Wow! How do you begin a customer review for a most excellent piano tuner & repairman. Mr. Owen tuned my old maplewood piano & did a fine job. I asked him about refurbishing the piano to bring it back to its original performance. He was very honest & explained that as it was an old piano, I would not likely be able to recover the cost if I sold it. I said I would not sell it, but would like to do whatever work would bring it back to its original condition. He recommended replacing the felts, & the base strings. [He returned several times after the new base strings were installed to tighten them as it takes a few times for the new ones to hold their position. He explained that replacing the worn felts would change the sound of the piano. I admit that it did change the sound of the piano, but definitely for the better. I also asked him about replacing the tops of the “ivories”. I have spent many hours with that piano as have some of my children, one of my son-in-laws, & grandchildren, & a few students. The piano is a lovely old style & has been performing for about 100 years. I believe the maplewood gives it a very nice sound—but that is only my opinion. Owen carefully explained each step of the refurbishing & did a fine job. He answered questions & concerns in a way I found easy to understand. He is not a piano repairman, but a piano craftsman. Oh, & he is punctual!!!!!
