Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/29) */
*** *** and all customers are informed at the time of scheduling for their service appointment that we have a $service feeOnce a diagnostic has been preformed we give a flat rate price for repairs at the time of initial service call
If the repair is authorized we perform the estimated service with the $service fee waved at the time of the initial service callif the work is not authorized the $service is collected at the time of the first service call then the total estimated repair would be collected after the estimated work was completedThe estimate work was sent off to *** *** at 2:August I was not contacted until a few days later with her concernsI stated to her at that time again that there is a $service feeIf *** *** finds what I said rude I am sorry as that's not my intent however our business practices do not changeThere is always a $service fee unless estimated service work is completed at time of service or we are bidding out on new furnace and Ac or replacement furnace and Ac with no diagnostics performedNot on small repair work
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/09/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
*** *** did in fact inform me of the $service fee, however he stated it would be applied to the service work that needed to be doneHe did not state anywhere in the conversation that it only applied if work done on the day of serviceWhen the tech came at 8:AM on 8/he spent minutes here total, not all of which was looking at work needed to be doneHe informed me that my furnace/hot water area was not in code and he did not have any of the equipment needed to do the workHe also did not inform me the $check I gave him was only good towards the work if done that dayHe told me that I would receive an estimate via email by the "end of the day"I went on with my day and when I returned home around 6PM that evening I did see the estimate from *** ***I do not agree to work being done until I have a written estimate
Since the work to be done was not an emergency, I got back to *** *** a few days later to schedule the workDuring that conversation I reviewed with him what was to be done and the price, to which he abruptly told me that the $was no longer going to be applied to the work as I did not have it done the day the tech came to my homeI explained to him that he never told me that and the free estimate on his business card was only for purchases of large equipmentI told him that was not on the card eitherI had agreed to the $90, thinking it was going towards the work to be done, so I did not go further with the free estimate printed on his business cardI tried to explain to *** *** that I was a retired senior on a limited income and $was a huge lossI was willing to have him do the work, so in all fairness I am still requesting at least $back
I did find a company who after hearing my issue with *** ***, agreed not to charge for an estimate, fixed the problem for $less than *** *** quoted and also informed me that the area containing my furnace and hot water heater was indeed in accordance with code, not out of codeAt the very least, I now know that there are honest people out there willing to make things right
As far as ruddiness, *** *** I am sure is aware of his phone skills representing his businessThe times I did call *** *** I was greeted with an abrupt helloI thought I had the wrong number as I am accustomed to a business identifying who they are when they answer their phoneHe was almost argumentative with me on the during our conversation on the phone
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/10/12) */
You contacted me one time since we were out at your property and give you an estimateFor me answering the phone with only a hello is incorrect I answer the phone every time I answer with Pace and sons mechanical if the caller does not answer with my greeting I then say hello both times you called I said pace and sons mechanical with no response from you I then said hello a couple times with each callThat not having any impact or relevancy on your complaint that I falsely advertised our price for service work order of $is ridiculous and incorrectHowever that being saidAs far as the other company completing the work up to code or not is not my concernwe complete and estimate all work up to building code for today's required standards
