Overhead Door Company of Torrington Reviews (2)

Review: ordered garage door for my newly built shed on 11/11/2014 sales person took the measurements of the opening and told me it was a special size and would take 2 weeks to get in I sign the paper work to proceed with the order and delivered a check to the company on 11/12/2014 in the amount of $ 350:00 check #[redacted] after 2 weeks had gone by 11/25/2014 I called the company Overhead Door of Torrington and asked were is the door they say " it's on back order" and will call when it comes in , on 12/04/2014 another call from [redacted] I call again and left message for [redacted] to call me with and update , return message left on my cell " it still on back order . I stop down to the store Overhead Door of Torrington and spoke with the lady at the counter ,12/10/2014 she looks up the order and can not tell me why it has taken this long . so I wait a few more days to see what happens I place another call to the company store on 12/12/2014 to cancel the order and I would be going some were else I get this call from the head man [redacted] from what I can make on my cell phone , I call back on 12/12/2014 and speak to [redacted] tells me the order got lost and fell thru the cracks but he can have the door in hand by 12/22/2014 I asked [redacted] if he would put that in writing and he said NO I stated I wanted a refund of the deposit and would be down on Saturday mid morning , then he calls my cell phone and leaves a message that he has to leave and what time he thinks he will be back I had been sick with the flue all week and just stayed in bed . I called the store Monday morning and spoke to a lady and asked her if [redacted] was in , she said not at this time and I asked her for him to call me today 12/15/2014 . AT 3:30 PM I stopped in at the store and asked If [redacted] was in , the lady told me that he was not expected in today at all , why couldn't she just tell me that on the phone , so I TOLD HER TO TELL [redacted] TO MAIL ME A CHECK TO MY HOUSE FOR THE REFUND . MY ADDRESS IS ON THE CONTRACT.

just to let it be known I told [redacted] on Friday 12/14/2014 that was purchasing a door from another company in [redacted] Connecticut . and again all he has to do is put the check in the mail , I live 5 miles from the store/ showroom.

ALSO NOTED THAT WHEN I LOOKED UP THE COMPANY ON THE NET IT IS LISTED AS AS OVERHEAD DOOR COMPANY OF TORRINGTON BUT YET THE CONTRACT IS FROM '' [redacted] AT THE SAME ADDRESS IN TORRINGTON.Desired Settlement: REFUND CHECK NOT AS OF 12/15/2014

Response:

First off, I want to make it clear a check has been cut in the amount of Three Hundred Fifty ($ 350.00) Dollars and mailed as of this morning December 16,th, 2014 To Mr. [redacted] @ [redacted] Check # [redacted] per [redacted]. Unfortunatly the order did fall through the cracks with the manufacturer and to compound it further the Thanksgiving holiday and the deer hunting season all related to a slow down of this order, plus the fact it was a specialty size door. Certainly not intentional. It was an error and something that I didn't forsee. I did offer to put a temporary door in place at no extra charge till the proper one arrived, that was not acceptable to Mr. [redacted]. He made it very clear he wanted what he ordered, and he wanted it now. I told him the door was "suppose" to arrive on Monday December 22nd, 2014 and that I would put it in that day providing it was here. The word "supposedly" was used regarding the delivery of Monday December 22nd, 2014, and that was not acceptble on his terms. I then said to him I'm trying for you, but if you are uncomfortable with what I'm saying then I will return your deposit. As far as the check being returned he stated to me he would be down Saturday morning to retrieve his deposit, that he had made a decision to go with some one else. I did call him on Saturday morning to let him know I would be out of the office from roughly 08:30 A.M. hours till about 09:30 A.M. hours and that I would be here until 11:30 A.M. hours. The reason I called him and left the message on his voice mail was so that he would not make a wasted trip. Nothing was never mentioned about mailing the check, it was understood he would stop down here Satruday December 13th, 2014 and pick up his deposit. I had to go to The [redacted] Water Company where my employees were installing a door to make sure the work was being performed per required specifications. Monday, I was not availble the whole day, I was at The [redacted] Hospital in [redacted], Conn. the entire day. My secrtary did report to me this morning stating that Mr. [redacted] did stop by yesterday (Monday) December 15th, 2014 and wanted the deposit mailed back to him. That process has been taken care of. As stated the door is "supposedly" to arrive here on Monday December 22nd, 2014. I was unalble to cancel the order, so I will have it available in my inventory. Rarely does a comedy of errors like this occur, I take this seriously. I do extend an apology, which I had already verbalized to Mr. [redacted]. I was totally unaware he was sick with the flu and just for the record, I was unaware I was to mail the refund deposit check back to him until this morning when I spoke with my secretary, and until I saw this Revdex.com complaint, which I am not very please about. Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

Review: I was originally quoted $ 749 installed for a new door, plus a fee of $ 80 for two windows and $ 25 for the disposal of the old door. I was subsequently billed $ 829 for the door and $ 125 for Labor to install. I called the company on July 3 and was told the salesman was not in and to call back after the weekend. I called again on the morning July 8 or 9th and was told that they took the labor out of the door cost and billed it separately to save me money on taxes and that the salesman ([redacted]) would take a look at the bill and call me back that afternoon. He never called back so I called again on the morning of Friday July 12 and he ([redacted]) told me he would pull the paperwork and call me back that afternoon. He did not call back until shortly before noon on Monday, July 15 and his story changed with him now saying that he quoted me $ 849 for the door, installed.
