Overhead Door Company of Stockton, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: Enclosed please see copies of Overhead Door and paper showing 2 paid -6-4-2014- $934.00.

(Approx) 2 weeks after the garage door installed bolts flew off and I called and service man came out and fixed and I told him the terrible noise (real loud) when it opened and closed. He sprayed something on it and left and I called several times and my 34 year old grandson called once. It appeared to have a mind of its own. Many times it would not open at all. If I played around with the opener, I could make it work- twice in the last six months. I went to “[redacted]” for new batteries thinking it might be my opener. About 8 weeks ago I called and talked to the Mgr and I said could you please come out and look at it check it out. He never called me back.

Last Fri 5:00PM I came home and garage door opened 2 to 3 inches. Then it came down and would open again 6 to 8”. I have a key to my court yard and sliding glass door. I came in and called Over head door, they do not work Fri, Sat, or Sun and I left message.

I’m 81 yrs old, live alone and I feel safer when my car is parked inside and in…..

Backside of 1st page (I didn’t want to leave my car outside Fri, Sat, & Sun. this is Stockton, a lot of crime & home broken into, plus I paid $75,000 for my [redacted]).

2nd page……. case of an emergency, I can get out at night if I am ill. I called another Co. They came out within 20 minutes and I let him in my home and we went inside the garage. The 4x4 button you touch to open garage door didn’t work, he opened it manually and he looked up at the garage ceiling and he said the motor where the chain moved, into nothing but plastic, the cheapest one he’s ever seen, also not repairable. I told him do what ever it takes, I need to feel safe in my own home. He had to replace ALL except that garage door.

So I pay another $1,000.00 it included 2 new openers and a life time warranty.

Mon AM I drove down to Stockton overhead door in person and complained, I told him who I was, he refused to give me his name. He said I was stupid to pay for another garage opener and he came towards me behind the counter like to attack me and I got my cell and I said “I call the police”. He treated me very rude. He was nasty and held the door open and he said for me to leave and he had the receptionist call the Sheriff and he yelled ill not give you back any money at all-

I told him his equipment motor and all was on my garage floor and it was under warranty and I should get back part of my money. I told him how S[redacted]y he has treated me!!

When I got home, I called another “[redacted]” he said none are connected at all, completely separate and hat this one on Shaw Road in Stockton is the most unreliable one in Stockton. He was very helpful and gave all info to report him to the State license Board in Sacramento at 9821 Business Park Drive, Sacto, CA, 95827.

I feel like calling Channel 3 and writing an article in the [redacted]; but I’m afraid he would sue me for slander.

I’ve talked to other people that have worked for their company and they have all quit because he was so nasty.

Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: Many times it would not open at all.... I called and talked to the Mgr and I said could you please come out and look at it check it out. We dispute everything the customer is saying in her complaint except for the fact that she paid us $ 934.00 to replace her existing garage door and opener. She had a 10 year limited warranty on her motor and 1 year limited warranty on parts, labor, & accessories. On 6/4/15 we replaced her existing garage door and opener. On 6/25/15 she contacted us telling us that the door wouldn't go down. Our service technician went out there and found that she had the vacation lock button activated on her wall console and that her safety sensors were out of alignment from her bumping into one of them while she was sweeping the garage. Our warranties are limited because if the problem(s) are caused by the homeowner then we have a right to charge the homeowner our standard service fee. We didn't charge the customer for the call. On 8/4/15 she contacted us stating that her door seemed a little noisy. Our technician stopped by and didn't find anything wrong with the door or opener. As a courtesy to the customer we went ahead and lubricated everything for her. Again, we had every right to charge her but we didn't. She's had subsequent issues with activating the vacation lock and knocking the sensors out of alignment that we were able to assist her over the phone without going out there. The customer has left us several harassing voice mails since we've installed her door and opener. We are considering filing a restraining order against her. We have voice mails saved from her stating that if she ever had any more problems she would contact another door company and that she wanted to part ways with us. After the customer overpaid for a new garage door opener which was her choice to purchase from [redacted], she came to our office to harass us and bully us into giving her money back. We didn't, she became very belligerent and we were forced to call the Sheriff. When she realized we were serious about the Sheriff showing up she drove off as quickly as she could. We filed a report with the Sheriff's Department. The customer's warranty for the garage door opener is now through [redacted]. She will need to contact them if she has any further issues.

I didn't harass or bull!!!over may 14, 2015Why is it , I could get out of my garage but could not get in. this happened several times! My other garage doors come from another co. not his. Never in 52 years have I had this problem.I left several voicemail requesting the manager or owner to please come out + ck out. Their service is poor, Mon-Thur only. Not even a phone call from him.

Review: The tech that fixed the door called into the office, maybe because I was paying with BofA visa card. When he got off of the phone he told me $95. A couple hours later the same day I got a call from a lady from Overhead Doors. She said that they was going to charge another $55 for fixing the door because the tech was new and he forgot to charge me for the part. I tried to settle the problem over the phone like this paper said to do with the owner or manager. I talked to a guy by the name of [redacted]. He was mad because I had [redacted] to come out to tell me how much it was going to cost me to get it fixed. [redacted] charged me $19 to tell me what was wrong with it which they were wrong. Overhead ([redacted]) said $95 which he failed to tell me that the service call included some time toward trying to fix it.Desired Settlement: Not to charge me the extra $55 I had already signed the receipt for $95. When I asked him for a copy of my receipt he told me that they would send it to me or email.

Business' Initial Response

Customer called in service call on Monday 6/17/13. She had called in the previous week for service but when she found out that we charge $ 80.00 an hour + parts, she called around to price shop and found a cheaper company. The other door company's technician told the customer that she needed a new motor and to contact our company because we were the originally company that installed the product. The customer told me all of this when she called in to have us come out. Since it takes longer to replace a motor I told her that the service charge would be $ 95.00 instead of the standard $ 80.00. I told her that she wouldn't be charged for the cost of the motor since the motor had a 10 year warranty and it had been less then 10 years since we installed it. She was ok with all of that so we sent our technician out there to replace the motor. However, our technician found that it was her circuit board that needed to be replaced, not her motor. The circuit board is considered a part and comes with a 1 year warranty. It had been over a year since the unit was installed so the customer would have to pay us for the part. The cost of the part is $ 70.00. We charged the customer $ 80.00 for the service call + $ 70.00 for the part for a total of $ 150.00. If the customer would've just went with our company to begin with she would've saved herself time and money. We will not credit the customer the $ 55.00 she is asking for or $ 70.00 that she might potentially ask for because we installed the part and it's working.
