Pacific Outback Steel Buildings, Inc Reviews (31)

Review: We paid in full for our building in October 2015. We received all except $5021.00 worth of product - rollup doors. We have had many conversations with [redacted] but have had no luck in getting the doors. We've been told many lies but the latest was that the money had been spent and they are having a cash flow problem.

This is a "theft" as far as we're concerned. We are not happy waiting until some other poor customer comes along and gives money towards a building. I can't believe this isn't against the law? Don't people go to jail for schemes like this?

Pacific Outback Steel is a distributor for Outback Steel with a office in Oregon and [redacted] is the owner.Desired Settlement: We want the doors or our money returned.

Business

Response:

We don't have a customer named [redacted]. We do, however, have one named [redacted] so I'm assuming they are related. We shipped the building and all materials in a timely fashion. All the steel, insulation, hardware and access doors. Yes, we have had some issues getting the rollup doors to Mr. [redacted]. No theft or scam involved. Just a temporary (we hope) bad cash flow causing the delay. Hope to have this solved quickly.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, but find that there is no resolution in their response. We paid for the roll up doors in October 2015 and have not received them. What should be considered a reasonable time to receive the merchandise?

I have nothing but praise for Pacific Steel Buildings. I singlehandedly erected my 30 x 30 ft building in 2008. I just needed a little help from my wife to place the 16ft roof sheets. The Outback system is brilliant. Every structural member is light enough to be manhandled - columns, roof beams, purlins, girts. No problem with the design. It passed the Placer County inspection department without a hitch. I was a picky customer, but the [redacted] family - [redacted] and her husband, son-in-law [redacted] all bent over backwards to accommodate me. They replaced a faulty Clopay roll up door and twisted girts all to my satisfaction. [redacted] sent me upgraded fasteners on his own initiative. Pacific Steel did a great take-off. The building was delivered on time from Metal Sales in Woodland and the sub-suppliers were all early. In summary, I highly recommend Outback Buildings and their distributor, Pacific Steel to anyone in this market.

Review: On February 12,2015 at the [redacted]. I signed a contract with Pacific Outback Steel Buildings for a 30x50 steel building. From the start there were issues with delivering blueprints, to now the building. The amount owed for the building was paid in Full December of 2015. At that time it was indicated to me I would have my building in 7-8 weeks. 18 months later I still have no building. I have heard every excuse possible and have lost all patience. Time is running out on the permits purchased through Fresno County. All permits are only go for one year. At this time I'm requesting that the Revdex.com fully investigate Pacific Outback Steel Building and the Ponzi scheme that the owner [redacted] is running. I would also like to request that one of 2 things happen in my situation. We enter into full arbitration seeking a return in all my money paid to Pacific Outback Steel Buildings or delivery of the paid in full steel building.Desired Settlement: At this time I'm requesting that the Revdex.com fully investigate Pacific Outback Steel Building and the Ponzi scheme that owner [redacted] is running. I would also like to request that one of 2 things happen in my situation. We enter into full arbitration seeking a return in all my money paid to Pacific Outback Steel Buildings or delivery of the paid in full steel building.

Review: I ordered a building in August,2012 and have not received the building, nor been advised of the delivery date as yet. I have contacted Pacific Steel Buildings by phone and e-mail many times for resolution, but have not been given a delivery date or order number. I don't know if the building has even been ordered.Desired Settlement: I would like a firm delivery date or a refund.

Business

Response:

Yes, Mr. [redacted] has made deposits for a building and has a contract which he has partially paid. No, he has not paid for the entire order.

Yes, we do owe him a schedule date for the steel at this point but nothing else as nothing else has been paid for such as the hardware for the building, insulation, doors, and windows.

Yes, it has been extremely strange here the last several months partially because I have been in the hospital and extremely ill. I was in intensive care for a couple weeks while they tried to determine why I was dying at that point. When they finally got me somewhat stable something triggered an ER dr. to check my husband out. They then admitted him to the hospital and scheduled him for a quadruple bypass.

I worked part time from home for quite some time and have returned full time just recently. My husband is not fully recovered yet and is on medication enough so that he cannot work full time.

During all of this all phone calls were being handled by someone else who could get messages to me. I could send emails but couldn’t really make many phone calls.

Mr. [redacted] does not appear to be very computer literate. He does have email but doesn’t seem to read it much. And then instead of replying to the email he would call and again I don’t have access to the phone so didn’t answer. Then he would send something to the website. I don’t have access to any email that goes through the website as it apparently has been invaded with multiple virus and Spam and the company who maintains the website has control of anything there. If it appears to be from a new customer inquiry they send me those emails and only those. One email from [redacted] came through like it was a new customer and that’s how I could answer that one. I told him at the time please use my actual email address or simply reply to the email I had sent him. This happens sometimes.

We are catching up but this is been an awful time.

Review: On November 2, 2015, [redacted] entered into an agreement with Pacific Outback Steel Buildings, Inc. for the purchase of a building kit. Mr. [redacted] wrote check [redacted], dated November 12, 2015 for $4541. The agreement is not signed by the buyer or the seller. On November 25, 2015, [redacted] unexpectedly passed away. The check was cashed on November 24, 2015. Ms. Marleen [redacted] attempted to contact the company by phone on November 25th to advise the company of his unexpected death and that Ms. [redacted] was not going to complete his project. She made numerous calls, none of which were ever returned. She would leave a message for [redacted] stating that she did not have email and wanted a return call. On approximately December 6, 2015, she received a printed email in an envelope dated December 3, 2015. According to the email, the money was for "engineering and Calcs". Mr. [redacted] was an engineer and had already designed the building he wanted. The document continued to state that she was going to mail the "engineering and Calcs" but certainly understand that you probably don't want them". There is no evidence that the company did in fact prepare any materials for the building.Desired Settlement: Refund of the deposit as "Outback" cashed the check on November 24, 2015, the day before Mr. [redacted] death and was immediately notified on November 25th.

Business

Response:

Yes, we responded with voice mails and emails to the email address we had. The wet stamped engineering blueprints & calcs were in fact created and we still have them. We would be happy to send them to Mrs. [redacted] if she wans them. One of her messages said she would not be proceeding any further with the building so we didn't sent them to her because we thought that was what she wanted.Yes, a deposit was paid for the payment of the wet stamped engineering and calcs specific to the [redacted]s address. I do understand Mr. [redacted] was an engineer but he was not the structural engineer that created the blueprints & calcs for this custom designed building. He advised by phone and email what he would like us to create but he had no engineering input on the project. I don't even know what kind of an engineer he was. but I don't think it was a structural engineer because if he was I'm sure he would have created his own building project and wouldn't have asked for our help. We worked with him over several years on this project. We understood perfectly what he wanted. I'm not sure Mrs. [redacted] is aware of all that had gone on as we had never spoken to her or met her. Only the message that he had died.Again, we would be happy to mail the engineering blueprints & calcs to her if that is what she wants.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I am sending additional documents to the email address given to me the last time you requested additional information.I find the response by Pacific Outback Steel Buildings, Inc. totally false and amazed that they responded so quickly to Revdex.com. First, they claim they responded with voicemails and emails. When I contacted them on November 25, 2015, the day that [redacted] died, I left a message advising the company of his death and that I did not wish to continue with the project. I also told the company that I could not get into [redacted]'s computer and did not have email service. I requested a return call via the phone. I left my home number. There were no messages. I also checked [redacted]'s business phone number; no messages. I continued to call and leave messages twice a day for a week. On approximately December 6, 2015, I called their business number. A woman answered but never identified herself. I asked if I could speak with [redacted]. I was told that she was not in. I told her I had left many messages for [redacted], and to date had not received a call back. The unidentified person said she would personally give her the message and would ask her to call me. I continued to call but never received a live person, only the answer machine. On December 6, 2015, I received the printed email in the US mail. The building that [redacted] was ordering is a standard building. It was 30 feet by 40 feet. There was nothing "unique" about it. I cannot believe that the engineering blueprints and calcs are "special". It is my belief that these blueprints are on hand and not made up "custom". Also, [redacted]'s check was dated 11-12-15. Assuming it was mailed the same day, the check was not cashed until 11-20-15 (the day before he died). Are they saying that the engineering blueprints and calcs were put together in five days? I would like proof that these documents were specifically made for the building [redacted] was planning on constructing and not something they pull from a file. The size of this building is a very popular size.[redacted] has made NO attempt to contact me by phone despite my numerous requests for her to call me. I believe that the company is taking advantage of [redacted]'s death by retaining his deposit. I am also requesting a copy of the contract signed by both [redacted] and Pacific Outback. I cannot find any document sign by any party.

Business

Response:

First of all I have never met this person and from her statements it is clear she has absolutely no idea what we do or how the buildings are configured, engineered or created. We do not now nor ever have had "standard sizes". They don't exist. We done things like buildings specific down to 1/2" because that is what was required for a specific purpose. We do not have whatever standard drawings she is talking about and I don't even know what they are. We have wet stamped blueprints & calcs that are specific to a building and a specific address as required by each county for that particular piece of property. [redacted] County does not accept just drawings that someone has that are done "in house." I do realize there are places that sell so called pre-fab buildings in [redacted] in particular; however, [redacted] county will not approve them. [redacted] first contacted us at least 3-4 years ago and changed sizes multiple times. And changed doors, windows, skylights and other additions through the years. He also had negotiated with a G.C. to erect the building. He finally decided on adding (2) 10x10 rollup doors and had 8 polycarbonate light sheets panels in the roof. In addition he placed (2) pa/access doors and 2 windows. Sorry these were all customer placed and involved structural calculations to determine how the shear strength of the wall sheets were affected in these areas as well as the cross bracing that is used for wind loading and zeismic. I have attached a copy of the signed contract that Mr. [redacted] agreed to and while we are sympathetic to his passing we had previously accepted his non-refundable deposit and paid the fees necessary to the structural engineer and to the owner of Outback Buildings of which we are a distributor where we pay all fees necessary for use of the software. The contract clearly states that a portion of the deposit can be refunded only if the county does not approve the engineering for this particular building. This did not occur and again, we are sympathetic to Mr. [redacted]s passing we were sorry he is unable to complete the project as we know he did want to there really is nothing we can do at this point except not enforce the continuation of the contract. We have stopped it at this point.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: Pacific Outback stated they had a contract witn both signatures; however, the document they provided has no signatures for the buyer and seller.

Review: I purchased a building from this company in 2014. I have yet to receive it. I have been given the run around, and received promises after promises, from [redacted], but I have yet to receive the product. I have asked for a refund and none was given. I just keep getting one excuse after another. I paid for everything but the additional "components " . I.e. Doors insulation etc. I have contacted the owner of the franchise [redacted], he said he would help, but I have never heard from him again. [redacted] has not responded to me since August of 2015 at which time she told me I was at the top of the list. At this point I feel this will become a criminal investigation, as they have stolen this money from me.Desired Settlement: I would at this point just like the money I have given her to be refunded, but at the very least would like what I have paid for and no more. I also believe they should be held accountable for stealing this

Money , and having no intention of providing the product.

Business

Response:

We are late on the date of some of the materials; however, they have not all been paid for. We fully intend to supply the date and expect to complete the contract upon payment from the customer of his final payment. If you can forward this on I would appreciate it. Thank you, [redacted]

Review: I signed a contract to purchase a steel building kit from Pacific Outback Steel Buildings / [redacted] on March 21, 2015. Payment was to be made in three installments: 1st(25%)for Engineered Drawings, 2nd(50%)was for steel materials, 3rd(25%)as final payment prior to shipment. Payments were all made upon request and all material was delivered with the exception of two roll up shop doors (contract value:$2,400)and two access doors (contract value:$1,170)for an outstanding balance of $3,570. Final payment was received by [redacted] on September 18th, 2015. Phone calls have not been returned. Countless emails have passed between us with various reasons for the delay and promises of delivery "soon", but never specific. I have most recently asked for delivery or refund, to be negotiable, however, email replies have ceased.Desired Settlement: I would expect a refund of $3,570. Payment schedule is negotiable. Promises of delivery are not credible at this point and my project needs to be completed so that the shop can be secured.

Business

Response:

Doors will be shipped and delivered. the refund he is asking for is a lot more than the cost of the doors. We will either ship the doors or the actual costs of the doors not his stated amount.

Business

Response:

Agreement wasn't mailed until the doors were in transit. He should have it by tomorrow or the latest the next day.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I have received the previously referenced Promissory Note, signed and notarized. Terms set fourth therein are satisfactory. Only time will tell if the terms are faithfully executed.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They run there company like a Ponzi scheme. They will take your money to pay off someone else's building and expect you to wait years to get your product. They will give you a very low quote to start but after they get their first deposit they will try to in crease the price over and over. If you do not let them they will simply take your money and stop returning your calls. If you do happen to get a hold of them be ready to get a earful of lies because this entire family is unable to utter a single truthful word!

Review: Run away or loose your money, we ordered a storage building 40'x70' in 2013 and paid for it already with a line of credit cost us well overy $40k not to mention they really did the blue prints and made us pay for it even thought it was their mistake. We invested another $30k in slab and $3k in permits and now after over two years have passed still no building no steel dilevred to us. They are never at the office and never answer phone call, no updates no phone calls no responsibilities. We have been paying interst on our line of credit for two years now, we can't live at the house due to no garage and on top of everything else our permit expired. So now the family decided to file a law suet against this company and its owners and bussines bonds they operate with. Our advise is stay away from this company and [redacted] one of the owners who's claiming they got no office in Stockton when I already signed my contract with her over there.Desired Settlement: At this point they did not fulfill the order nor they paid us back even if they do so it will be too late since the permit is expired, a law suet is more likely to take place at the court of law represented by our family attorney with all do umantations and avedances of funds and contact presented. This company will be shut down soon so no further people loose their hard working investments.

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] did enter into a contract in 2013. He did receive the wet stamped blueprints & Calcs for his building. He informed us that he was not ready for the building and would tell us when he was. That wasn't until a few months ago in 2015 so there were no delays caused by us up until then. When he decided that now he wanted his building he was asked if he had worked out his access issues which were a concern. The company delivering the steel has to have a driveway access for a 70ft. semi truck to park and the customer needs to have a forklift to unload the steel. Mr. [redacted] replied he hadn't worked out the access yet is was just all bumpy dirt and no road but the semi could park on the main highway Coffee Road. Coffee road is heavily traveled and cannot be obstructed by a semi at all for a long period of time. The company that would be delivering the steel has been very clear that until clear access to the property is provided by Mr. [redacted] they cannot deliver the steel. As of today we have heard nothing from him. There are display buildings located in Stockton. There is no office nor has there ever been an office. Mr. [redacted] did meet at the display site at one point but only because he had an appointment at the buildings. The only office at that location belongs to a trucking company. There is no one else there so, of course no one would be just standing around in a parking lot. There is a toll free phone # and a local number that are always monitored. If someone is unable to answer the phone because they are perhaps on another call voice mail is always available. In addition Mr. [redacted] has email and every email has been answered. We have yes had issues surviving the recession and thankfully we all seem to be coming out of it. So we are a lot closer to being able to take care of our end of this. However, even if we could have his steel delivered tomorrow there still is no where to deliver it.

Consumer

Response:

We are not accepting any more bogus excuses at this point $41,130 and two years of wasting our time and money is on the online, Coffee Rd has plenty of room on the side of the street for a semi truck to park right by the gate to unload materials without blocking any traffic what so ever, we have [redacted] and other commercial trucks do the same and we unload construction materials all the time. There are two fork lifts on site already purchased for this project alone. At this point the file has been transferred to the Law offices of [redacted] located at [redacted] office [redacted] the owners of Pacific Steel Buildings will need to contact and forward all requested information to the law office, we are looking forward to take the case to court soon as it is clearly a breach of contract and all involved parties will be held responsible for their actions.

Business

Response:

At this point there is a valid contract in place that we have not broken. We cannot offer a refund when there isn't a need from our side of the contract. Mr. [redacted] has stated that he wishes to do something other than follow the terms and conditions of the contract. Does he wish to cancel the contract? If so, he must do so in writing. then he would be charged for all goods and services that have already been paid for on his behalf. The balance would be owed to him. There are several sub-contractors who have contributed services and been paid for on this contract. So at this point we have nothing we can or should be doing. Mr. [redacted] certainly can do whatever he wishes as we aren't controlling his behavior; however, he cannot dictate to us what we can do either,

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:Contact the attorneys office you cant reach us here any more.

Review: We, like many others who have had difficulty with [redacted] at Pacific Steel Buildings, too have had lack of communication or delivery dates for our building. We ordered with 25% down at the time of order on January 31, 2014 ($5,729.24). Ourengineered drawings were submitted to the San Joaquin County & approved by March 24, 2014 and we poured our cement slab in anticipation of delivery. We were told to pay the next amount ($11,458) in order to start the production of our building in the Woodland plant. The remainder was due upon delivery in the weeks ($5,729 + $150 for offload). Since she was sure the building would be delivered in three weeks I went ahead & paid in full the amount of $17,337.72 on May 7, 2014. Four weeks passed with no update. I stopped by two or three times before I reached her to inquire about my delivery. She told me there was a delay due to the busy period. The next call I made, [redacted] stated the manufacturer had equipment failure and there is a big delay in metal building production . She also told me that if I wanted "different parts" that I would have to re engineer my drawings and resubmit to the county. Weeks have passed with no communication. On August 4, 2014 we were traveling through Woodland & made contact [redacted] to find d out what was the delay. We spoke with the sales rep [redacted] who stated our order has never been "released" by [redacted]. There was no delay or backlog at their plant. The sheet metal folder for one part had gone down for a couple of weeks but was now up and running. At no time did they delay productions as there are substitutions that work just as well. I asked to speak to his manager who was not available however he would have her return our call which she did. My wife called Pacific Steel Buildings to speak to [redacted] & left a message. In return [redacted] left an extremely rude voice message & emails. We then spoke with [redacted] and [redacted] from [redacted]k in Australia who has had complaints in the past but couldn't offer any solution.Desired Settlement: We have lost our summer help along with heavy equipment that had been loaned to us for the summer to erect this building. Our cement pad is completed with electricity which has been passed by inspection. All we want is our building g and now we want it at cost, not retail. The cost of storage, now the added cost of equipment rental and paid help as I am near my 70th birthday and cannot easily erect this on my own now due to the delay.

Business

Response:

There are several things

that are mis-represented here. They have

been communicated to the [redacted]’s but it doesn’t appear either that they don’t

understand what was said or choose not to believe it.

First of all a major delay

of several weeks did occur because the manufacturer of the steel had an

equipment failure with the machine that folds the steel. The issue being that the purlins that were

structurally engineered for their building and the formed base could not be

produced.

Ms. [redacted] contacted the manufacturer

and talked to a clerk who said they could ship other parts that would

work. So their assumption was we were

holding the order up when “other” parts would work. Here are the issues. The roof is extremely difficult to assemble

with the substituted parts especially when Mr. [redacted] is erecting the building

himself and really doesn’t fit together as well. The design is not good and

exactly why it isn’t used. And the

formed base that seals off the building preventing rodents, dirt and moisture

from entering the building also couldn’t be produced. In addition as the wet stamped blueprints

list different materials as another customer found out this would require that

the engineering be re-done by the structural engineer and then re-submitted to

the County to revise the permit. It

didn’t seem like this solution would save any less time than waiting for the

necessary repairs.

Also, another customer who

wanted their building shipped on the regular date and was not permitting their

building said they wanted the substitute parts.

We advised them not to but ultimately it was their decision. So they agreed to let the manufacturer send

the substitute parts. A month later they

are still screaming that they want the parts they originally ordered and paid

for but this is now between the customer and the manufacturer as it was taken

out of our hands. And everything we

advised has come true. They are not at

all happy with the substitution. So we

decided not to allow that to happen again as it created more problems than it

temporarily solved.

The equipment has now been

repaired and we are catching up on all the back orders. This particular one should be delivered

within a few weeks before the end of September.

Consumer

Response:

We respectfully reject the response from Pacific

Steel Buildings (PSB). Their response stating that they have communicated with

us [redacted]ds one to believe that they have done so freely. The communications have

been at our request or rather persistence. The responses we have received have been filled with

comments such as “since you’ve complained” or have been accusatory and

unprofessional to say the [redacted]st. She goes as far to lay blame on others and

makes poor excuses.

The facts of the matter are this:

The only miscommunications that have occurred

are from Pacific Steel Buildings President. She has purposely mislead us in

regards to our order to make a sale of the steel building that we purchased on

January 31, 2014. Ms. [redacted] was already aware of her "backlog" in January 2014 since PSB had

a backlog of sales without delivery of materials, collecting funds entrusted to

her by a number of consumers. There are seven other complaints filed on the Revdex.com

website for the exact reasons that we have filed: delayed or no delivery going

as far back as 2011.

PSB’s

statement that first of all, the delay was a result of the manufacturer’s

equipment failure is untrue. It is unfortunate that the folder at [redacted]

broke down on June 3rd or 4th, 2014 per our conversation with [redacted], Customer Service Manager at [redacted]). We spoke with both the customer service representative for PSB’s region

and the manager at [redacted] and the President of [redacted]. It was

confirmed that although they were unable to repair it until August 11, 2014, there

is no backlog that resulted from this equipment failure at the manufacturer.

PSB

has consistently brought up the argument about engineered drawings and the need

to file for a change on our building permit if we settle on a substitute part

during [redacted]’s equipment failure of the folding machine. This is simply, an excuse for the delay to fall

under the contract dated January 31, 2014, Job Number 40160226 states in Terms

and Conditions of Sale; paragraph 7) Contingencies:

“Seller

shall not be liable for loss, damage or delay in manufacturer shipment or

delivery of goods, or for its inability to perform any or all of its

obligations hereunder due to any cause beyond the Seller’s control, including

but not limited to acts of God, any acts of omissions of Purchaser acts of

civil monetary authorities, fire, floods, windstorms, earthquake, strikes,

lockouts, or other labor disturbances, civil commotion, war delays in

transportation, late delivery by Seller’s suppliers or manufacturers. If any such cause results in a delay in

performance, the date of delivery and such extension shall be Purchaser’s

exclusive remedy.”

Our

order was placed and paid in full by us on Wednesday May 7, 2014. The

advertising made by the parent company [redacted] is

"building delivery two to three weeks" from payment and order. This

would make our delivery date set at approximately Friday May 28, 2014 this

would allow a 48 hour period for our check to clear. PSB did not fulfill our

order when we placed full faith and trust in them. PSB’s consistent argument

that it is [redacted] fault and speaking poorly of their personnel is a

blatant disregard for their working relationship with [redacted].

The need for a change in the plans or materials would not

have been an issue had PSB placed our order upon payment. So PSB’s assumption

that we believed she was “holding the order up when “other” parts would

work” and then elaborated on issues that might or might not occur with

replacement parts is a moot point. Simply stated: had she placed our order upon

payment our building materials would have been completed and delivered prior to

the breakdown of the equipment at [redacted].

We have involved the President of [redacted]

and he has inquired on our behalf only to be told by PSB “The equipment has now

been repaired and we are catching up on all the back orders. This

particular one should be delivered within a few weeks before the end of September.”

Again, had the order been paid and released at the very latest on August 11,

2014 we would have had our building materials delivered by September 1, 2014

(three weeks). It is now a few weeks from the end of September 2014.

The definition of fraud and embezzlement is clearly outlined

in California Penal Code: 503-515 Embezzlement and fraudulent.

“503. Embezzlement is the fraudulent appropriation of

property by a person to whom it has been entrusted.” We expect delivery within the week of

September 15, 2014 or we will have no other recourse than to pursue criminal

action through the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.

Business

Response:

This is nothing more than malicious slander by someone who is the wife of a customer who apparently wasn't included in the original purchase or discussion.

My husband and I are repeat customers of Pacific Steel Buildings and recommend them to our friends and family. From the time we contacted them for a bid they were always friendly and helpful. Keeping us posted on what to expect, design assistance, and status on product delivery. We purchased a 4000SF metal building which my husband erected himself. Drew and Lauren were always available to assist with our questions along the way. They even cam out to check on our progress. Our building is quality made and we get many compliments.
