OZ Moving & Storage, Inc. Reviews (7)

This claim has been settled as of this morning.

Review: My wife and I just moved from Manhattan to Las Vegas and contracted with Oz Moving Company. We paid almost $1000 for professional packers. When the items arrived to our new residence there were many problems. An antique chair was broken. The chair was only wrapped in blankets, after we were told that it would be packaged to protect it. The wood arm broke as well as an ornate piece on the bottom. Another modern chair was also chipped due to not being packaged well. A bottle of shampoo was put into a box with our vacuum and subsequently exploded all over it. Many items were packaged in this manner and not at all packed professionally. Many of the boxes were bent and not at all labeled correctly. Lastly, 2 lamp shades were shredded on the inside due to poor packing. We trusted Oz's "professional packers" with this job and paid for this "expertise" which we feel we did not receive. We left multiple phone calls for Oz and did not receive a call back.Desired Settlement: We at the very least deserve the amount that was paid for "professional packers" be reimbursed. Not to mention in New York my wife gave an additional $600 in gratuities to these workers. It would be impossible to decipher who the "problem packers" were, but at least we should be financially compensated by Oz for this clear breach in professionalism.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have not been financially compensated for the repairs to the chairs as well as the vacuum. I spoke with their representative, Allison, on Friday. She said she forwarded the photos to HR who would be in servicing the professional packers. She claimed that the most they would give us is $500.00 (which to date we have not received). $500.00 does not even pay for the repairs and the insurance we took out has a $1000.00 deductible. Had OZ Moving Company not incorrectly packed the belongings in the first place, we would not be having to deal with insurance and repairs. We would like, at the very least, for OZ to refund us the money for the packing job. We paid for what was supposed to be "professional packers" and this did not happen.

Sincerely,

Business

The check was reissued to the client on October **, however, it as well has yet to clear and has not been returned to us by the postal service. Customer received the $500 check mailed to the same address. I understand the client is not satisfied with the outcome, however, she was paid in full for her claim based on the valuation option selected. No further refunds or credits will be issued. Review: This company has called our business repeatedly over the last several months, despite our office staff making repeated requests NOT TO CONTINUE CALLING US. We stated over and over we have absolutely no intention of moving - we never have and we don't know why they keep calling us. We left a message on their website under their Contact Us tab. Nothing has gotten through to this company. It is now harassment.Desired Settlement: Just leave us alone - take us off their cold call list, or whatever list they have.

Response:

We are terribly sorry for any inconvenience. I have advised all sales employees to cease calling your business. Although there should be NO further contact, please contact me directly in the event of a future issue.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Review: Hired Oz to move boxes from [redacted] to [redacted]. When the delivery came, one of the boxes (which also happened to contain around $2000 custom PC equipment) did not arrive. Called the company and they claimed the box was lost. I asked them to track it down. Apparently they had sealed the trailer which had my boxes on there, the trailer went straight to ** and when they opened the trailer, the box was not in there. Doesn't make sense, asked Oz to check everything but all they can tell me is that it is "lost" and they have no other explanation.Desired Settlement: I want my PC equipment to be delivered to me.

Response:

We are unable to locate [redacted] box. However, we are aware the item has been reported missing and will return the box to [redacted] in the event it is located. In the interim, we have paid [redacted]'s claim based on the declared valuation.

Review: I used Oz Moving and Storage for my move from Encino, CA to New York, NY. The movers in California came to my home smelling of marijuana. After all of my belongings were delivered to my NYC apartment I checked everything off the inventory list that they filled out and gave me, noticing that I had everything checked off except for the 3 items they damaged beyond recognition and repair, I signed off on the list and let them go. 2 days later I noticed one of my boxes was missing because it was never put on the "official" inventory list and therefore never accounted for. After calling their customer service center to see if they have an extra box hanging out in their warehouse, they told me that it was nowhere to be found and I would not get anything for the missing items because their movers never put it on the "official" inventory. I was moving out of a 1 bedroom apartment into another 1 bedroom apartment, so there weren't many boxes to have missed. It was 500 square feet of boxes and furniture.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive money for the items that were in the box. I have calculated how much that box was worth and it's $160 and that doesn't even count the shipping that will be needed to replace some of the items since some of the items can only be ordered on company websites. Dear [redacted]:

In response to the letter received today, please be advised [redacted] (a.k.a. [redacted])is the client of the California corporation Oz Moving & Storage California, Inc.,and her complaint should be lodged against them with the Revdex.com of Los Angeles of which they are a member. Subsequently, the complaint should be removed from our record in New York.

[redacted]'s complaint of a missing box has been received and she is in receipt of a claim form. Upon return of the claim form, her claim will be processed, as by Federal Law, all claims must be submitted in writing. As indicated in her letter, she did not declare a box missing at delivery, and according to the delivery records all goods were received. However, in the event a box belonging to [redacted] Is recovered, she will be contacted immediately.

Her allegation the movers in CA were intoxicated was never previously mentioned.

Thank you,

Consumer

[Your Answer Here]

I am noticing that the rebuttal to my complaint was a duplicate and I am still not satisfied with the response. I have already filed a complaint with the California Oz Moving & Storage subsidiary but would like to keep going with this Revdex.com complaint, since the customer service for this company, both NY and CA subsidiaries, is the same. I believe both need to be reported for poor service and inability to deliver people’s belongs without problems. I would like the replacement costs for my missing and destroyed items.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

We have issued payment to [redacted] based on her insurance election and consider this matter closed. We do not believe the box was stolen as alleged. The document [redacted] was asked to sign Is a legally binding document with a large WARNING printed at the bottom. This document has a purpose; it confirms the items we removed from Point A were delivered to Point B, and in the event this is not the case, any exception at delivery is to be documented. The goods are checked at every point they change hands, and at NO point was a box missing from the inventory, For all we know, the box in question was never part of the shipment.

We a re not denying a commonality between Oz in NY and Oz is CA. They a re two separate entities and your issue is with the CA entity and your complaint should be correctly recorded.

Please contact me should you require any further information.

Sincerely,

We moved from NY to NJ with Oz Moving & Storage and we had the worst experience. Our movers were slow, and they ripped our leather couch when they sliced a knife through it to open it and place in our new home. We called Oz Movers to see if they would pay for the repair, and they said absolutely not. The wouldn't even give us the amount of money to repair the rip. They have the worst customer service, and there staff is very RUDE. We were unhappy and not satisfied with our move. I would never recommend this company.

Review: In August of 2010 I moved from ** to [redacted] After extensive research I decided on Oz Moving and Storage. The experience was surperb. They were on time, they were professional and my items arrived in [redacted] on time and in good condition. In August of 2014 I decided to move back to ** from [redacted] and decided to use Oz Moving and Storage again because they were so wonderful the first time. The crew that picked up and packed up my apartment in [redacted] were excellent. The crew that arrived in [redacted] to drop off my items were just as good; however when the foreman introduced himself to me, his first sentence was "I just want you to know, me and my crew were not responsible for packing your items". Not blinking an eye I said no problem.

An hour into the delivery, I was called outside to be shown a table that was broken. The two legs were completly broken off and I was told that this was reported to their headquarters and that they had someone that fixes broken items. After the last box was delivered and my final payment was made I began to unpack the rest of my boxes. When I approached the box that said "Kitchen dishes - fragile" I noticed that it was taped up with brown tape and the condition of the box was terrible. I took a phot of the box before I opened it. Inside several dishes were broken, several wine glasses and serving pieces. I have taken photos of all items.

When it was time for me to unpack the large pictures that Oz Moving packed in Calilfornia, I then noticed that every frame was broken. The frames are large and each one is damaged in a way that indicates it was involved in a fall or a drop from a high height.

When I submitted my claim to Oz along with the photos and my disgust, I was informed that because I did not take out additional insurance, I would receive a refund of .6 cents per broken pound. My claim is for $305 since my frames were quite large and expensive, but my refund is estimated at $40.Desired Settlement: I am being considerate in my estimate and I have been kind and patient when dealing with the young girl in the claims department. I understand things get broken in a cross country move, but to have so many items broken in such a way is disturbing. I am not asking for $1000. I am asking for $305 so that I can buy new frames for the pictures I would like to hang in my new apartment.
