Complete scam
Paid $1400 for my teenage daughter to go here for disordered eating issues. He was supposed to design a personalized program for her, but I discovered after she had driven there several times (over an hour from college) that he was just putting her in a reclining chair with headphones and a recording. Obviously it didn't work for her. Some days she didn't even see Dan Vitchoff. He has a no refund policy because he knows it's not going to work for you. We DID get our money back because Dan misrepresented his services and his credentials as well and I was going to take him to small claims court if we didn't get a refund.

RE: Response to PA Hypnosis Letter (May 2015)Dear Ms ***This complaint is not resolved. PA Hypnosis Center is not being honest or factual about the services they “sell” and the services that were received. In their letter, PA Hypnosis claims they go, “above and beyond the call of duty” but I am just looking for them to provide the services they promised me when they took my money. PA Hypnosis is offering me “free” services as a way of resolving my complaints but I still have sessions left that I purchased from them. However, when I called them last fall after my last appointment to try to come up with a solution; they never responded to my calls or emails until I got Revdex.com involved. Why would I ever trust them with sessions now? The trust that is required between a customer and a hypnotherapist was lost when they refused to recognize my very civil and communication attempts last fall before I placed a complaint with the Revdex.com.When I called to setup my first consultation with *** *** I was told the package price would be $499. However, once I got to the consultation with Mr *** that lasted 30-minutes, he quoted me $799. I questioned the price and explained they told me a different amount before I agreed to the free consultation. They agreed to do the lower amount which I was quoted over the phone and I agreed to try his services. He then quickly took me to the front counter to make a payment before my first “session.” I never met with *** after that free consultation other than the occasional 1-minute time periods. Mr *** never once shared with me that the sessions were not with a live person, that they were tape recordings and he never once admitted that the “*** ***” hypnosis chair that he brags about in the consultation and asks you to sit in would never been seen again (instead you sit in an old lazy boy chair in a dark room). This complaint is not resolved. PA Hypnosis should be held accountable for their deceptive sales tactics. Any professional with “therapist” in a title should be a person who can be trusted and held to higher standards than what this company is giving their customers. Thank you, *** ***l

consultation and evaluation in our office on November 5, 2014. After her consultation, we recdmmended sheparticipate in a program that would include 7 sessions and 2 follow ups at the discounted rate of $799. Ms. [redacted]explained that she wanted to start with the 3 session program and paid $399 toward her program which includes 3sessions and 2 free follow ups. We explained that we have patented and trademarked a specific type of hypnosisknown as the 33 Method that incorporates technology into our sessions. We also explained that because we wouldprepare Ms. [redacted]’s program in advance or policy is that no refunds will be given. We have attached a copy of thissigned success guarantee that outlines this policy. When Ms. [redacted] came in for her sessions we did our best toaccommodate her schedule and get her in as close to her appointment time as possible. Sometimes we do get delayedbecause of the nature of our business, when you are providing a Professional Service you are at the mercy of when yourclients arrive for their sessions and when our clients arrive late sometimes it pushes back our schedule. We alsoattempt to spend as much time with each client as they need so if a client needs more time with us sometimes that willcause a delay as well. Ms. [redacted] attended all three of her sessions but was in a hurry and had somewhere she needed tobe so we did not have the opportunity to spend extra time with her. She also provided us with a list of adjustments thatshe wanted us to make and we did our best to incorporate those into her program.Ms. [redacted] is not eligible for a refund because she did attend all of her sessions, however, we would be more than happyto provide additional sessions to her at no charge and make adjustments to help her reach her goals. Please call our office at ###-###-#### if you have any questions or need additional information.

Dear Ms. [redacted],This response is in regards to complaint ID [redacted]. We are very disheartened that Ms. [redacted]l continues to dispute our responses instead of contacting our office directly to resolve her complaints. We have done everything within our power to resolve her complaints. As previously stated, we take a great deal of time with each prospective client in our consultation to explain to them what hypnosis is and is not, how we can help and answer all of their questions. We also gather the information necessary to design the program so that it is effective for them. We explain our methods and techniques. What makes our methods and techniques unique and effective and outline the points that we are going to address during the sessions, such as night time eating stress eating, etc. as it related to each client. Ms, [redacted]l's case was no different. We explained everything to her during the consultation. We attempted to the best of curability to provide the service that she paid for despite hertime constraints due to her demanding schedule, Ms. [redacted]t asked us to make adjustments to her program; once again, we made adjustments to attempt to accommodate her requests to the best of our ability. We also offered Ms. [redacted]l additional sessions at no extra charge even though she did not purchase the program that we recommended for her,The service that we offer is a Professional Service, we have helped thousands of people reach their goals and improve their lives with hypnosis throughout our 10 years in business. We provided the same professional service to Ms. [redacted]l that we have provided to so many satisfied clients. Unfortunately, Ms. [redacted]l did not give our program a fair and ample time and opportunity to work for her. We are more than happy to continue to provide this service at no additional charge and continue to make adjustments to help her reach her goals, however, she is not eligible for a refund. We have already submitted a copy of the signed receipt stating that she was aware of our policy that no refund will be given. If you need us to re-submit this please let us know. Please encourage Ms. [redacted]l to contact our office directly to schedule an appointment to come into our office so that we can re-evaluate her program and make the necessary adjustments to help her reach her goals. We sincerely hope that she will re-consider and decide to continue her program and let us help her reach her goals with hypnosis.Sincerely,PA Hypnosis Center

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear [redacted]ow.
Hi [redacted], Thank you for your quick response!  I was not aware that PA Hypnosis ever responded to you guys (I did not get an email from the Revdex.com to go online to read the response from PA Hypnosis).  However, once I received the letter over the weekend I responded to you guys immediately.    I do NOT consider the complaint with PA Hypnosis to resolved and was very sad to read their response to the Revdex.com as it was completely inaccurate and based on information that was not factual.  Please see my response [redacted]ow (regarding the sentence #'s in the response letter from PA Hypnosis):Sentence 2:  Why are they now so disheartened?   Before I ever thought to place a complaint with the Revdex.com I calmly and professionally shared my concerns in person, via email, phone conversation with staff (I was promised a return call) and also via a voicemail to the office but they never responded to me at all.  They completely disregarded my attempt to talk through these concerns in a professional manner without even the decency of a return phone call.   This complete lack of response from them indicated to me that they had no desire to better the situation at that time. Sentence 5:   I only had three sessions with PA Hypnosis at the time I shared my concerns about the "lack of a presence from a live person in my sessions."  I still had two "free" follow-up appointments remaining that were a part of the $399 package I had purchased.  But PA Hypnosis refused to return my call to schedule them and never responded to my email.  When I did finally get a hold of the office to speak to a real person, I was promised a phone call back but never heard back from anyone.  At the time this all occurred, I would have been open to additional treatments but due to their lack of response and inaccuracy of facts in their response to the Revdex.com I would not trust their services again, even if there was no cost to me.  I have lost any trust I once had in this business that would be required with any patient-hypnotherapist relationship.Sentence 6:  PA Hypnosis did share with me that they had a patented and trademarked a specific type of hypnosis (this is the information they share to real you in as a new customer, their presentation is very impressive talking about their relationship with [redacted] and fancy hypnosis chairs they designed) BUT THEY NEVER INFORMED ME that the ACTUAL SERVICE would be with no real human being, that the sessions were from a recording in a room with no "fancy hypnosis chair" they have you sit in during the consultation.  This is a complete misrepresentation of their services and this should be illegal.  I feel so taken advantage of and cannot [redacted]ieve they can get away with this.  Sentence 7: It is true, I did sign a waiver that there would be no refund because they planned my sessions in advance.  Once again, this signified to me I would be meeting with a live person; not a tape recording.  Also, I had the same session for my second and third visit and they did not even realize I listened to the same recording.  There was nothing personalized about this service.  I did not get the service I was lead to [redacted]ieve I would receive therefore I [redacted]ieve this "no refund waiver" should be dismissed.  Sentence 9:  This sentence is completely false. They did not try to accommodate my schedule at all.  They were an entire hour late everytime I arrived and they left me in the room after my session was completed for up to 20 minutes by myself just sitting there in a dark room.  They are completely lying about accommodating me.  They even called me on the day of my first session (when I had already driven 45 minutes from where I work/live) to cancel my appointment so I had to reschedule it.  Sentence 10: Not sure how the nature of their business causes delays when everything is pre-recorded!  The problem is not the nature of their business, the problem is, they clearly overbook themselves to make money on people who are desperate for hope. They are taking advantage of these people and I don't want them to be able to continue to do this to innocent people who work hard for the money they make and cannot afford to just throw $399 away on a service that is deceiving and unprofessional.Sentence 11:  Complete lie.  I never had the decency of additional time with a live person, even of the two visits where I was visibly in tears over the lack of service I received.  I don't have the personality to be confrontational so I was always professional in the way I carried myself but [redacted] saw me cry on two occasions when I left the "session" as I explained to him this was not what I had paid for.Sentence 12: PA Hypnosis stated in their response that they attempted to speak with me after the sessions but failed to do so as I was always in a hurry to leave.  Once again this is completely not true!  Since they were always an hour late to start my sessions, I did have to leave when the session was over but only because I had to return to my job.  I spoke to them every single time before I left and they never gave me an indication they wanted me to stay.  Honestly, I would have been thrilled if they gave me any hint that they cared that much, it would have meant a lot to me.   But that never happened. In fact, on two of my three visits, when the "pre-recorded" hypnosis cassette tape was over, I was left sitting in a dark room for 10, sometimes up to 30 minutes with no idea what to do so I just sat there.  I think they forgot I was in the room.  There was NEVER any attempt from anyone to keep me there longer or else I would have made accommodations for it as I invested $400 into this service and certainly wanted it to work. [redacted], I really appreciate your help with this complaint.  Please feel free to call me with any questions.  I look forward to hearing how you guys might be able to help.[redacted] :: ###-###-#### :* [redacted]

PA Hypnosis Center is a practice just like a lawyer has a practice, a dentist has a practice or a psychologist has a practice. If you go to the dentist and the visit does not completely remedy the issue, you pay for that visit If you need more visits you pay for the next visit. Your lawyer represents you and provides services and they do not prevail in your case, you pay for the services rendered. If you need more service you pay for more service, that’s why we call it a practice not perfect We go above and beyond the call of duty and we’re offering [redacted] services to come back to help her if she chooses so.We respectfully request that you close this complaint as resolved.Thank you for your considerationSincerely,[redacted] PA Hypnosis Center

As I am now also disputing this man and his business, I will keep this short and state all of the above has happened to me also. I went in for a consultation and was quickly charged and told I still owed more. He could not have had a personalized product, as I was only there for a consultation. He places you in a room - mostly alone - and leaves you with some goofy tape on. I tried numerous times in numerous ways to contact him on a refund to no avail. He is a ripp- off artist hiding behind his business. Time to call action 4 news.

Review: I went to see [redacted]. [redacted] in may of 2012. I spent about 30 minutes in his office explaining the issue that I wanted to work on. I told him that I wanted to stop my constant obsession with food. He reassured me that he could help. I went home and thought about it and decided to try three sessions. (He had recommended 6 sessions for $699, but when I spoke to his receptionist she told me that I could start with 3 for $300 and then add on sessions as needed and that I would still get the guarantee with free sessions if I needed them.) I went to three sessions with no luck, but when I spoke to [redacted] about it he told me that I needed the last three sessions. I paid the rest of the money only to have NO HELP AT ALL! I went to a total of 7 or 8 sessions over a year's time. What a huge waste of my money and my time. I was told by [redacted] that I would get results or that we would keep trying. When I went in for my last visit about two months ago, I tried to explain to [redacted] that I was not having any results and he told me that I was sabotaging myself by not eating before I went to dinner or a party. His guarantee is a joke. He should not be able to takes people's money saying there is a guarantee which there is not. I called and sent several messages over the past month with no return calls/emails. I want my money back. Making this report is my first step, the next is speaking to an attorney. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like the money I wasted returned to me.

Response:

The purpose of this letter is to dispute the complaint made by [redacted]. We are very disheartened and upset that Ms. [redacted] has chosen to take the actions that she has taken against our office. Ms [redacted] attended a free consultation and evaluation in our office on May 15, 2012. After her consultation, [redacted] recommended she participate in a program that would include 6 sessions and 2 follow ups at the discounted rate of $699. Ms. [redacted] explained that she was not able to pay $699 so she purchased 3 sessions and 2 follow ups instead. He explained that he would do the best he could with the number of sessions that she purchased and explained that he knew he would need more time to address everything that she asked him to address but he would try to prioritize what they discussed. Ms. [redacted]’s program included 3 sessions and 2 follow ups at the discounted rate of $399. During Ms. [redacted]’s program she indicated that she was making progress towards her goals not eating cookies or junk food. A short while later she mentioned she was struggling so [redacted] gave her additional sessions at no extra charge.

After several months on July 19th, 2013 Ms. [redacted] sent an email to our office requesting a refund and threatening to go to the Revdex.com, (email correspondence attached) On a personal note, I had been out medical leave so this was the first time I was informed that there had been an issue. I emailed Ms. [redacted] on Monday, July 22nd, 2013 and offered her the opportunity to come back in at no extra charge, let us make some adjustments to the program and help her reach her goals. She refused. In total, Ms. [redacted] attended 9 sessions in our office and only paid for 3 plus 2 follow ups.

Please call our office at [redacted] if you have any questions or need additional information.

Response:

The below email is a complete fabrication and they should be ashamed that they sent it to you. I did indeed purchase the 3 sessions with 2 follow ups for $200. It was $250, but I had a coupon for $50 off from the clipper magazine. I was told at that time that if I decided I wanted to purchase more sessions I could indeed do that and then the "guarantee" would be in effect. [redacted] was SO CONVINCED that he could help me which he did not. The first two sessions I felt like I may have had some small progress, but told him that it wasn't enough to notice and that I had not lost any weight or had any less desire to over eat. He suggested after my 5th sessions that I add the remaining sessions at a price of $199. I accepted with expectations that this was going to work. Again [redacted] had me convinced that me that I was making progress and that he was confident that the hypnotherapy was working.

I continued to drive 30 minutes each way for 4 more visits. When I went to my 9th visit I told [redacted] that I was very disappointed and angry that this did not work. He told me that he felt that I was "sabotaging my progress by not thinking positively." He also told me that I should eat before I attended a party or dinner to avoid over eating. I work in the medical field and understand how the body and mind works. Obviously my knowledge was not enough and that is why I wanted to try hypnotherapy . I was shocked at what [redacted] told me. I should have walked out then, but stayed for the last session. Trust me when I say that I was not offered another appointment for follow up and was not told I would be contacted. It was very clear that [redacted] could not help nor wanted to try to help me.

I spent $399 hard earned dollars on a scam! There was no personalized program like I was promised. I am making it my mission to tell as many people as I can this is a scam and to save their money. Why offer a guarantee when you just make it impossible to want to come back. Yep pretty much bullied me out of the office. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Response:

I have received 2nd notices for [redacted] and [redacted]. We regret that Ms.[redacted] and Ms.[redacted] do not feel that we have done enough to resolve their complaints, however we have offered for each of them to come in and continue their programs. Unfortunately, neither Ms. [redacted] or Ms. [redacted] are entitled to a refund. As stated in our previous responses, both Ms. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] were made aware of our no refund policy before they purchased their hypnosis programs. [redacted] offers therapeutic hypnotherapy services; as a professional service provider, Mr. [redacted] is well within his rights to offer a no refund policy which is posted clearly in our office and stated in print on all paperwork and credit card receipts given to our clients.

Please accept this as our final response in both of these complaints.

Thank you,

I had the same thing bappen. This doesn t work. There is no guarantee. I wish we could start a class action against this company. The only thing I lost was $500.Total ripoff. If you complain you are treated so rudely and offered more sessions. When I complained I was told to eat more vegetables and follow the plan.If I could do that, whats rhe point of hypnosis.

Review: This service doesnt work. I WAS told I would get additional sessions if I WAS not happy with the hypnosis. The "hypnosis" is him playing a CD with you having your eyes closed and it did absolutely nothing for me. I paid $400 plus the gas money I spent to get there for absolutely nothing. I don't make a lot of money and that $400 was spent to change my life and the only thing it did was waste my time with absolutely no product or service providedDesired Settlement: I'd like my $400 paid back asap

RE: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]

The purpose of this letter is to dispute the complaint made by, [redacted]. I would first like to mention that I was completely shocked to receive this complaint because Mr. [redacted] never indicated any concerns regarding his hypnosis programs, sessions or how the sessions were being conducted. Instead, he indicated that he was making progress towards his goals and had even talked about possibly having his fiance come in for us to help her stop smoking.

Mr. [redacted] attended a free consultation and evaluation in our office on July 13,2013. After his consultation he purchased 3 sessions and 2 follow ups for the disc ounted price of $399. Review: On Friday July 5, 2013 I had an appointment for a free consultation with the PA Hypnosis Center. At that point I purchased a package deal for $899. On Saturday July 6, 2013 I decided that this purchase was not for me and sent an email to the company requesting a cancellation. I have reached out to the PA Hypnosis center for a full refund through email contact (which I kept all of them) and by phone on numerous occasions. Each time they state they will talk to [redacted] (owner) and will get back to me. On July 19th they did offer to refund all of the money except for $249 for the design fee/consultation. I did respond back stating the consultation was free and didn't understand why I had to pay anything since I have not received any services. I am requesting your help in getting my refund. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I paid $899 and would like a full refund since no services have been provided.

RE: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]The purpose of this letter is to dispute the complaint made by [redacted]. On June 29, 2013 we received an email from [redacted] requesting information about our weight loss programs. We called her and explained that the first step would be a free consultation and evaluation in our office with [redacted] and after he spoke with her about what her goals were and the specific behaviors she was struggling with related to weight loss he would make a recommendation on which program would be the best fit for her and how many sessions would be appropriate for her to reach her goals.

Ms. [redacted] attended a free consultation and evaluation in our office on July 5,2013. After her consultation she purchased 8 sessions and 2 follow ups for the discounted price of $899. After Ms. [redacted] purchased her program we immediately began designing her individualized hypnosis program specifically for her. Her program cannot be used by another client because it was designed based on the information that we gathered during her consultation. This was explained to Ms. [redacted] at the time she purchased her program and she signed the Success Guarantee which states no refunds will be given.

She also signed the credit card slip that states no refunds will be given.

On July 6,2013 Ms. [redacted] sent us an email requesting a refund because her husband was extremely upset with her purchase. We responded on July 19th that her program had already been designed for her and we re-iterated our no refund policy. We also mentioned that in the event that we would make an exception to the policy she would be charged for the design of the program. We have in the past made exceptions when the person is physically unable to use the services due to a prolonged illness or circumstances beyond their control. We encouraged her to come in and participate in her program because it is here ready to go. We are a small business and we provide professional and therapeutic hypnosis services that are individualized for each client. We respectfully request that you close this complaint as being resolved.

I have attached copies of the signed success guarantee agreeing that no refunds will be given and the email correspondence. We welcome Mr. [redacted] the opportunity to come back in and allow us to help her reach her goals. Please call our office at ###-###-#### if you have any questjton^or need additional information.

Sincerely,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I thought I was allowed 3 days to cancel an agreement for services/transactions. Once I paid for this transaction and left that day I did not feel comfortable spending that amount of money for what they were offering and did not discuss this with my husband prior to purchasing. I notified them immediately of my decision and feel that I deserve a refund. At one point they were willing to refund me a portion of the money, but the receptionist was willing to talk with [redacted] about my concerns and request a full refund. Once that conversation took place I never heard back from them after numerous attempts by phone. I am strongly against doing this type of therapy and do feel I deserve a portion of this refund.

Response:

I have received 2nd notices for [redacted] and [redacted]. We regret that Ms. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] do not feel that we have done enough to resolve their complaints, however we have offered for each of them to come in and continue their programs.

Thank you,

Director of Operations

Review: I am like many people. I sought help for weight loss and stress management. I saw an advertisement for the PA Hypnosis Center and thought that it could be a successful plan for me. I went on the PA Hypnosis Center website and saw that there was a 98% success guarantee, a "So, sit back, relax, and let [redacted]’s voice do all of the work, and watch the pounds melt away." claim, and that [redacted] was a member of the [redacted]. Based on what I read, I scheduled an appointment with my daughter, [redacted] (see separate claim) and myself.

On 6/5/14, I consulted him for IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome due to stress) and weight loss. I paid $849.00 for 8 sessions. I attended over 13 sessions over 6 months. The results were 0% success. My stress has not lessened (I still have the IBS symptoms and I have not lost weight with his "program". When I tried, in person, on 2 or 3 separate occasions give him feedback regarding my progress, he would get defensive and suggest I try a different way of eating.

I was already purchasing foods from his list of “good” foods. All together, I attended his facility for 6 months, never arriving late, missing appointments, or rescheduling my appointments. For my first 7 or 8 sessions, I was ushered in for my appointments within 15 minutes each time. After I had reached my paid session limit, there were times I waited over 45 minutes and then still didn't even see him. His receptionist, [redacted] would put me in a room, put the "light glasses" on me and "tones" recordings on my ears, and at times I was actually forgotten about. Two or three times, I had to let myself out because no one would come in! At the expressions on their faces, they were shocked the one day when I exited the treatment room. They obviously had forgotten all about me being there.

On his website it states "[redacted], of Pittsburgh, PA, is a member in good standing with the [redacted]. His standing recognizes his ethics, hypnotism skills, and affiliation with Nationally and Internationally renowned professionals." My daughter, [redacted] (separate claim), contacted the [redacted] to see what his responsibilities and standards were to maintain such standing. [redacted] at the [redacted] informed her that he has not been a member for 2 years. What does this then say about his ethics and hypnotism skills if he continues to falsely represent himself? He promises unrealistic outcomes and will continue to do so until he is held accountable for his claims.Desired Settlement: Refund in full. $849.00

On 6/5/14, I consulted him for stress management and weight loss. I paid $749.00 for 7 sessions. I attended over 13 sessions over 6 months. The results were 0% success. My stress has not lessened (my dentist informed me at my last appointment in December 2014 that I am now grinding my teeth at night) and I have actually GAINED weight since starting his "program". When I tried, in person, on 2 separate occasions give him feedback regarding my progress, he would get angry - which made me extremely uncomfortable. All together, I attended his facility for 6 months, never arriving late, missing appointments, or rescheduling my appointments. She said that I should try a high protein yogurt. Are they a nutritional group or a hypnotherapy group? She also said that I should have seen some progress by then. She was not there when I called to schedule another appointment and I was informed that she is no longer with the facility. I have not been back since.
