Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
When Otay Crossing sold me the insurance for the storage unit, I was never made aware of what the policy did or did not coverI had been informed by an employee of Otay Storage that the company had a rodent issue in the areaWhen they told me I would need insurance for the unit, I assumed that the policy sold would protect me from rodent damages since it was a problem the company faced and that was the only insurance I was allowed to haveThey never told me that particular type of damage wasn't coveredI have no prior experience with purchasing/renting a storage unit, so therefore, was no way I could reasonably foresee that I would not be covered by the insurance I purchased.

Self Storage. And it is also true that the insurance he purchased did not cover his claim. What Mr. [redacted] is failing to disclose are the terms of his rental agreement. In that agreement, Mr. [redacted] agreed to hold our company harmless-that we could not be liable for his belongings. He was storing at his own risk. This is the standard agreement in the self-storage industry.Mr. [redacted] also agreed to the stipulation in our rental agreement to not store any property exceeding more than $5,000 worth of value. He is claiming nearly $13,000 in damages.Mr. [redacted] assumed that his insurance would cover his rodent damage, but it does not. Again, this restriction is quite common in our industry. A typical homeowner's insurance policy does not cover rodent and pest damage either.Like all self-storage facilities, Otay Crossing Self Storage is not immune to the possibility of having rodent or pest issues from time to time. It is impossible to prevent all of our customers from bringing pests into the facility with their belongings. To combat this, we responsibly hire a reputable pest control company to try and mitigate this threat. Our Company is locally owned and operated. We actively support many local charities including the San Diego Food Bank and Toys for Tots. Our company has been voted the best storage company for three years in a row by the readers of the San Diego Union Tribune. Our [redacted] and [redacted]+ reviews are almost always [redacted]. We are not some unresponsive, charlatan organization. We treat are customers with respect and we are here for the long haul. While we are very sympathetic to the situation which Mr. [redacted] finds himself in, we are going to live by the terms of the written agreement that we made and we expect he will do the same.
