In response to a complaint filed against my company, Davenport Glass Service Center, Inc. by Arthur W. [redacted] living at [redacted] Drive, [redacted], SC, 29302:
First, I refuse to allow the Revdex.com to edit this response in any...

form.
Second, Davenport Glass was established in 1977 and has always been in good standing with our customers and general contractors.
[redacted] contacted my company, Davenport Glass Service Center, on May 11, 2015 concerning a broken insulating glass unit in a window in his house.
We sent our employee, Mr. [redacted], who has over 50 years experience in glass and glazing, to Mr. [redacted] house.  Mr.  [redacted] showed Mr. [redacted] the broken insulating glass unit (IG).  Mr. [redacted] explained that the broken IG was a 5/8" clear tempered low-e insulating glass units. He observed that there was no sign of tinting or special coatings.  Mr. [redacted] made no mention of where the existing IG's were purchased, who had installed them, NOR did he present literature, bills of sale, or any other type of documentation that would show the brand of low-e coating used in his broken IG.
After the replacement IG that we installed had been in for a couple of weeks, Mr. [redacted] called and spoke with [redacted], a corporate officer with Davenport Glass, complaining that it was "hot" in front of the window which is on the front of his house and gets the direct mid-morning sun. She sent Mr. [redacted] to Mr. [redacted] house to look into the complaint.  Mr. [redacted] concluded that the IG was definitely clear with low-e and had been installed properly. Mr. [redacted] was very rude with Mr. [redacted] and threatened a lawsuit.
I, personally, requested a representative of the manufacturer to go to Mr. [redacted] house to verify that the replacement IG was, in fact, a clear IG with low-e coating.  Mr. [redacted] was the representative who took two samples of IG's with him when he paid an onsite visit to Mr. [redacted] house.  Because low-e coating gives the glass a certain slight tint, Mr. [redacted] had two samples - one clear with low-e and the other clear without low-e.  He used those two samples to compare to the replacement IG,  He verified that the replacement IG was clear tempered with the low-e coating.  He also explained to Mr. [redacted] that there are several brands of low-e coatings, each with different U-values which effect the performance of the low-e.  He also explained that it was impossible to determine the low-e coating that was inside his previous IG.  Per Mr. [redacted], Mr. [redacted] immediately was very short and rude to him.
Mr. [redacted] immediately called [redacted] complaining that Mr. [redacted] said and did nothing to fix his problem.  He then stated emphatically that he was going to have [redacted] come out to his house and have them to verify that we had not properly installed his replacement IG.  He further stated that he would also call [redacted] and have them come out to do the same.   He ended his call with the threat that he was going to sue us.
Mr. [redacted] then called Mr. [redacted], the president and owner of [redacted] Distributors, Inc., the manufacturer of the replacement IG.  Per Mr. [redacted], Mr. [redacted] became very mad that Mr. [redacted] could not do anything to solve his problem and began assaulting Mr. [redacted] integrity.  After several minutes of Mr. [redacted] tyrade, Mr. [redacted] had no choice but to hang up on Mr. [redacted].
In review:  Mr. [redacted] hired Davenport Glass to replace his broken insulating glass unit.  We  identified his existing IG as being clear tempered with low-e. We replaced his broken IG with a clear tempered with low-e IG.
Mr. [redacted] did not present any literature, bills of sale, or any other type of documentation that would show the brand of low-e coating used in his broken IG nor any U-values or performance factors that would make his previous insulating glass have a superior performance over the replacement IG.  In fact, on the website for [redacted], they do not even present U-values or performance factors.  They just say that their insulating glass units have low-e. Period.
Resolution:  I will not proceed with any action to "resolve" Mr. [redacted] complaint.  I will stand on the integrity of my company, my employee, and our IG supplier.  We have been in business for 38 years and have never had anyone threaten us with legal action.
I am prepared to legally pursue and protect the honor and integrity of my business, our employees, and my supplier.
