Hired Outhouse Plumbing to change over two outside faucets. The owner/operator came and did the work. Walked back and forth to his truck about 6-8 times grabbing one tool at a time and the job took an hour and 20 minutes, charged me 2 hours @ $90 an hour. (totally fluffed it up to 2 hours of work) I didn't even have a problem with that until I tried the faucets. The volume on them appears significantly decreased by about 30%. I called him back to come check it out and his big explanation was "well I'm not an engineer". (he is a plumber though, right????) He claimed that this was all he had and it was the newest and greatest. I asked several times if he could get something else and he continued to blame his supply house. Three weeks later he finally got new faucets and came over to change them. I told him I would give him 50$ for his time to swap his parts out, he said $75 cash. He showed up with an invoice already printed out for $50. I didn't have cash on me, he wouldn't accept a check as he did the first time, packed his stuff and left without fixing the problem.Product_Or_Service: plumbingDesired SettlementI want my faucets replaced with something that has a higher flow rate closer to what I had prior to Outhouse swapping the faucets. I do not want Outhouse Plumbing anywhere near or in my house. Outhouse can pay half of the cost of me calling another plumber. Business Response Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Wow, if only Outhouse Plumbing could have expressed himself so eloquently the second time he returned to my house rather than tell me it worked fine, tried avoid responsibility and give wise excuses such as "he wasn't an engineer". First of all I never asked for an upfront price because I knew it was a simple job and I knew it wouldn't be outrageous. (I'm a handy person who isn't afraid to tackle light electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, tiling ect. The reason I hired a plumber is that I don't have a blow torch to solder the pipes and I wanted the job done correctly.) Even after the work was done I did not complain about the price and understood that his liberal time keeping was just a cost of business. I did take specific note of his arrival time as it was "on time" and the time he left being an hour and 20 minutes later because I noticed on the bill that I was charged for the full 2 hours when I clearly remember him making multiple trips back and forth to his vehicle with one items in his hand here, one item there ect ect. The problem arises when the product installed dosent work! Outhouse Plumbing says he "gave a discount because it went so well" just curious how he calculated a $32 discount off of his "set" price of $250. On his second trip he was rude and clearly just fishing for a way out of fixing the product. He told me he couldn't get any other product and would then stand there in silence as if I was going to tell him it was OK and I didn't want it fixed. Further explanation in [redacted] response to the Revdex.com sounds good but is irrelevant. He states information about shower heads which is completely different from an outdoor sillcock/faucet. He further states that "full port sillcocks will be phased out" Will they? When? Gasoline powered cars will also be "phased out".... eventually. He claims he has no responsibility because it a Ma Plumbers Assoc approved product. I would contend that quality Sillcocks are also on the approved list just like the new product he located to reinstall on his 3rd visit. He does now admit in his response that his product has a "rded flow rate". Outhouse claims that without a flow test we cant be sure that the water volume dropped 30%. I believe we can tell. I believe that when I was able to use my hose to spray water halfway into my yard prior to the replacement and now I'm lucky if the water makes it 20 ft as proof that the product is faulted. I believe the blatant difference is evidence of that. [redacted] did not "Offer" to do a flow test but demanded it upon arrival the 3rd time. I did not have a problem with this. Throughout the 2nd and 3rd visit Outhouse Plumbing continued to explain to me that there was no way to be able to determine different flow rates with different sillcocks. He continually guaranteed nothing. His return price of $75 was never agreed upon. I told him that I would absolutely not be giving him another $218 but I would give him $50 for his time. Outhouse Plumbing gladly accepted a check for his initially service and refused on his return trip. I was not going to pay cash and have no record of his work after the difficulty with his service. After approximately 3-4 weeks of waiting on Outhouse Plumbing to respond letting me know he had a sillcock/faucet that would be better I received no response. Only after I called him and left a message, did I receive a return phone call. I would be interested to know what took so long in responding when there are multiple "plumbing supply houses" in the area and even a [redacted] and a [redacted] Outhouse Plumbing claims no responsibility as his parts are MA Plumber Approved. I think that if Outhouse Plumbing wants to install product that is significantly different from what is being replaced he should be advising the consumer that "this sillcock will hive a significantly lower flow rate" rather than just install cheap parts and collect his $90-110 an hour. (I get the $110 an hr from his initial calculation before his "discount" after the job "went so well") His return phone call should not have taken over a month and only prompted by my phone call. Clearly this isn't about the money If I am willing to spend another $200+ to install quality product from a different, more reputable plumber.
