gear. I had the very same problem when I picked it up. They blamed it on the after market shifter I installed. They also told me to get a factory shifter and bring it back. They will replace it for free. I paid for a rebuilt transmission. It seems as though it was the very same one I had and they did absolutely nothing to it! I took it to [redacted]'s [redacted] and Auto Care 12 days after picking it up from Otay and they fixed the loud exhaust that THEY caused. That was $145. 2 days later I took it to [redacted] and paid them $750 to replace clutch kit, pressure plate, disc plate, outer pilot bearing, resurfaced flywheel, cover slave seal, rear main seal and after all of that, my truck WITH the after market shifter runs like brand new. I didn;t and never will take my truck back to Otay auto wrecking because that's exactly what they did. They wrecked my truck. They didn't do anything except make the problem worse. $800 + 145 + 750 = 1695 is a steep price to pay for a decent running transmission that's used. I just wanted some compensation and when I called Otay to try and resolve this matter after having my truck repaired at [redacted], they said theyu would take out the rebuilt one and replace it with my old one and give my money back. My truck was running fine but they shouldn't have to do that if they had done it right the first time. I'm at wits end with Otay and feel that I've been swindled. Please advise.
