Coca-Cola defends their dishonest drivers (or another hit-and-run from Coca-Cola)
I like Coca-Cola products and always thought it is a reputable company. But one event has changed my opinion. One winter evening my wife was driving back home from work in her pretty blue Hyundai Elantra. She let Coca-Cola truck to drive from local business before her on the road. Truck stopped at the traffic light with my wife behind him keeping safe distance. Truck was quite far into the intersection and started pulling back. My wife honked without any result: truck kept moving back and hit my wife's car. Weirdly, he did it three times, despite my wife's desperate honking. Finally, driver got out of the truck, looked at the damage, said in broken English:" Nobody will believe you" and drove away. No exchange of information, calling police etc. Luckily, my wife had a chance to call me and I told her to take a picture. Yes, we do have the truck's license plate #. My wife was in a shock, but still was able to file a police report. Next day I called Coca-Cola and explained what happened. Company's clerk promised that I will get a call back ASAP. I did not. But the claim investigator was assigned. And then re-assigned. The investigation lasted few month to end with "not guilty plea". End of story. I called Coca cola twice again with no result. By the way, the damage was assessed by the car body shop as 2,500 dollars.

Given the extensive nature of its delivery services, Swire has enacted strict policies topromote the safe transportation of its products. All policies were fully complied with in this case.On January 11, 2018, Ms., complainant's wife, rear-ended a Swire truck. Swire'sdriver exited the road so that the drivers could exchange information, but Ms. fled thescene of the accident. Consistent with company policy, Swire's driver submitted an internalaccident report to the Swire Corporate Risk Department on January 12, 2018.On January 16, 2018, Swire received a complaint from the Coca-Cola consumer hotlinefiled by Mr.. Swire immediately reported the incident and consumer complaint to itsinsurance company, who assigned the claim to an insurance adjuster the next day. The insuranceadjuster denied Mr. claim on April17, 2018, basing his decision on the inability todetermine fault because of the conflicting evidence and the lack of any applicable police report.There is no reason this determination should be disturbed. Mr. was not a witnessto the accident. The contents of his complaint are second-hand and without corroboration. Further, despite hisclaims that he and his wife "filed a police report," the insurance adjuster noted that no such report was providedor could be determined as being filed. To date, Swire has not been contacted by any police department regardingthe accident. Put simply, this is an instance where a party was at fault for an accident, improperly fled the scene ofthe accident, and now seeks to be compensated for damages resulting from the accident that the party itselfcaused.
