Response to the Revdex.com letter dated November 10, 2015: *** ***' account of her experience with my office is entirely inaccurate. She had a follappoinment for October 8, 2015. On October 6, our office explained to her she was now out of network with her new
insurance. *** explained to Ms*** that I would, of course, still treat her, but that she would be out of network and responsible for her bill. Ms*** canceled her October 8, appointment. After a converstation with my staff, there is no record of unanswered voicemail's. Neither my nurse or medical assistant ever received a voicemail or had a conversation with her following her canceled appointment. The allegation that she "can't get past the reception desk" is false. There is a phone tree that allows all callers to bypass the front desk and go directly to any and all departments in my office. The allegation that we refused to give her her medical records is preposterous-she, of course, has every legal right to her records and we provide these to patients on a daily basis. We received a letter from *** days after the appointment was canceled. The letter was dated 10/12/but was received several days after that. The letter stated "Approved: Transition of care for Dr*** ***." Unfortunately, this is meaningless, as we have no contract with *** and we would still be out of network. In the past, even with these sorts of letters from the insurance companies, the insurance company typically does not pay our clinic since we have no contract with them and are out of network with them. As an aside, the letter, which was addressed to Ms***, encouraged her to see a healthcare provider who was in her network and, in fact, directed her to the website where she could find a provider who was in her network. My nurse called Ms*** on Friday, 11/20/and, once again, told her that I am happy and willing to treat her. She was offered an appointment for Monday, 11/23/but was told that she would still be out of network. Ms*** launched into a obscenity laced verbal attack on my nurse and told her she was seeing another doctor now. We understand it is difficult for patients when they find themselves out of network. Unfortunately, this is an issue for the patient, her employer and her insurance company to sort through. We have no control over this, although, we frequently bear the brunt of the patient's frustration.
